Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.

Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely.

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means.

It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("T") - we speak from experience.

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Grab a cushion, a spot on the floor, or an armchair in the corner and make yourselves comfy.

Wow, I had just seen the pictures on signs. I didn’t what was in it.

It sounds ick. Too much going on at once.

T is on a trip with family this weekend and away for business next week. This is the first week since we started working together that I haven’t called or emailed (I can actually do self care with son gone). But now T has me crying even though he isn’t here. The last email I sent I started to admit that I am attached and afraid of leaving him (whenever that may be, we are nowhere close). I said I was trying to keep in mind that he said he wouldn’t hurt or reject me and that Fr and I do OK even though neither one of us are at the same church any more. Well, T and H have a shared interest that has a lot of events/gatherings around here. T said he might come to the one next door to where I worked. I asked him to let me know because I would like to see him (seeing as it is public) he was surprised I was really interested but he is OK with it. Then later T said by the way, if you go often look for ****** he is there a lot and I think you would like him. So, I can be a little daft. Not only is T OK with this overlap between our personal and professional lives but he is kinda inviting me into the community... so there would be a natural way to see him a few times a year even after we terminated.

I have never had any of their frapp-things. Trying to get a plain ice tea from them can be an ordeal.
I tasted one of their chai tea lattes that my person ordered once after chemo and could not abide how sweet it was. I gave her a pass on mockery because the chemo messed with her mouth so much that anything she could tolerate was great with me. It was a bit of a surprise though because she was even more of a stickler for not wanting things too sweet before all the drugs messed with her.
I have started carrying a heating element and my own aeropress or french press mug when I travel.

T today was rough. She had texted that she cared about me. It sent me into a tailspin. Care is a dangerous word to me and I never need to hear it I told her that. She responded that she does care about me. I explained that "doubling down" on her text wasnt helpful and all the reasons I find it scary. She started saying something that sound like she was going to repeat it

Well I covered my ears. Not grown up and told her I literally wasnt going to listen to it. She took that pretty seriously and said she would leave it at she cares about her job. So I wouldnt feel so threatened.

I want to nap but staring at 8 hrs of work.

I think attachment in therapy is sorta like what nanny Mcphee tells the children. "“When you need me, but do not want me then I must stay. But when you want me but no longer need me, I have to go”. When you get to the ending phase you're not the same person you were when you started. You'll be ready when you're ready.

I don't see the problem with seeing T at events, especially if you live in a small area. It's just something that is.

I just got this vision of SD going around the country erasing exclamation points. Like how people take pictures and post them of what was it random capitalized L's? I loved that.

I'm going to see my therapist in an hour or so. So much has happened this week; I don't know what he's going to be like--scolding or sympathetic or somewhere in between.

I agree with the nanny McPhee thing. I think it’s really nice of him to let me know that it won’t be a “never see you again” situation though. It also tells me that, unlike all my other T’s, he is taking my attachment stuff seriously. I am still in touch with most of my kindergarten class (early 1980’s), I am still in contact with several teachers/staff from my high school (1992-1996) and from college (1996-2000). I also have vivid memories of a lot of people from my childhood that I would love to run into but have lost touch with. T is actually 30 or so minutes from me in a different town and county but the group of people with this shared interest all seem to know eachother. H hasn’t done it in several years so he doesn’t know anyone any more.

I also have a friend who said the goal of parenting is to raise your child into an adult you’d like to hang out with. I kinda see some of this with T too... that if I was still clingy, needy, and wounded I wouldn’t be fun to run into... but if he does his job right and helps me be healthy/whole then it might be nice to run into each other now and then. It would be pretty normal at one of these events to chat for a few minutes, catch up on basics and get a hug.

Either way it got T brownie points with H because it is a kind of expensive hobby. I already told H we could do it but now H knows I have ulterior motives and will actually pressure him to follow through and get into it again.

H and I are having a date night at one of the events tonight but I know T is at a different one out of state this weekend.

I just received a used watch band from amazon that came in a giant box that could have held 2 shoeboxes. All that was in it was a single flat watch band and a lot of plastic bubble wrap. The watch band could have been shipped in a small flat envelope.
