Feeling raw today for some reason. Like everything is rubbing me raw. What is this like oversensitivity? I don't know. I don't like it.

Yesterday was the co-owner of the company I work for birthday. She works in the NY office. I work in the CA office. I sent her flowers and a balloon. I was worried that she might be like, what did you do that for? Because I do tend to over-do sometimes when it is for someone I like or admire or whatever. But she took it well. She said that they surprised everyone in the office because they didn't know it was her birthday. I was like, uh oh, I divulged a well kept secret did I? But she didn't seem to mind and she really liked the flowers. She said she loved them anyway. I guess she could have been lying but I don't think so. I hope they looked like the picture because so often you order flowers and then it looks nothing like the picture on the website. So frustrating. First world problems I know....

I am in Scotland and living with tight restrictions, but short of lockdown. Each of the UK devolved nations (Scotland, Wales, Ireland) have different measures in place. England is going into lockdown.

This is me today too. I’ve been very irritable and touchy. Hopefully you’re able to calm down soon.

I think it's okay to be a human being sitting in a room with another human being offering kindness...even if they happen to be a therapist.

(And if you don't feel like saying something, you're not an asshole either.)

L said if I were to go get a Covid test, that I might be able to see her in person on Friday. I told her I felt like she's dangling a piece of meat im front of a starving lion. We'll see how that goes over.

Btw: my fever is already gone.

Are they easy to get where you live, like can you get one without symptoms or doctor's referral? And get quick results? If so, may as well get one. Glad your fever is gone.

I worked on a poem for a little while, and now I am trying to start on my journal review that's due Sunday. Well, I have the reference in APA format done. It's a start. Heh. I think I'll call it a night and go take a hot bath, then get up early and knock this thing out. Tomorrow at some point I plan to head out into the desert to recharge a bit and take some pics. I have the next 4 days off work. Yay! Also therapy tomorrow at 3.

I'm so burnt out on school right now. I don't even want to bother with this assignment. Maybe I'll feel more energetic about it in the morning, it's been a long couple of work days since I had to take calls all dang day on Monday. I told L recently that I've really begun re-thinking this whole school thing on the whole - I don't think I really want to do this anymore, but that I will finish this semester. She said why finish it if you're not going to continue? I didn't have a good answer but have since realized it's because this is my ONE opportunity to take this class, that I need for the degree (it's normally only offered during the day in person when I can't take it because of work). Only because of the pandemic and the college being closed to in-person is it being offered virtually at night this semester. So if I quit part way through, and then after I take a semester off decide to continue, I'll have blown the chance to finish this class! So i feel like I really should finish it. But dang, I'm burnt out on studying... I wish we had the points breakdown for the whole semester so I'd know how many more points I need to get a C. But the breakdown she had initially posted was completely wrong and based on something else completely so she pulled it down, and hasn't put up a new one. I need to ask about it. I don't know. Maybe 58 is just too old for going to school while working full time...

I suggest that students focus on the material and not the grade.

I would finish the class if it is hard to take normally. I would not worry about the grade. Done is done, it doesn’t have to be perfect or even good. It is OK to sometimes be just okay at something.

I used “rhoticity,” my word from Monday, to answer a student question in Greek yesterday.

Is rhoticity also the culprit when detectives on true crime shows say "cowoborate" instead of "corroborate"?
