My maternal grandfather used to joke that we kids were smarter than he was because he couldn't spell my father's (admittedly difficult) last name until he was 55 and we could all do it by age 5.

Here's my real actually existing word of the day, learned (!) in the swamps of Twitter this morning:
sedevacantism.

Still feeling rubbed raw this morning. Still feeling like my insides are outside. Not sure what is making me feel this way. If it is just the weekend coming off of me. (Always tense being around my brother in law and it feels like it takes time to shed that tenseness.) Or if it is just not having engaged in a negative addictive behaviour in a while and its getting to me like my coping skills aren't enough or if it is excessive worry. I don't know. But when I don't know what is causing it, I don't know how to address it.

Yes; the machines have sensors, either a beep or a reading that tells you psi. Some gas stations the pumps are free, some they take quarters.

Get an air gauge (not expensive at any auto parts store, target, walmart etc), check your front door for the tire pressure, check the pressure first then add air if you need it. Some gas stations have air pumps with built in gauges to tell you the pressure.

Some tire places will fill for free too. I know here, Discount Tire does it for free.

Inside the driver's side door frame is a sticker that should tell you what the recommended psi is for your car. It's usually in the neighborhood of 32psi-ish.

In addition to what ATAT says, you can also buy a tire gauge to throw in your glove compartment so you don't have to rely on the gas station having a working gauge. The optimal pressure levels for your particular car can be found on the frame of your car inside the driver's side door area.

Most tire places will check your tire pressure and fill them as a courtesy by the way. My husband does that because he is handicapped and doing it himself isn't really feasible.

Thanks. I am going to finish, for just that reason. It's been a really long road and I'm not quite at the end of it yet as far as letting go of the I admit it compulsive need to try to be perfect (while at the same time knowing perfection is impossible). I think I'll practice a little today by writing the essay that's due Sunday and submitting it without a bunch of rewrites. It's a 20 point essay for heaven's sake. I could completely skip at least one of them for sure and still pass the class. Probably more.

Wow, that feels freeing to say out loud.

I like sites like the Awk(word) wiki for step-by-step instructions on stuff I haven't done before.

Also it's funny: "Park your car. Now open the driver's side door. Exit your car. Enter the restaurant. Join the ordering line to the left."

Went for a run to the library and checked out the new Allie Brosh book (which I put on hold as soon as it came out). Walking back in the sunlight. Trying to enjoy these things instead of freaking out.
