My cat Esther had a vet appointment today to check on her blood glucose. The vet wants her to go to the animal hospital and have an IV because her blood glucose is too high. (She's probably stressed at being at the vet but she also snacks which makes it hard to control her blood sugar. I tried to get my parents to not give her snacks but it is hard for them when she is crying because she is hungry.) So now my Dad is taking her to an animal hospital a couple of towns over because we don't have one. He called and let them know what was going on and they said she could come in. This is going to be really expensive, I can feel it, and plus I thought she was getting better so this is killing me. Plus I'm at work. Plus I'm suicidal today, before I even knew about Esther.

Esther's frutosamine test last week showed she was a little outside of the fair range on her glucose so I don't understand what is going on with her.

The animal hospital might not be as expensive as you're fearing. We took our cat to the emergency vet once (probably very similar kind of place that does overnight stays and rehab and specialist services), and it was about the same cost as similar services at our regular vet. I hope she's okay and things are looking better soon.

Thank you EM. My Dad will help me out with the cost (likely he will pay upfront and then I'll pay him back in installments) so even if it is expensive, my Dad makes it affordable for me. It's just been one thing after the other with her this year. Back to back to back infections, and her diabetes, and going to the vets all the time. I love my kitty and I hope she isn't suffering but I also am glad we are going to be seeing a different doctor who might have a different opinion on her treatment.

Thanks, my Dad called and the vet is going to keep her overnight. We have to bring them some insulin though because they don't have any (????) so I am going to go with my Dad back to the facility. I'm kind of sad that she has to stay overnight because I am going to miss her but if it is best for her health then that is what we have to do. Hopefully they will let me see her when we go back to take the insulin to them.

Okay, phew, the patient presentation went well. Everyone was super engaged and we had a good discussion about what makes a relationship or an appointment therapeutic. I love this fellowship

But the real question is, have you spent more or less time in therapy than that?
I think I have spent slightly less time than that with Liz specifically (~350 sessions, I am guessing) but I have spent more time in therapy overall if we're looking across my entire life.

I think we’re too confused.

I’m reading The Handmaid’s Tale sequel. It’s good. She’s also fixed some of the plot holes from the original.

Cat news...
Old man cat is still doing better. He has adjusted to wearing his coat and looks pretty dapper running around in it. And he's gained weight.

Little no-foot kitten chirps when she wants me to pet her and has turned into a roly-poly thing. Her sister has a gorgeous plume of a tail and likes to chase squirrels.

And I am changing the kittens' names to In and Out. They are constantly getting separated, scratching at the door, then swapping spots once the door is opened. GAH.

Oh lovely. I was humming one of the boys' choir songs, and couldn't remember the lyrics so I Googled. It's a Victor Hugo quote put to music: "Be like the bird who, pausing in her flight awhile on boughs too slight, feels them give way beneath her, and yet sings, knowing she hath wings." Gorgeous.

Hey,

You're still welcome without a T here. A few other poster's aren't in therapy.
