I don't know what I was thinking, if anything. It was primal terror. But I'm reminded of something that happened later on in kindergarten a few years later when I was 6 or 7. My teacher got a group of us together and led us into another building. She didn't tell us what was going on. I became convinced that she was taking us somewhere where we would be touched inappropriately. I started bawling my eyes out because I didn't want that to happen. Everyone was really confused. For some reason, I felt I could not say why I was so upset - it was a secret. Turns out, we were just going to meet our "big buddies" (older students we were paired off with).

I wonder what you guys were thinking about being left at school? I remember walking home from kindergarten by myself.

Eta - wow, i still dont know anybody who has it. Maybe they dont announce it on facebook, idk.

some i heard about on facebook, some over the phone, some in email.... just depends on the person i guess how they tell people...

When I was in kindergarten, my mother dropped me off and picked me up every day. One day she wasn't going to be able to pick me up so she arranged with a family friend, who I knew, to pick me up. I was informed about this change so it wasn't a surprise. Except when it came time, I wasn't having it. I was not going to go with this person. I hid somewhere in the school and they had to look for me. I hope I didn't hurt that lady's feelings.

My separation anxiety came in middle school, when my anxiety disorder really set in. I recall one time my mom dropping me off, and I was kind of clinging to the car as she slowly drove away... Meanwhile, in preschool (or maybe kindergarten?) I came home and announced to my mom that I wish my teacher was my mother. She was apparently very hurt by that and still brings it up. I was like 5!

ETA: Though I suppose I was like 39 when I wished ex-MC had been my father, so...

I've had several students who have lost family members to COVID. My daughter-in-law had COVID (29) and is still struggling to get full respiratory function back six months later. Two of my current students were out on quarantine because they tested positive. One of our retired teachers' husband is currently in the ICU with a combination of COVID, flu, and pneumonia. I think he's on a respirator right now.

The advantage of having a twin brother: there was always someone else at school with me.

I am still feeling odd and discomfited and wishing I were the person I was a few years ago.

I suppose I could talk to Info about it but that would require seeing Info. She is the therapy version of those cricket cheese chips from Eat Bugs—I look at the bag whenever I want to eat, and hunger instantly vanishes.

I only know 1 person personally who has had Covid. They are in NC. I am in CA. Southern CA. I should know a ton of people personally who have had Covid but I do not. I've had three friends die during Covid but none had Covid. Just their own health issues caught up to them. One had ALS. The other two had heart conditions and liver/kidney problems.

But if you saw Info, we could get an Info attire report!

Hope you feel not odd and not discomfited soon!

Reminds me of when my sister was born. I was three. Although I was told the night before that the mother would not be there in the morning, I threw an enormous tantrum when I awoke to find my lovely grandmother there instead. I even vaguely remember thinking to myself that it didn't make sense that I was crying. I think maybe it was just shock, even though I had been warned. I stopped and we went and got flowers then to the hospital. I was hoping my sister would cry because I thought that's what she was supposed to do as a baby, but she disappointed me. I ate the mother's food off her hospital tray that she had wanted to eat and she has never forgotten that.

I never went to day care. And I have scant memories of kindergarten. I know I rode a bus to school at a church a few miles away, because our local grade school didn't yet have a kindergarten. I don't remember the bus at all. My only memory from kindergarten, is that one day I went up to the teacher's desk to ask her a question and she said 'wait here a minute' then left the classroom, and the other kids were all laughing at me standing there like a doofus because I was too scared to go sit down again. My mom loves telling the story of how when our class made butter I ate a ton of it because I loved it so much (and I've hated butter ever since as a result). Oh and there's a christmas ornament - that I hated - where we glued a picture of our face on a clothespin with angel wings behind it and a halo. I HATED that picture. One christmas like 15 years ago my brother found a copy of that picture and made replica ornaments for everyone in the family. Ugh! haha

I remember in either kindergarten or first grade falling off the monkey bars and putting a tooth through my lip and in a separate instance, slipping on some ice and imbedding a piece of gravel in my knee. Still have both the scars.

I ate too many m&m's with peanuts gained 5 lbs now my fat jeans are tight. I'll never fit into my skinny jeans. I'm in an eating disorders program and well i have a lot of work to do.

I hate snow. I hate winter. I want out of this awful state.

I was deeply unhappy at kindergarten/elementary school (my catholic elementary school was not a violence free zone and although I avoided most of it - I could not save the others and I was petrified of what they might do to my sibling when he got old enough. Luckily for him, we moved and he did not go to that school). But I never bothered telling parents - that would have been pointless at best and possibly a very stupid thing to tell them that would have left me in more peril at worst.

(I'll be fine, she'll be fine, but it still doesn't feel very good in the moment, especially when I already had a headache before the screaming started.)

Tons of room. Tons of blankets. Fire is going, and my youngest spawn, who perfected his car seat arch-and-scream back in the day, is making chocolate chip cookies and there are plenty.

Oh yeah, i got an imbedded gravel in my knee too! That thing was purple forever. I was obsessed with my leg being imperfect because of it.

Not stopdog.

I will have a cookie (provided you haven’t poisoned it with gluten), but piling in front of a fire is not my thing. You can have new cat and lone dog in my place, though. I refuse to raise the heat and they claim to be cold.
