They are painting the basement floors, an annual event, which means no laundry or taking out garbage for a couple of days. So to celebrate, i just binge-watched Season 3 of Professor T. it was GREAT!

Morning couchies! I woke up about 20 minutes ago with a big smile and feeling happy - fresh from the following dream: I'm with a small group of people being held captive in this screened-in porch kind of thing. Our captor leaves and as he walks away he says to us "You better not try to escape!!" After he has gone, I'm walking around the room and I notice a door in the back that I hadn't seen before, so I try the handle. It turns and the door opens, so I walk out, shouting in my head "I'm free!"

Had a very decent night at work last night -- good residents, good nurses, not too many new patients, nobody trying especially hard to die. Now I get to sleep for the next ten hours

I put hoods up because I am always cold. Lots of my casual clothes as well as house clothes have hoods, even bath robes. I am wearing this lounge wear thingy right now and it has a hood and I have it up. Ha

Got my schedule for January... 6a-5p Saturday through Thursday. I told my sup that Friday needs to be my day off, so I'm glad she was able to accommodate!

More depressed than usual today. Yesterday's session was intense, where we discussed at length the shame my mother's xmas present brought up for me, so maybe there's a bit of therapy hangover going on. I wish we were meeting today.

My work let one of my coworkers go today. He was one of my friends and ally's. I'm heart broken. I knew about it since yesterday since I had to prepare his final paychecks but today is awful. I told him how sorry I was (luckily I wasn't the one who had to let him go because I don't think I could have). He did his self evaluation for the company and asked me to forward it to the owners, so I did. I was like, maybe outgoing feedback is still good feedback? I felt bad because it was a variety of factors that led to him being let go. He is a good employee and a wealth of knowledge. The economy just sucks for one and he was sort of sidelined by the GM. He could easily get a job with our competitor but I worry about his age even though age discrimination isn't supposed to happen. He is too young to collect social security but he's old enough (59, 60) that it might be a black mark against him. Who wants to put two years of training into someone for them to leave in 5 years? I just feel horrible.

Its a police procedural where their consultant is a professor in criminal psychology who is a bit strange himself - germ-phobic, altho now that seems normal! A beautiful score, and it takes place in Belgium, and the language is so interesting - you hear German, French, and English. And they act out T's hallucinations, which are often hilarious. It IS a murder mystery, but i didnt find gratuitous violence, but there is blood sadness suspense etc.

I take it. It has really helped me when I am very depressed. I have to take it at night though, because it makes me sleepy.

First day of work in 11 days, counting weekends and holidays. Only 144 emails resulting in a one inch stack of work on my desk. Did my Monday reports and took a late lunch to take the kid to work (!!!) and had network issues all afternoon. Overall not a bad day.

I think I forgot to tell you all that my oldest finally got a job. She's been applying since April. This is not in her chosen field but at the grocery store just down the street. Anything is better than nothing. She's going to start her next semester of college soon, so good that the schedule is flexible enough for her to do both. Fingers crossed for her.

Have a good night couch!

I always hated the stacks waiting for me after a vacation. That is good news for your daughter.

It actually made me really anxious, though maybe "agitated" is the more proper term for how it made me feel. I couldn't tolerate it (but I'm sensitive to lots of meds).

I take Abilify at night to avoid all the side effects: drowsy and dizzy. I used to take Latuda. That stuff was horrible for me. I couldn't stay awake for more than 2 hours. Abilify has been a life-saver for me. Reduces my thoughts greatly. I used to suffer from thoughts daily, hourly. They plagued me. Now, I don't have any thoughts unless I'm triggered.

We got a letter from the HOA the other day warning us to take care of mistletoe in our trees. I'm thinking, mistletoe?! Before we got the letter, I'd only ever heard of that as in "kissing under the mistletoe". A decoration. But nooooo... it's a parasite in trees!! There are huge like balls of it way up in the top of the trees in our front yard. We don't look way up there so we had never even seen it, let alone know what it was. H climbed up on the roof today with a long tree saw thingie and cut off a few branches that had it on them, ones he could reach anyway. When he got done I used the loppers and cut the branches into smaller pieces so I could stuff the whole mess down into our garbage can. I filled it up completely. And there's still a bunch of it that he can't reach so we're going to have to hire a tree company to come out and get rid of the rest of it. Oh well, at least you can tell that we started working on it, so the HOA won't keep getting on our case. There's a ton of 'tree debris' in our yard again now, so they'll get on our case about that if we don't clean that up too. I think we're going to need to have a landscape company or something come out and remove all the gravel and tree debris down to just the plain dirt, and then put new gravel in. I wonder how much all of this is going to cost.
