What about making a upcoming movie or book list?

Doing your own family cinema night at home on fridays etc?

Signing up to a subscription by post thing? We have a chocolate and cheese ones but I've also seen one for make up, arts and crafts or order brownies or cake.

Don't know how strict restrictions are in your area, but what about visiting different parks?

I haven't been to a coffee shop since July and last ate out in august.

Ive been noshing on these Oloves, they come in different flavors like lemon and rosemary, or garlic and oregano. I thought, hmm, i bet these would make a great puttanesca. They are kind of expensive, but they are portion controlled. And they sure do make a great pasta sauce when you just use plain unsalted tomato in a box!

Im starting to get creative in the kitchen.

I'm going through a phase! I've been watching a lot of random stuff on youtube. The documentary before was about Charles Ponzi .

Thanks for the ideas, Lemon! I do get a few subscription boxes, but have been trying to cut back. Maybe I need to do them again to make myself happy. I did just get one for D that focuses on a different animal each month (Christmas gift).

And movies and books are good ideas. For someone with an English degree, the amount of actual books I read (even counting like Kindle books) is...pathetic.

I think for me, it helps to have actual things to look forward to, like on a calendar. So maybe I need to actually put things on my calendar, like watch [show] or start reading [x]. And I miss concerts, so maybe I need to start watching some on Youtube (or elsewhere)--Dr. T had suggested at one point putting them on the TV (can do with Amazon fire), turning out the lights, and watching with a beer (same with football games--well, with lights--and pretending I'm at a bar). So maybe I need to schedule stuff like that, silly as it may seem (football already scheduled, of course).

We do get takeout a couple times a week, too--maybe I should put that on the schedule? Because something I miss is just us going out to dinner during the week, like I'd think "OK, Friday night we'll go to x place." I felt OK eating outside for a brief period there, but now it's getting colder and our COVID numbers are rising, so I feel less comfortable doing that.

The rain beat me i was waiting til today to mow the lawn as i ran out of petrol. It rained quite heavily over night and now i will have to wait a couple of days to mow again. Another reason to get a battery operated lawnmower right? At least it has cooled off a bit.

Yesterday my little dog was nosing under the outdoor tabel when suddenly he freaked out and ran around shaking his head i was worried he ws bitten by something. When i finally caught him and tried to have a look there was a massive locust at least 6 inches long caught in the hair on his ear. Poor thing was terrified.

Can you send some rain my way? Southern California is in desperate need. It's a La Nina year which means dry and warm winter. We need the rain! We are way behind on our water tables for the year. Plus I haven't gotten to wear my new duck boots!

Hopefully the rain clears up for you soon!

(Artie ranting alert) How in the sam h e double hockey sticks did i ever take calls 8 hours a day 40 hours a week?! Today about did me in and now I have our final class meeting in 3 hours. And our final 10-12 page paper due on Friday. It's worth 100 points so.... in the grand scheme of things, I just did the math, if I do only the bare minimum so at least I'm turning in something, it doesn't matter how badly I do I'll still pass the class. Halleluja pass the beer.

(thus, let us hope, marking the end of "The Good Little Girl" at last.)

And he said he wasn't really sure what to tell me, that looking at his calendar, he doesn't really have anything on there (I wanted to be like, "What about sessions with me?") aside from renewing his state psychological license later this month. I said that was important, and he said, "But not exciting." He said no trips, no social events, how there aren't many places you'd want to meet outside right now (getting cold in my area). I suppose he refrained from putting "time off" on there to protect my feelings. But it was still rather depressing when my T struggles to come up with ideas of (scheduled) things for me to look forward to. I said, "Well, I look forward to watching football, though my team isn't doing well right now...but I still like watching it." How I had another couple months of that, if COVID doesn't take it away.
Have you thought about changing the outlook? Things always change - think about the farriers once the model t took off - the fact that this is a pandemic doesn't matter really. You can find hobbies and stuff still. I am having a great time right now dehydrating things - not because I need it but just because I find it interesting to see how it works. You could even do it with your kid and then eat the results (dehydrated marshmallows are all the rage on some of the dehydrating forums). Science, food, fun and you can't really screw it up. What if you tried brewing your own beer? That is an intense hobby with a lot of people who like talking about it and experimenting with it. I even saw an rv show where a couple was buying an rv to take around visiting craft breweries all across the us.

Thanks, SD. You can dehydrate marshmallows? Well, I have learned something today... H actually did some beer brewing and has all the equipment--we even have a kegerator (minifridge converted so that it can hold two tiny kegs of beer with taps). He hasn't been too successful in his attempts lately, so maybe I could try? I also like pickled things and have supplies to make pickled...whatever, but haven't gotten around to making them yet (like months after I got the supplies). Maybe I could try actually doing that?

I was also talking to T recently about how I had fond memories of baking cookies with my mom, like snickerdoodles, sugar cookies (which I'd then decorate), etc. So maybe could try that with D?

Cooking is something I've been trying to get into more, too, and Dr. T is very on board with that. As it's something creative but also practical, like we all need to eat. And H tends to like what I create (even if it's just from my head vs. an actual recipe). So I think I need to be continuing to do that.

Much of it is having actual stuff on the calendar so to speak, but no reason I couldn't put, say, "make risotto" on Thursday or "bake cookies" on Friday.

dehydrated marshmallows... hmm interesting! would that be kinda like the marshmallows in lucky charms cereal??

I ordered an air fryer lid for my instant pot, it came today, and I see that you can dehydrate too using that. Time to find some recipes....

I think I just heard Etsy using the Queen of the Night aria from The Magic Flute in the advertisement. Really the advertising agency should look up the translation - it is not exactly sell baubles material
