Couch 222: Create, Cooperate, Harmonize

The worst are Mother's and Father's Day cards, I think. Some will go on about very specific things, too, like, "I loved that you took me fishing and we'd kick soccer balls in the backyard and you took me to that art museum field trip." Like things that wouldn't apply to most experiences. I'm picky about buying cards and will only buy ones that seem to apply to my own experiences and sentiments.

Shopping for cards for my parents became much more difficult after spending a bit of time in therapy, too...Like, "Not buying that 'you're not just my mom, you're my friend' card anymore, because you really tried to push yourself into my life and push your values on me and make me into an extrovert when I'm an introvert and seemed jealous of some friends I was close to, so yeah...."

Perhaps a whole new line of greeting cards is in order? The "Post-Therapy" line perhaps?

I see the problem, but greeting cards are not written for the most part with honesty in mind, they’re written to make the recipient feel good.

Go for the Shoebox humor cards is my advice.

My father and his sister had this thing where she’d send him the most insulting card she could find, and he in turn would send her the gooeyest, sweetest, sappiest card he could find.

On the subject of cards, one year when my oldest niece was about 4 years old, she sat on Santa's lap and instead of asking for a doll or a Lego set or whatever it is most children want, she asked him in her sweet little voice for a Christmas card! So I always try to find her a lovely Christmas card that she will like, even though she is 16 now, while her brothers get the $1.99 ones. Am I in the minority that I save the Christmas cards that people send me every year? I have envelopes and boxes full of them.


The next year my niece asked Santa for a garden!

I watched 500 days of summer yesterday. Tom works for a card factory as a writer . He has this monologue, before he quits saying that they wrote the cards because people could not express themselves.

Im glad somebody around here is edumacated!

Every year we get christmas lights and every year the cats chew through them

I made french fries tonight in my instant pot, using the air fryer lid I just bought myself for Christmas. They turned out pretty darn good! Next time I will put salt on them - I was so excited to try it out that I actually forgot!!

I fled my family on mother's day in my country so I've accidentally made mother's day a looooottttt better for myself.

Parents were always mad I never got them cards but I never got birthday or Xmas celebrations sooooo...

I entered a chocolate competition with my sisters on instagram, which ends on the 18th. So far other than us there's only three other entries so I'm hopeful we can actually win.

We had to make decorations using the chocolate paper wrappers. We went for Christmas jumpers.

Got to "meet" Dr. T's cat today during session, complete with a butt in front of the camera. I asked about the name: "Penny." Me: "Oh, one of the people on PC's cats is named that!" Thinking of you, Artie! Gray tabby. He pet her a bit, then she wandered off.

New cat, herself a gray tabby, says that in this at least Dr. T has taste.

Yesterday I was struggling a lot. I texted friends, my T, and even former T. Former T got back to me and said how she understood (I knew she would) but to stay strong. That I would be glad that I did. OMG I love her. Just as if it were two years and a half ago and she were still my T. I think I shall love her until the day I pass from this world. Talking to regular T helped too but hearing from Former T was like amazing. We worked together for 10 years so she knew just what to say. I love her so much!

I feel the same way about L.

My T has at least one cat. She is light colored and very vocal. I see her occasionally. Her name is Stella I think. My female cat is always jumping up on camera during my sessions. She is rather calming for me.

I only learnt recently that my ExT had a dog and that he let other clients bring their pets in to session. He never once suggested that to me even though he knew my dog was a great comfort.

I was lying wake with my eyes closed this morning thinking bout getting up when a felt a spider on my face after a second or two of panic turns out it was cats whiskers

omg me too. i almost peed myself the other night during class, i saw out of the corner of my eye what i thought was a spider crawling on my leg but after my heart rate normalized again I realized it was a tangle of hair out of my hairbrush that must have blown out of the trash can (which is right next to where I sit and under the ceiling fan).

I'm doing a Covid compliant meet up with my bestie tonight. We are going to meet on my porch (outside) with masks, and stay 6 feet apart. We are going to exchange presents and chat for a little bit. It's going to be a short visit but it is better than nothing. I haven't seen her since March? April? I miss her so much!

I finally got to look at L's copy of Jung's Red Book today! I told her it just sits there under the table and taunts me every week haha. It's very expensive so I would never buy it for myself, but I'm so happy that she has a copy.
