I figured out that if I pull my hair down because it is kind of curled under that it is more shoulder length than chin length. But it just sort of curls up. That's okay. I really love my new hair cut. Feels so good. I actually want to wash my hair and work on figuring out how to style it. That's a first.

They looked delicious. I would have eaten them too. Of course, I love bread. I switched to whole grain for Noom though and although it's okay, I don't like, love it. But I'm eating it.

It might appear that they were walking you.

I would pay for that picture. There probably already is one on the internet.

Not to be confused with a picture of two dogs, one standing on the other's shoulders, wearing a long raincoat and a hat, and pushing a shopping cart. Thats my favorite.

Nowadays Im eating an amaranth quinoa bread. It tastes like i dont know what! I had it with my coffee today as you would have toast or a coffee biscuit. It was delicious but very weird. Crunchy but not scratchy, earthy yet sweet. I had (canned) roast beef yesterday so i think im not very hungry today.

I'm not usually one to get too concerned about crazy spring weather in North Texas, but then again, I have never heard the weather forecaster get that specific about our neighborhood (come to find out, he lives in our area, so he was personally concerned about his wife and kids). So, my son and I and our dog all get in our bathtub (can I just say we have a small bathtub. LOL).

It got LOUD. It was one of the strangest sounds I have ever heard. I have never experienced that sound before. It wasn't just hard rain and the usual hard wind sounds; it wasn't hail. It was something else that I can't quite describe. I can only assume there was rotation right above us. Fortunately, nothing touched down and all was well, but I can do without ever hearing and experiencing that again.
Glad you and your family are OK.

Had a good session this morning addressing my persistent need to feel productive. I think that for a long time, I poured academic/career achievements into a cavern inside in my soul that actually needed care and appreciation. Not sure how exactly this will change my outlook on things, or change what I do every day, but it feels really good to at least loosen that stuck belief that I have to be successful in the traditional sense in order to be worthy of anything.

It reminds me of this blog my BFF back home recommended to me called "the nap ministry." Their theme is "rest is resistance."

I'm glad you had a good session. I've had similar topics come up in therapy, including recently. I currently work freelance from home and don't get a whole bunch of feedback (well, I did just get a small raise on one of the contracts). And I feel like I'm missing that. Some of my identity in school (including college, then, more recently, grad school) was tied to having good grades and doing well. I didn't get the validation I needed from my parents (well, aside from the doing well in school aspect--but that had downsides when I got, say, a C in chorus). So those achievements provided some of that to me. Which sounds similar to what you're saying.

So, if you figure out how to then apply that to everyday life, let me know!

Trigger warning (COVID and fire):

Possible trigger:

I didn't want to admit him that I *do* have a different stuffed animal that I got a couple years ago that I associate with him and snuggle sometimes--a donkey (aka jacka$$--I was upset with him when I bought it!).

We just got news that we are having modified graduation ceremonies in person. That is good news. The students will get to be hooded in person.

My nephew is a senior in High School this year and they are taking their senior school trip to El Salvador. He will be gone all of Easter break plus three days.

They are actually traveling during the pandemic. I'm surprised the district even allowed that. Interesting. Pretty much all school travel requiring overnight stays has been halted around here.

Yeah, he goes to a private school so the rules are totally different than if he was in public school. For example, they have been attending school in person this whole time, with an option for online learning, whereas the public schools have been online learning only.

I'm nervous for him to go to El Salvador. Even if it wasn't a pandemic year I would be nervous for him to go. But I guess he is looking forward to it. He raised all the money so he could go. And then raised too much so he gave some money to another girl who was behind in raising her money.

I want to go to Ethiopia in a couple of years--not in a pandemic year--to visit my sponsored child. But I need to save up some money and the only country I've been to besides the US is Canada so I need to do a lot of research on what it is like to travel abroad.

My brother-in-law goes to El Salvador frequently. His church has a mission church there that they regularly take supplies to and help work on their church property. (In fact, the El Salvador church named it's church after my sister when her funeral memorials were used to do a great deal of work there.) It should be a great trip for your nephew. Private school definitely explains why they are able to still go.

I've been to Canada when I was a kid, then a few years ago H and I visited my brother when he lived in Italy and while there we drove into Switzerland.

This makes me feel better. Yes, they are doing some sort of religious activity. My church has a missionary in Haiti that we support and our church has gone on mission there several times to help her build stuff for her free school or do outreaches or whatever she needs. I'll donate but I never have felt led to go there myself. But I also didn't attend the church when she did so I don't have that personal connection like some of our members do.

Jessica Walters died. I thought she was so funny. I loved Archer and Arrested Development.

Thinking about getting highlights in my hair now. My stylist suggested it. Dang. It's been too long since I've been pampered because I would usually be like no way! But it felt so good being pampered the other day at the salon that I'm thinking about it.

Guys, when did I become so broken? I just went to the dollar store because we needed envelopes, walking up to the store I tried to step up onto the sidewalk from the parking lot and tripped over my own feet, and fell down in what must have been spectacular fashion because one of the cashiers came running out to make sure I was okay. I'm like, other than being a clumsy idiot, I'm fine. I skinned up one knee and twisted the other ankle, and cracked the screen protector on my phone cuz I was holding it. (not looking at it, can't even use that excuse, it was just in my hand with my keys). After I fell I almost wanted to just lay there and cry. Of course my dislike of people looking at me prevented that from happening. I think I better ask L for 2 sessions next week. I'm a fragile, broken mess.

Hugs, Artie. It's okay. We all trip over our own feet now and again. I've memorably face planted a few times. It's humiliating, but we all stumble and fall from time to time. Even Biden did it the other day, three times in a row.

I trip over and sprain an ankle almost every year... it's fine, some of us are a bit clumsy or were at some point and now our joints are messed up. Just make sure you know what to do in that situation, I most of the time can't walk after it and if I know my partner can come get me, it's a huge anxiety relief.

I'm sorry you fell, Artie. I'm glad you didn't break any bones. When I broke my ankle, I missed the last step at my Pdoc's office and obviously landed on my ankle wrong. I laid on the ground for a good couple of minutes trying to get my bearings, like "What just happened?" Then I got up and walked on my broken ankle. Went to the doctor the next day, still walking on my broken ankle, had x-rays, walked on my broken ankle for three more days until my Doctor called and said, "Your ankle's broken. Don't walk on it." Too late! Now I am especially careful about steps and curbs and anywhere where I might step wrong or trip because I don't want to end up in another cast. We've all done what happened to you. You're not an idiot. You're human. I'm sorry you are feeling so fragile and broken right now. I wish we could gather you up on the couch and lift your twisted ankle on a pillow and bring you some tea and help you feel better. Even though we can't do that in person, know that we are all thinking of you and hoping you feel better soon! You got this Artie. You can do it.

Eta - artie! You know, after a certain age, the dr starts asking you "have you fallen" since your last visit to them. It triggers something for them. Theres like a list of common shyte that happens to people that sucks you into this medical PLAN.
