Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.

Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely.

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means.

It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("T") - we speak from experience.

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Grab a cushion, a spot on the floor, or an armchair in the corner and make yourselves comfy.

Googled 229 - thems the pills! Dont wanna get those cornfused!
Thanks for this!

Holy carp, we just got a pretty major lightning strike like right across the idk 100-200, 400 yards away? Like it hit a power station right across from my apartment.

Still here! I think the other apartment bldg (there are two of us, east and west) might have gotten disconnected.

Its supposed to be cool here for a while too.

Poli, best wishes 18 hrs away? Hokey smokes. Are you going back to family?

Btw, sorry for the misspelling in the couch title.

Thanks Unaluna for the new couch! Kit takes a pillow and a blanket and curls up next to the window. New cat Helen lays on her lap and cat Amelia plays outside the window in the sun.

Thanks for asking LT.

She is doing pretty good. Her right eye got goopy, with green stuff coming out of it. Luckily we have her on antibiotics from the surgery so it seems to be catching the infection. I have seen more of a clear discharge lately from her eye and she has a vet appointment on Thursday and I am definitely going to bring up the eyes in case the infection isn't gone. She has been coughing or sneezing (I haven't figured out which) a little so I think it's an upper respiratory infection which the shelter said that they had some cats come down with that. But luckily the antibiotics seem to be helping that also.

I worked with her a lot this weekend to come out of the room. And she did. When we put the dog in her crate, the she came out and explored. She also got on Amelia's perch and sat there for the longest time. I tried putting her on there again this morning but she jumped down immediately. Maybe I should have held her for a little while first. She seems like she is getting over most of her shyness although she still prefers to be in the guest room over any other room but I did have her eat in the kitchen all weekend so she could get used to it. And she did get down and do a little investigating. Amelia seems mostly curious about her as does Emma, my Mom's dog. Emma likes to chase her though so I am trying to teach Emma that Helen is off limits. But when Helen runs the dog chases. Amelia has gotten smart and she walks very slowly and stealthily around Emma and that way Emma doesn't chase her.

I am anxious for Thursday to come so I can take her to the vet. It doesn't look like she has had any shots, including rabies, so I really want to get her vaccinated. Especially with the collar coming off on Thursday and I will introduce her to outside after that. I want her to be vaccinated against Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS and all of that.

How are your guinea pigs doing? Are you still at the beach?

The title got my attention. Only because I have these pills, and I didn’t know mixing it with Ativan was deadly. Was in the ER the next day with a pulse of 44 and palpitations. This only happened last week.

Read everyone’s posts and I hope the weather has been better. No tornados or heat waves!
The weather where I am is still mild. It’s just rain or cloudy days. Not quite summer.

I hope everyone is having a great day or night depending where your located!!

I've been sleeping/lounging around the house in this old light blue t-shirt for so long that the fabric has several holes in it on the front and along the shoulder seams. That's fine. It's still comfortable (very soft by now) and functional. Except that I catch these holes in my peripheral vision and startle myself because I think there's a bug on me. Annoying brain.

Glad to hear she's doing better and hope the eye is nothing serious. In terms of her shots, do they not give them at the shelter? I forget how it worked with the dog we very briefly adopted, though that was through a dog rescue, so may have been different (my guinea pigs were from a shelter, but they don't get any shots).

We got home Saturday. The pigs seem very happy to be home and are doing well, thanks! I didn't realize until yesterday morning that they hadn't really made any noise at all at the beach, when they're usually making noises to me begging for food and sort of chattering with each other. So they've resumed that again, along with this thing called zoomies, where they race around the cage (I think cats do something like that, too, right? like a sudden burst of activity?)

Cats, dogs...I think most creatures have a zoomie setting.

Happiness is meeting a friend downtown for lunch and finding and eating at a Middle Eastern place that serves chicken shawarma on a gluten free pita. I didn’t think I’d ever have a chicken shawarma pita again.
