Mom got admitted into the hospital. They ruled out stroke. But they have a bunch of other tests to run. Mom was ready to come home but the doctor said he didn't think that was a good idea. I took a long break at work and went to the hospital to see her and drop off her glasses and a sweatshirt and a few things that she needed. Although how she is going to wear the sweatshirt with the IV is beyond me so I just put it over her legs because she was cold. My sister is asking if she should come down but I don't know what to tell her. They probably aren't going to find anything. But at least it wasn't a stroke. I guess they did a Cat Scan. My Dad didn't seem to really know what tests were run. Hopefully Mom will be well enough to be discharged tomorrow but we will have to wait and see.

She tends to drop her potassium even though she takes four potassium pills a day but her body doesn't absorb it. It causes the blood pressure to sky rocket and causes nausea, dizziness etc. I don't know if she was having nausea but she was having extreme dizziness so I wonder if it is the potassium thing. She's been hospitalized a few times because of that issue and they end up having to give her IV potassium. Waiting for news which is always hard. My coworker prayed with me though and that was nice.
I hope they get it all figured out. Thinking of you.

Chili mac is my favorite - I like chicago style hot dogs. I don't mix chili and hot dogs although I do like hotdogs with baked beans but no bun - the bun just gets soggy and is useless. Much like the therapists I hired

At the airport waiting for my cross-country flight to take off. I'm so happy that I'm going to see my BF tomorrow morning! I'll only be in town for 36h, so we intentionally didn't plan anything other than picking up breakfast from our favorite spot on Saturday and then having brunch with BF + BFF + BFF's fiancé on Sunday (they all know each other and like each other and we've gone on hikes together and stuff). I thought I might be feeling weird about wanting things to be a particular way or us to have some particular conversation, but really all I want to do is low-key hang out with him for a day and a half. Ever since my T pointed out that BF is obviously invested in this relationship, or else he wouldn't have taken off work during my vacation in November, I've been able to chill out a little.

Hugs, Kit. There's a big "better safe than sorry" mentality when it comes to deciding whether or not to keep someone in the hospital, so it's possible they're just being ultra-careful. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts. Let us know how she does

That can be a smart move. The ambulance goes straight to the Emergency Room, no questions asked. If he tried to check her in himself there would be delays and paperwork. He might even fail.

Today is a heavy day, so I wanted to achieve something.
So far, I have achieved a pile of paper that isn't the drawing I was hoping for.
Beginning to wonder why I booked an art workshop on Wednesday.

Can anyone here jive? Una? You seem the most likely candidate as a woman of great sophistication and adventure. My partner has been teaching me to jive tonight. Well, I say teaching, she kept laughing (which didn't do much for my confidence, I have to admit) and I kept forgetting that back came after forward. Seriously, dancing is really hard! My partner said that people have a natural sense of the steps after a while (again, implying that I didn't) and don't need to memorise them. But how can people remember if they don't memorise?!

Forward-back-one-two-three. Sounds easy, yes? Huh, think on my friends.

My thoughts exactly. And believe me I tried both of those words.

You should see some of the words I try to make up sometimes. Then you look at the answers and something like "tomtit" and "boomy" are actual words. Okay, tomtit sounds like it would be a bird, and it is, but I've never heard of it.

Oh, I tried both, too! It's funny, I'd gotten away from the Spelling Bee because I'm usually terrible at it, for some reason, despite working with words for a living.

And yeah, some of what they accept is puzzling to me... It's like words that are considered "crosswordese" that will show up in crosswords, but you never hear in real life. I've gotten into doing the NYT crossword daily and am in the crosswords subreddit. Which often will be people saying, "What the heck is a _____?"
