If he's a good doctor/p-doc, then he should support your getting a second opinion. They should want what's best for their patients. I hope this Dr. K can help.

I think I made backup T cry. Do I get some sort of extra points for that? It was R, who I'd seen a few times in the past, but the most recent time was about 2 years ago. She was helpful in talking through some stuff about Dr. T and my vision for how my relationship with him would be a year from now. Like, less dependent, getting support/guidance from him, but seeing him less often and being generally OK with his going out of town or canceling a session. She was referring to it as my "painting" of the future. I think having a vision like that will help me. And also believing I can get there.

She was also helpful in processing something from yesterday's doctor's appointment.

So glad your appointment with R went well, LT. I don't think I've ever made a T cry so yes, you do get extra points for that. I like your painting of the future. That sounds good. I'm glad she was helpful with the medical stuff too. Dr K was pretty dismissive about my upcoming diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. It's nice when they are actually helpful!

I doubt I would have noticed if a therapist was crying but I also doubt that would have been a conclusion I drew from their actions even if I did pay attention to them. I think so little is actually worth crying about that I would never think a therapist was crying near me when I can't think of any reason one would have to cry over anything I said.

Thanks, Kit. I'm sorry Dr. K was so dismissive...it makes sense that you're worried about those, and he should have validated that. Are you sure there are no other T options in your area? Or, if you're willing to meet with one virtually, I'd imagine you could meet with any one in the state.

I will try extreme sisters. Right now im watching Acorn / Robson Green / Wire in the Blood. Robson (from Grantchester) plays a psychologist helping the cops profile serial killers. Kinda gory and Robson is cuter now that hes older but not bad back then.

Info cried once. Well, got weepy is more accurate, since crying implies more tears streaming down the face. I wasn’t sure, so I asked. She was.

I suppose it made sense—I had told her a threat I received from 2ex (major trigger)

Possible trigger:

Otherwise, I haven’t noticed if my therapists have cried. It wouldn’t make me feel better if they did, and it didn’t when Info cried. It doesn’t make me feel better when she gets angry, either, which has happened a few times.

Both of the women said my eulogy for my person made them cry -but I wasn't there in person when they read it - I tend to think they speak in hyperbole rather than meant it literally.

I had to see a locum doctor today. It was awful. I have an nderstanding with my doctor that she can advice and i can make up my own mind and do my own thing and she wont lecture me. This foctor went on and on so i stopped listening. I got my script so the trip wasnt wasted.

Crappy day at work. We were down two people (we were 5/7) and then we got about twice as many requests to help as we usually get. It was my fourth day, so I don’t know how anything works or where anything is or how to use the weird phone-based pager system etc etc.

The thing that really got me was my attending (W) snapping at me. She asked me to page someone but it turns out that particular person can’t be paged directly. I asked her if she could help me troubleshoot and she said yes, then changed her mind and said, “let me finish this quick note first.” Fine by me. But the other attending (S) notices that I’m stuck and says, “chihiro, can I help you figure this out?” So I start explaining to S what the issue is, but W interrupts and says, “chihiro, can you just be quiet for a few minutes?”

I was flabbergasted. I wasn’t even effing talking to W! I start saying, “sorry, S was showing me how to do the thing,” but she says, “there’s just too much noise in here” (it’s a big workroom and two of the PAs were also discussing something). So I shut up. S apologizes (which also annoyed me bc S is our site director foe the hospital and I would have expected her to stick up for me). And I wait a few minutes until W can show me how to page the person.

I honestly felt like crying. Which is weird, because I hardly ever cry (or get choked up) and am used to other doctors snapping at me for various reasons. But also not completely insane because people in this specialty are known for being nice, and I just wasn’t expecting it. It’s one thing if I’m girding my loins going into an interaction with someone, knowing I’m going to be screamed at. But it’s another if I think I’m in this warm fuzzy environment and am effing trying my best but don’t know how everything works yet (b/c it is my fourth day on the job ffs) and I get smacked like a disobedient puppy.

I recognize that other people wouldn’t be upset by something like this. I wish I weren’t. But here we are.

It doesn't matter if other people would or would not be upset by it, it effected you. Being snapped at isn't a nice experience to go through.

Hope you can do something nice for yourself after work.

Chihiro, that would have upset me as well. It's just plain rude to tell someone to stop talking. Especially considering you weren't even talking to her! If she can't handle much background noise, then it seems like she shouldn't be working in a hospital.

I hope the rest of the week is better...
