Ugh, I'm sorry NP. Sending good thoughts that your job is safe.

I remember going through that where I worked years ago (just did the math and wow, it's been over 20 years now). I'd been there like 14 years and losing my job was a painful time. I honestly had thought I'd retire from that company. I got an ok severance package and was on unemployment for a while before I found a new job. It took me a LONG time to let go of the resentment over all of that because it was such a scandal at the time, the CEO had been cooking the books and stuff. He went to prison of course and he died about 4 years ago. I think I came back from it all pretty okay, I worked some temp jobs just after, and i'm at my 3rd company since then, current one the longest by far.

I was just rewatching some videos of Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmy Lou Harris. ELH went through a butch phase

I was thinking this morning it's funny how things work out sometimes. I likely never would have ended up in Arizona had I not gotten laid off 20+ years ago. And I so love living here.

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling anxious about the layoffs. It's completely understandable to feel that way. Uncertainty can be unsettling, especially when it involves something as significant as job security.

While you may not have control over the decisions being made, try to focus on the aspects of your work that you can control and take care of yourself during this time.

I couldn't speak to my usual contact yesterday, but the person I spoke to has added a call with me to her calendar for next Tuesday. That's the earliest possible point I could do because of work.

Then R is back to work next Thursday, and my experience of the talk will be top of the agenda.

I'm finding it hard that I'm still feeling the emotional impact of it.
It's not uncommon for important discussions or events to have a lasting effect on our emotions.

Processing and dealing with this can take time, and it's completely normal to still feel their impact even after the event has passed.

It's positive that you have another opportunity to discuss the matter further next Tuesday.

In the meantime, it might be helpful to engage in self-care activities that can help you manage your emotions. Maybe a drawing or a painting session could help?

I am at school and a large batch of students are in a twizzy about some group who continually give misplaced and unsolicited advice to another group- spring break in two weeks and the faculty may be looking more forward to it than the students.

I do have to laugh at the number of anxiety disorders they announce they have -because it has always been a profession for the anxious. Having an anxiety problem is practically a prereq for becoming a lawyer.

Thanks, Cake.

I've been drawing and trying to keep up with my journal so that I don't clam up when the opportunity comes.

Hahaha. I love you Una.

I thought leaving a blank trigger warning might have been more of an potential issue. I do that in the dear T thread when I talk about my weight and gym.

It might not be for everyone but I'm very orthodox and would need to get married first before that became an issue for me.

I could actually see myself in gynaecology, but that would mean even more exams and more studying, but the past 10 years has taken so much out of me and I'm tired.

I'm potentially doing an extra 6 months unpaid gig after the summer in a small town in a European country then I might start applying for admin roles instead when I come back to the UK.

The desert landscapes and outdoor hiking does seem to suit you better. Do you have any trip

(I've never visited the US and my opinion of areas is just based mainly from movies.)

I hate moving. Trying to get apartments to understand ESAs and county animal limits is annoying. I constantly have to tell them to contact their lawyers. Then again, if H would stop getting dogs and stick to two, we wouldn't have a problem.

I pretty much hated the winters back in Missouri. I do not enjoy cold and snow! I love the desert here. Snow for the most part stays up on top of the mountains surrounding us, where I believe it belongs haha! we get a little bit every winter down here in the valley but it melts quickly if it even sticks at all.

I'm going to visit my son in May up in Oregon. can't wait!! It's beautiful up there to visit, but I wouldn't live there cuz they get too much snow and ice in the winter for this converted desert rat!

It's mid-afternoon and I haven't been called into a meeting yet. I feel that's a good sign. Won't know though until we get the "we're done laying people off" email.

Hugs, Scarlet. I hope you find a place that can accept your dogs. Could it maybe be easier renting from, say, a private owner rather than an apartment/townhouse complex that's managed by a rental company (assuming that's what you're trying to do). Or, I'm sure you wouldn't want to do this, but if it becomes too much of an obstacle, could a dog or two (not sure how many you have right now) possibly be rehomed?
Thanks for this!
