On my best days, I look like Zach Galifianakis on his worst days. Yes, with beard. Perimenopause hits hard.

As I recall I’m Nia Vardalos.

I always think of SD as Holland Taylor.

IS that my big fat greek wedding?

I see SD as a brutally hardened Mariel Hemingway.

I like Holland Taylor = m hemingways voice annoys me to no end -but she is attractive - I may still be holding a grudge against her for her character in Personal Best. I am kind of more like dawn french as harry potter. But with shorter hair and no scar

Sorry LT-I wasn’t back on yesterday after that comment. You’re Julia Robert’s circa 90’s but with brown hair instead of red and deep brown eyes.

Yes, ATAT is the My Big Fat Greek Wedding actress. She aged beautifully. Have you seen her in the 3rd movie?. (I think the movie was a flop).

I have more but I’m at work.

Edited with correct spelling
*Ginnifer Goodwin*

Yep. You know I thought it was spelled with a G but my search yielded how it was spelled at birth. I was confused. Ha.

All good! I do have deep brown eyes and brown hair, but my mouth/smile is considerably smaller than Roberts' . And not movie star attractive!

Hi Couch,

I went to work this morning, and I'm so grateful that I pushed through.

I explained the situation to my boss, and she was able to provide a level of reassurance that I didn't think possible.

TW for discussion of the search.

Possible trigger:

I quivered through the conversation, and I've still got work to do regarding how triggering all this has been, but...there is some grace in evidence, it seems.

Emailed R this afternoon for reassurance that she's still able to hold difficult things.

Now to begin the recovery from this situation.

I think I look more like Sara Ramirez when she had long hair, but she's a bit more golden/ tanned than I am.

I was going through my photos, but felt too self conscious of the weight I have gained since my running days to post publicly.

This is the first time in around 7 years that I have successfully uploaded an image here.

The URL thing always didn't come properly.

I'm sorry you're going through a lot.

That must have been an incredibly emotionally charged experience. It’s powerful how sometimes we become connected to events or people in ways we don’t expect.

Recovery from something so intense starts with acknowledging how deeply it’s affected you—and you’ve already taken the first step by recognizing the need to heal. That’s huge.

Start by giving yourself space to feel everything that comes up. It’s okay if you’re cycling through shock, sadness, confusion, or even numbness.Talking to R or someone you trust can help make sense of the experience, especially as you untangle what it meant for you personally.

Perhaps you might also benefit from grounding yourself in routines or activities that bring you comfort or a sense of stability. Like a favorite book, or movie.

Recovery isn’t about forgetting, it’s about integrating the experience in a way that feels manageable and meaningful. Be gentle with yourself, and take it one step at a time.

Thanks Cake,

I really appreciate your understanding and suggestions.
I am relieved that my boss was able to offer that specific reassurance, and yet I still feel cheated that J.T. was here all the time...

I could have reconnected with him over a practice that means the world to me.

Roll on Thursday.

Maybe ya'll have some suggestions. Because of H's job situation, I was really afraid we might go homeless. And I was homeless at 18. Tonight, H and I saw a homeless man with a dog, and to in a sense give back, we helped the man out a little. I was thinking... if I was able to get over my social anxiety, I would like to help the homeless. I don't want to put myself in danger, but I'd want to help the community not just women and children. Any ideas about what that might look like? I know there's probably food kitchens, but anything else?

That seems like a great idea! I'd see if there are any organizations in your area that serve the homeless and check their websites. There may be things you could do that are more behind the scenes, such as sorting food on the shelves in a food pantry or sorting clothing donations.
Thanks for this!

Make care packages to hand out - a ziploc with toothpaste, lotion, hand sanitizer, nail clippers, wipes, a snack, hand warmers, or whatever seems useful for folks in your area. You can buy mini versions of all these things in bulk on Amazon.

I have a Amazon wishlist I put together at one point to save some items: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/l...?ref_=wl_share. I don't think you can see my IRL name on there. Please let me know if you can.

Note: I never actually did this. Don't want to take credit for something I never followed through on.
Thanks for this!

Thanks all! I'll definitely look into those ideas. After sleeping on it, I think I'll start my research today. Maybe this will help me find a purpose in this life since being a mother will never happen.

And no, NP, I don't see your name. When I click account, it goes to my H's name.

After the 'impact', feelings of anxiety should lessen, right?

Almost a week later, I'm still having moments of feeling queasy.

A week is not a long time. Be gentle with yourself.

My body often takes time to come down from stress/anxiety, too.
