And if you pay out of pocket, does your T reduce his/her fees?

Do you pay out of pocket for T or use insurance?

I use insurance and just pay the co-pay, but my T says if I can't afford the co-pay then she will reduce it for me for a while.

I use insurance and pay a $25.00 copay. So, with insurance, I pay $200.00 a month to see T.

Vocational Rehab pays for 1x a week and she sees us the second time pro bono. She's very generous with us. Do you pay out of pocket for T or use insurance?

I pay 100% out of pocket. I tried to get insurance to reimburse when I first started, but the claims I submitted were denied, even though they had paid 90% for my previous T, who wasn't nearly as good. Do you pay out of pocket for T or use insurance?

My T charges the same fee whether clients can get reimbursed by insurance or not. Riptide, that is a great idea to charge clients less who can't get reimbursed by insurance! I wonder if there is a subtle way I could pass that idea on to T? Do you pay out of pocket for T or use insurance?

I have insurance and it's a $25 copay per visit, no limit.

Some of the therapists I called when I was shopping around did say they had sliding-scale rates for uninsured patients (based on your income).

Doesn't hurt to ask...

I pay myself and it's great to not have insurance involved, sticking their nose into it, requiring excessive record-keeping and reporting to them (it's none of their beeswax!).

I don't know if she reduced her fee initially, but when I wanted to go from every two weeks to every week she reduced her fee.

I used insurance until I burned through my allotted 30 visits per year. His fee is $90 for insurance patients, and I paid a $30 co-pay. Now that my insurance has run out, he charges $60 per session and I pay out of pocket - although he did say that we could "work something out" if I couldn't do $60. $60 is a stretch for me, but I want to pay him what he deserves, so I find a way to do it.

My insurance covers my T visits. There is no way I could pay out of pocket to see my T.

I have no health insurance so yep, I pay out of pocket. My T charges $125 per visit but does have a sliding scale fee for uninsured. She told me that when it gets to be a struggle paying full price to let her know and she will reduce it by income. I can do full price for awhile.....and when I think of the other things that aren't good for me that I could be spending the money on, well, I surely would rather spend it on my T every 2 weeks Do you pay out of pocket for T or use insurance? So I guess I'm making good choices right? Do you pay out of pocket for T or use insurance?

I was paying on a sliding scale fee . Based on our income, and then our health insurance paid some too. What was left of what insurance and we paid, the county paid some too. Our county has a mental health program for low income/ no income people. So like now with my husbands job being on lockout,I dont have to pay anything for T, pdoc or case manager services as long as he is out of work. This helps out alot as I am still working on things. Tomorrow is our last day of health insurance too. So I need to go get what meds I can get before that runs out. Always sumpin lol.

My old insurance had limits - it was like $10 copay for the first 10 visits, then $20 for the next 10 visits, then $30 for the next 10, and a max of 30 visits in a year, and I think a lifetime max per patient.

Why they have limits...I have no idea. I think insurance is very much screwed up in so many ways.

I'm lucky now that my insurance covers therapy with no limits for $25 copays. The downside? They won't pay for my meds. Lovely.

I pay totally out of pocket for T and she's expensive. And she doesn't do sliding scale. Where I last worked, insurance covered T for a max of 500 / year, which is barely better than nothing, it covered like 3 sessions. Not sure what my insurance will be like at the current job - haven't been there 3 months yet, so I haven't seen the plan, but I'm not expecting it to be much better.

Paying my T is basically the difference between my renting and paying a mortgage. Oh well, I figure my mental health is more important right now.

I have done both paid out of pocket and insurance. Since I'm on disability I get medicare/medicaid so I don't have pay for my sessions. When I had Walmart insurance I had to pay half and some of those bills got written off with my bankruptcy. I also have gone to a sliding scale place the county mental health. I like where I am now that both my insurances take care of me for my therapy and pdoc bills.

I have always paid on a sliding fee scale. We set a fee on the first day we met and have always kept it that way. I love not having to deal with insurance because I can see him 62,000 and it doesn't matter. We were talking about seeing if I could get any reimbursement. However, the fee I pay is low considering what it could be for an out-of-pocket fee.

The same goes for my pdoc. I was only paying $50, which is phenomenal for a no-insurance payment. Then the center bumped it up to $60. I no longer see him at the center... I see him at his private office, but we just kept it at $60.

I use insurance and my copay is only $20 per session. I know I am lucky that my insurance has no limit on visits and I have never had any problems with them asking questions or anything.

i pay for it myself.. my insurance doesn't cover enough to pay for two visits even. What can a person do in one visit?

he can't do sliding scale because he belongs to this group.. he isnt the company owner.. but he doesnt exactly work *for* the owner either.. weird.. like, he can set whatever hours or appts he wants, but he cant change the hourly fee for example.

its expensive... $140/hr. i do without, run myself into debt some and whatever i have to do.. THIS is what i need right now.

Well I can't say I have insurance...in PA if you're on SSI and qualify for medicaid then they give you medical assistance...that's what I have. I don't pay anything for counseling or my pdoc and don't pay for my psych meds thanks to this handy card!!!

Under my work insurance, I get $500 per year.
Under my step-dad's insurance, I get $500 per year (I think) and 80% per visit (each visit is $140 although my T charges $150 to some clients)
Under physicians and family services, (my mom is a doctor,) I get 6 sessions up to $100 dollars per session.

Under my mom's roof, I get reimbursed for anything not covered by insurance. Do you pay out of pocket for T or use insurance?
