Costello,

Thanks for your words of support. It means a lot, especially when trying to make sense of it all.

Lately, I've been asking myself how did I get to where I currently am? How did this all happen? My threshold for stress ain't worth the gum on my shoe. I'm so dumbfounded by all of this. I'd like to go back in time to when I didn't have these issues.

You can't go back, but you can go forward. You just don't know what's around the next corner.

Trying my hardest to find ways to get help with health. I'm out of medication and I have a prescription for a medication that I cannot afford even with insurance. Zyprexa 15mg for 30 days the cheapest without insurance is 700 bucks. It scares me.

How frustrating. My son takes Zyprexa - 7.5 for $350. I'm amazed you were quoted the same price - or at least twice the dose for twice the price. I always figure the pharmacies play with the prices with some charging more than others. My son has Medicare, so he only pays $2.60 for his share.

I'm really surprised you've found that Zyprexa was the cheapest. Even since it went off patent last October and became available as a generic, it's really expensive, as you've found. The first time my son had an episode, he was given a prescription for risperdal. He didn't have insurance at the time, so my mom paid cash for it. It was only $80. Also, the older typical antipsychotics should all be much cheaper - haldol, thorazine, etc.

I know people say the side effects are worse on the older meds, but studies don't seem to bear than out. The side effects are different. And some of the worst side effects, like tardive dyskinesia, don't show up until after many years of use. So the drug companies were claiming the new meds didn't cause it, but in fact it's starting to show up in people who've taken the newer meds a long time.

The older meds used to be given at too high a dose, so they seemed like they had worse side effects. At a more sensible dose they can be very helpful with fewer side effects.

Good luck!

Zyprexa isn't the cheapest but my doctor at the hospital told me it would be cheeper compared to the newer medication which is a lie. I've also tried Risperdone, Abilify, and seroquel which I made sure I stated I don't think I was on seroquel long enough to work. Because of my weight gain I was ignored and the doctor there put me on Abilify even after I stated that it didn't work for me. Of course it didn't work and I made sure to mention about older medication because I don't have money. I did try an older drug called Perphenazine and I started having mussel spasms in the face. She told that because of the spasms and Perphenazine is the least likely to make you have them I cannot try any other older medication. Now that I looked up information about Perphenazine there's stuff saying that it's not good to take paxil and perphenazine together... it can cause a bad drug interaction.

Everything's all messed up.

I slept OK. I feel good enough about the day ahead. I wish everyone to have a good day today, or at least tolerable.
Thanks for this!

That's expensive! Is $700 for the brand name or generic form? Have you tried contacting the pharmaceutical company (Eli Lilly) to see if they have a program to help you with your meds? Also, there are med discount programs that might help you as well:

I've been trying to find pharmacies for the needy here in Columbus like there was in Cincinnati Ohio. I couldn't get the Zyprexa filled because the pharmacy in Cincinnati didn't carry drugs like that. I know of a free pharmacy here but it's transportation that's and issue and I have to be there a certain day of the week early in the morning because I'm new plus I don't know if they would carry anti-psychotics because it was like that in Cincinnati. As for the medication the generic is that's going to cost me 700 bucks... the brand name is over 1,000 bucks for me.

Yay, slept fairly decent. Otherwise so far do good, although I'm still slightly reeling from the pissy woman in the dentist office.

I slept a few hours. I had a meta-physical induction ceremony with an entity this morning. He seems good. He thinks I'm an asset. He bought me today. It seems this way to me. I think it will be a good day.

I'm here. Visiting the in-laws. Having okay time. Trouble sleeping lately. I keep having dreams and nightmares that I think happened and then during the day something will come up and I'll realize it had been a dream. Short panic attacks keep coming up. I just wish I could sleep and stay asleep and not dream.

I'm here.

Feeling a bit distressed. Making the mistake of talking to people with different political views than my own. Why do people feel the need to demonize you if they don't agree with your politics?
