Yeah, once you're diagnosed everyone thinks everything you say is part of your illness.

Thanks you guys.
Because of you all, I will be a better parent.
I will listen,
I will be understanding,
I will care
and I will not let a diagnosis of SZ change my daughters worth and value.
What you say is just as important as someone without MI.
Thanks for this!

Newtus have you looked at cbt and in particular cbt for psychosis. It stresses empiricalisim( a problem for a sz but it could help when you understand the basic philosophy and it also stresses evidence and what constitutes evidence. I have a background in the sciences.

And I am also sz.

I'm like an unknown - I have no diagnosis, guess that's a good thing though, makes it less likely that I am sick

cbt for psychosis is not readily available in the states, in fact the only place that I'm aware of that offers it is in Chicago as part of a research study validating its potential benefit in comparison to psychoeducation. Still there are books and I think cbt is a worthwhile approach for anyone to try.

Why would you want that? Why would you want to feed the fearful part of your brain?

I got a pretty good book on sz. Better than the 'cat poo theory' book anyway. It was written for the family of someone with it, but I'm finding it useful for it's resources and how hopeful the tone is. Like how I might not have 'persistent symptoms' my entire life.

I'm afraid of losing my partner to this. I'm really hard to deal with.

I'm also thinking of starting to look into spiritual stuff again, but I'm really afraid to, just in case I get delusional about it again. I used to 'feel' energy. I still don't know if it was real or not.

Maybe not to feed the fearful part of the brain but to be recognized by people with similar values and ideas. It's like if you were a scientist in a highly religious family that thinks science is the work of the devil. Or a very religious person in a very scientific family where everyone thinks religious people are idiots... finding a community can be helpful as long as the people involved are good people. Feeling heard, understood, and recognized is a really important part of the human existance.

Anyway areas that you could look at is the 'scientific method' its a framework for drawing accurate conclusions. Not saying you treat your life as an experiment but if you look at the material you should get a feel of what constitutes evidence. At least it will help to distill in you mind what is faith and belief and what is true or factual. If your a person of faith thats fair enough , but sometimes faith is recognised as fact , especially true in psychosis. At least you should know what the difference between the two are.

That explains a lot. I'm lonely and homely and alone with my thoughts. Too many thoughts spinning around. I'm the antichrist and I'm going to end the world in a ray of light. Fight with me and you will lose. Hoses and noses. Give me a break. Hatred and love are all entwined. What's the point of pointless points? I hope you're happy. I hope you're happy. Hear me? Near me. Hope you're happy. In the. Whatever. I can't think. Am I alone here? I struggle with bugs and lines and fines. Find me. Mind traps and intersecting nothings.

As most people with autism, I have sensory processing issues (maybe sensory processing disorder) and it is affecting me greatly at my new home. I am extremely sensitive to the cold and at my new place my boyfriend's cousin likes to keep the house at 60 degrees Fahrenheit. I can not stand how cold it is and my legs and arms are icicles. My boyfriend does not understand all my disorders so I am printing him out some info on autism and sensory sensitivity. I sent him this article via facebook- "One other internal sensory processing channel autistic children often have problems with is temperature regulation. Unable to set their internal thermometer at a comfort zone, some feel hot all the time even in cold weather or cold all the time even when it is warm. As their nervous system is on high alert and blood leaves the extremities to deliver oxygen to internal organs and muscles, many suffer poor circulation and their hands and feet are always cold. Adjustments need to be made to avoid worsening these conditions".

I'm hoping he can convince his cousin to raise the heat. I can't live in a place like this and it's not because I'm being "picky", I literally can't handle this. I'm going to go to bed since I'm too cold and I feel a melt down coming on. I hope everyone is having a good sleep and has a great day tomorrow.

I think 60 is cold for anyone...I keep my place between 75 -78 all year...the heat is free but a/c is $$$$ so it's better for me to be acclimated warm. If they can't change the thermostat keep a space heater in the room you're in...that's surprisingly cheaper.

I think you should talk to her, because that is way too many hours.

Spending a lot of time talking to people who are very fearful or who are focusing their attention on scary things?

There are so many things we can choose to focus our attention on. Why not choose to focus on things that build you up instead of pull you down? Thich Nhat Hanh says we have all the seeds in our store conscious (subconscious). Fear, anger, hate. Peace, joy, calm. Which seeds grow and get strong depend on which we tend to and water. And also on which seeds the people around us water. If you think angry thoughts, the seed of anger gets stronger, for example.

Leaving aside the issue of whether the conspiracies are true or not, people who focus on scary conspiracies feed their seeds of fear and paranoia. I guess I don't understand why you would choose to immerse your psyche in that kind of negativity.

Another way of thinking of this is the story of the two wolves:

Quote:
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, “My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.

“One is Evil – It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

“The other is Good – It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
A Native American Cherokee Story – Two Wolves | UnbelievableYou

I would say that spending a lot of time with conspiracy theorists - especially since you're already paranoid - is watering the wrong seeds and feeding the wrong wolf.
