You didn't upset me, it was good to know. I've been having some issues on this medication and I really do need to talk to my pdoc about it. Honestly I don't even want to take it right now. But that's another story entirely. I feel out of control right now, my issue totally and not yours though okay?

There's a really good This American Life about a guy who gets hookworms deliberately in order to cure his severe allergies. He had to go to Africa to get them. Maybe that's why more people seem to have allergies these days - not enough hookworms.

Yeah I work in a GI department so I've actually seen docs promoting various worms for this very reason however there is a huge squick factor just like fecal transplants although those have really caught on...

But yeah some of the components of the immune system like igE basically have nothing to do without worms so they just attack whatever's available...

If I had bad allergies, I'd go for the hookworms if they were available - squick or no.

Great... I came across a racist rant my uncle Tim has put up on Facebook. It was about white people are becoming the minority and all white people should buy guns and ammo to protect themselves from the "animals". Apparently 10 years in prison and becoming of the "aryan brotherhood" prison gang has made him a racist bigot.

Yeah I hate it when people do stuff like that on Facebook...my dad used to forward me all this anti-immigrant stuff because they were job competition and I would reply with my opinion and for him not to send that garbage anymore but on Facebook it's rough because all of your friends see anything you comment on so it can ignite a firestorm and I'm not out for a public shaming of my dad or whoever because it would really hurt his feelings so I just tend to ignore it.

My uncle Tim posted it publicly on Facebook. I didn't say anything but someone else replied to it saying, "Your ignorance, Tim, is so damn frightening. You are what is wrong with America." I'm not too surprised though because when he was living with before I bought a black gold fish. I shown him my gold fish and his reply was, "I hate black things." Wow that's terrible...my dad is not that far gone but he refused to vote for Obama which is so stupid. Admittedly though he lives just outside Detroit which is a hugely racially polarized area...in his case I honestly believe it be simple ignorance because the races were at least when I live there pretty segregated so I doubt he even knows anyone who isn't white.

Well most of my family are from West Virgina if that means anything. There's a lot less minorities where most of them are from. Having relatives on my Facebook I get a lot racist anti-Obama propaganda updates. I typically just roll my eyes and ignore it. However what surprises me about my uncle Tim is that he use to be all into hiphop/rap music. I believe there were times where he date black woman to piss my grandfather off (not sure if it's my uncle Tim or my uncle Tom who did that). My grandmother also taught us tolerance but I guess prison changes your views on everything. Especially men's prison where typically inmates separate themselves by race.

He has the clover tattooed on his neck that represents the gang. I guess his mentality is that once a gang member always a gang member. Not too sure. I mean I love him and he considers me his favorite niece but Jesus... he has gone backwards.

Yeah I know at least in California there are programs that will laser off prison tattoos for free because they know people were essentially under duress getting them...
