I would like to adopt or foster a child one day. But do I have to be married? There aren't exactly women beating down their doors to be with a transgender man. I'm happy single. And even if a single guy could adopt or foster, will having bipolar disorder with psychosis hold me back? If I'm in "remission" for a long time, would I be able to adopt?

I don't know why this has such strong feelings associated with it since I grew up saying I'd never be a mom, but I DO want to be a dad.

Then again, the career I want to go into isn't really one that will make me financially stable.

Aim it below your neck. It draws the blood down out of your head. It actually works on occasion.

I will try that! Thanks so much

I'm sorry it turned out that way. But thank goodness you didn't get more attached to him.

Those are some really good questions. I don't know the answers but I do know there is a serious need for foster parents in every state. I lived in a foster home for two years when I was younger. It wasn't a healthy environment. My foster mother was not a nice lady. I ended up running away.

I'm in Canada if that makes a difference. I'll think about it. I have no idea if these paternal feelings are only because most people I went to school with have kids now. I never wanted kids before.

I don't know about Canada. I live in Dallas, Texas.

Maybe you could do some volunteer work helping with kids? This way you get the joy of helping children until you decide if fostering is really what you want to do.

I've worked several jobs working with and teaching kids everything from music theory to flute, piano, voice, theatre, and acting for film. I definitely like kids. I couldn't do anything now, with my mental health the way it is and being a student on disability. But it's motivation to try and figure out enough coping mechanisms to become the type of person who could foster a child.

Yeah, I just erased his name from my phone. Now I've gotta figure out what to say if he calls. I guess just ignore him.

I finally took a bath. I'm wore out, lol. Bathing hurts my back. So I'm gonna take some ibuprofen and wait for it to work and then get groceries...

Just tell him you decided that this isn't a good time for you to date. That way you don't hurt his feelings. I guess if you ignored his calls he'd get the message too. Then maybe he'd stop calling you.

I've been needing to go to the grocery store for days now! I keep putting it off because I just don't feel like the hassle.

Yeah, a wasted two weeks. I'm happy though that I found out this side to him sooner than later...

For sure! If he has a drinking issue you certainly don't want to get caught up in that.

Where did you meet him?

Through a friend. No I don't think he has a drinking problem. I think he didn't show me the real him until he was drunk. He'd never been like that before. Happy I found out though.

I'm going to go try sitting in a super hot shower like Punky suggested. Hopefully that'll help too. I'm so tired of laying around in pain with this heating pad on my head! I want to get up and be active! Ugh!
Thanks for this!
