Yeah aps do suck. I'm off the zyprexa, it was an add needed med and have cut down on the risperdal. I'm taking it every others day and on the days I take I'm hungrier. But other meds of mine cause increased appetite and I'm not gonna go off them...

I don't know it's hard where to pick ur battles on these meds.

6 beds. Yikes. Some of the UK hospitals I've seen on TV have large wards lined with beds that are only separated by curtains. It would be horrible staying in one of those. I don't know how people would be able to sleep in that environment.

Four beds is the max here in Ontario, Canada. I've been in rooms like that and hate them. There is barely any privacy. It is quite common to hear confidential conversations. These rooms are noisy at night, especially on a medical or surgical unit. Staff constantly enter the room and IV pump alarms seem to go off more at night.

Ward rooms are an infection control nightmare.

I've always preferred semi-private rooms, because they were big and it was nice to have a roommate. Since I don't have additional insurance I rarely get these rooms. We have universal healthcare here that only covers ward room rates, unless the hospital doesn't have any available.

Well they're not in charge of your body, you are. I know when I was around 127 people thought I was too thin to lose more weight. Now of course I'm obviously overweight though.

Oops, this was to newtus.

Always an option but even if you are getting what you think, if you don't have a prescription being managed by a doctor - you'll be much more likely to edge down the road of benzo addiction, which is not a route you want to go...

Have you tried some of the OTC sleeping pills?

That's exactly it....there has been so little research on ebola because its not a U.S. pathogen and that's how funding works....so shortsighted for something so severe. Plus it's hard to work on outside level 3/4 labs unless it's just the components. We should have built new labs just to deal with it but it's not like there is funding for that kind of thing.

Have you tried melatonin yet? It's mild but my pdoc recommended it as a first line for sleep...it's just a supplement that your body makes anyway. I never got around to trying it but my friend used it before.

Melatonin is prescription only in the UK & rather hard to get, so I'm imagining it's probably the same in Ireland. Guess chickenfoot will know the answer to that...

Oh and morning/afternoon guys

Interesting.....im surprised you can't just get it shipped from the U.S....I don't think we have any regulations on it at all.

Just one of those things... my understanding of the reasoning is it's because melatonin is a hormone. Might be natural but messing with hormones isn't really a great idea over the long term. You've got a science background... you'll probably understand stuff of that nature better than me!

IIRC it's only prescribed to those over 55 & only for short periods of time.

Yeah it does have impact on some of the other hormones etc but I think there would be less impact than birth control which people take all the time....still you need a prescription for that too.
