Unfortunately, medications can effect different people very differently. So even though it works very well for your uncle, it may or may not for you...

It's definitely worth trying that or others if you think the risperidal isn't helping the way you want though.

What dosage of risperidal are you on now?

Something I will say though, is it is quite unusual for medication to completely remove symptoms.

Myself, the medication never completely took away my voices.

So it might be a case of settling for one you tolerate well that helps a bit, if not fully. I think for most people it's the side effects that dictate what meds they end up on.

No harm in trying a few to see if they help more though.

I'm on 8mg of Risperdal, which is a pretty high dose.

I have only ever been symptom free on one med - Latuda - but my insurance doesn't cover it so I have to deal with other ones. Risperdal isnt bad in terms of side effects, although I'm taking cogentin so that might mask it up.

Risperdal worked pretty good for me but I had to stop because my prolactin levels were too high.

Risperidal was somewhat effective for me at 2mg... although I didn't want to go any higher because it already made me sleep 12 hours a day & be a bit unmotivated even at that low dose.

I'm always shocked at people being on high dose APs... I seem to be quite sensitive to them.

It sucks your insurance doesn't cover Latuda though.

What's everyone up to today?

I'm just watching some anime. Been meaning to branch out since all I've seen is basically Studio Ghibli films.

Watching one called Steins;Gate... about time travel. Bit quirky but quite addictive...

I've always needed super high doses to be effective, for whatever reason.

My first psychotic episode it took a super high dose of Haldol to bring me back to reality.

Maybe my liver metabolizes stuff weird.

I'm sitting at home, trying to play some video games to distract myself.

Can feel delusions trying to sneak in, spent a good few hours yesterday believing there was a micro-chip in my foot, nearly grabbed a knife to dig it out before I snapped out of it.

Had to schedule an emergency appointment with my Pdoc tomorrow, Risperdal ain't working for me.

Studio Ghibli is awesome btw, love their movies.

I'm always scared doctors will be mad at me for saying the medication isn't working. My doc was very sure that Risperdal would be the one for me

I used to see naps as a bad thing when I was on meds, a good day was one without a nap!

What is animal cops about, is it like an animal rescue type thing or something?

Yes. It's SPCA rescues. It's disturbing but usually ends on a happy note.

@Loial, thanks! I will miss the people from group but other than that I'm beyond excited to get out of here.

I HATE it here. that's not even close to how I feel, it's an understatement.
