Wow, spent all day trying to figure out why my internet wasn't working, something just wasn't plugged in all the way

That happened to me the other week. I realized the router was unplugged.

Can you do that in your current program? Why not start with a PhD program....usually they’ll give you a masters if you don’t finish the program.

No, it doesn't work that way with my current program. It's just a master's program for now. And then I'd have to apply to a PhD program once I finish the master's. The university at which I study doesn't have a PhD program in translation studies anyway...

I’m not sure how it works in translation but in science you do two years of classes for a masters or a PhD then you do at least three years of original research if you want the PhD, if you apply from another program you’ve gotta repeat the coursework first making it disadvantageous to get a masters first. Usually though people who already had a masters were faster getting through the research aspect.

Yeah, we'll see haha. I wonder if I can just write a dissertation somewhere and they'll tell me if I can get a PhD. I've also looked at certain programs that are PhD programs and they require a master's to get admitted. It would not necessarily have to be a translation studies PhD, either. Like I was thinking of getting a creative writing PhD, perhaps. But I need money first.

Yeah in science they pay you to get the PhD and waive tuition, but you’ve gotta pay for a masters if you go that route so there’s a clear advantage if you can get accepted for PhD over masters. Like I said, I’m less knowledgeable in how it works for your field but a masters will get you in most doors. A PhD will actually close most doors aside from being a professor which is nearly impossible due to extreme competition for limited positions.

Didn’t your doctor think it was a kidney infection though?

This is why I recommended urgent care...an actual doctor who can touch you or take a culture should be able to tell. Unfortunately it sounds like the ER doctor’s totally dismissed you.

The amount of cranberry you need to stop a uti is huge, not all of those natural things are practical.....
