I use to do all that, back 15+ years ago. I didn't get enough out of it that I was expecting or wanted so it lapsed in favor of other things (mostly Synchronicity and dream work which were more rewarding for me at the time).

its all relative really, my sis had read a book years back that she recommended to me and i still havent read it .. about the Plaeidians and synchronicity... and ive read a little on the work of Jungs' theory (fantastic man!) and even the lyrics of the Police song reveal some truths in that regard... all interesting stuff and i hope we'll be able to explore that more (when the time comes haha)

the White Light Meditation works on several different levels... it has detoxifying benefits... it is the highest of the color frequency's if im not mistaken, clearing ones' personal aura for preparation of the other colors which each operate at their own light frequency band and allowing for purity of thought, meaning, and purpose..

the great thing about it is that it can be used with any spirituality... the white light replaces the dark and confused frequencies in our upper conciousness and leaves a clear, pristine mind space which can then be filled with other thought...

it provides a perfect background for the next image or idea coming into ones awareness.... after performing the white light meditation, imagine a hot dog... its flavors and smells, colors and ingredients are more vivid...

it works the same with any thought inserted after the mediation... the contrast/comparison is remarkable and the 'white light feeling' lingers to attach itself to the next thought and allowing conscious awareness to be made more alert to any impurities associated with subsequent thinking...

white light meditation is centuries old as i know you know .
i start by focasing one the light wrapping around my body from left to right..in the light
it pushes away neg feelings...and enviroment. The light produces energey protecting
also use with it at a phisical level involves healthy diet, exericse, sunshine, The sun is essentail
you become one with your mind body and soul thus reaching out to the universe
they use a similar way as a treatment for ppl with cancer..I have to say it helps me to smile ..to have hope ..to feel stronger to handle the day and what may come my way....
the light is always there ...it with us every moment if we let it in...
meditation..cleans out all those thoughts feelings for me that seem to add to my stress.

very well said (((muffy)))))

i like to imagine the white light coming into me, first i see it outside and then i 'open' and let the light come in, filling me, filling every dark corner until i am as the white light ... it gives a glowing, radiating warmth, like the sun itself.... it is a state of mind of goodness and togetherness, joy and stress free thinking...

you said it is centuries old... i can imagine we have always practiced white light meditation in some way, since the beginning of time, when we were cold and alone, in the dark, the light would comfort us, give us hope, memories of something good to calm and relax our fears...

Dr. Clay recommends meditation as a form of relaxation and centering

sending my prayers for your good health (((Dr. Clay))))))

((nowheretorun))) ((ty)) the picture you have put up expresses the colors in the light very well. Its a light of beauty. Let into our body and our minds and our wouls. releases so much neg stress. bringing into our minds and bodys the postive . I agree with you i think its old as time.
I would imagine before modern medicine this was used lots with good results.
It relaxes muscles. bring hope and clarity ..most of all kindness and peace with in as i know you know.....
your colors of the light are wonderful in this picture going from light green to a gold to pure white in the center ...which brings me to my center a calmness......

i am so glad it works for you too ... whatever is going on, whoever is around me, its an easy, free way to relax and center, feel goodness within, and outside of myself, a way to reconnect with my feelings of hope, kindness, gratitude... a way to overcome darkness, bad feelings about something, a way to get through another hard time...

i combine it with another meditation, a mantra.. here is a link

i love the simplicity, purity of good energy

when iput it all together, i like to practice Tonglen as well, it can be done in 'minute meditations', as i go about other business, running in the background of my thoughts but present and effective all the same

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonglen

Dr. Clay discusses the medical and emotive benefits in several chapters of his book

as a final 'treatment', i often draw Mandala's, a way to relax, express my inner emotions, on paper.. trying always to add just a tad more positivity to the 'whole picture' as was practiced in ancient society and still in practice today, in our architecture and designed patterns we all see everyday around us... i wonder how many know that the pattern on your quilt, the tile on your floor, the print on your toilet paper is a Mandala... surrounded by them continuously and we are unaware until we are aware

((nowheretorun))) it does work very well for me...at times thou i have to really focus and remember to do it practice it. like when i had surgery. At that time once in the room i focused on the lights with in the room....found a item that was a circle.
The Dr was well aware of what i was doing , which was great.
you said " as a final 'treatment', i often draw Mandala's, a way to relax, express my inner emotions, on paper.. trying always to add just a tad more positivity to the 'whole picture' as was practiced in ancient society and still in practice today, in our architecture and designed patterns we all see everyday around us... i wonder how many know that the pattern on your quilt, the tile on your floor, the print on your toilet paper is a Mandala... surrounded by them continuously and we are unaware until we are aware"
In the center of my home oddly enough its in a circle. one room to the next in a circle. It is the center of the house where everyone gathers and you can tell feel more at ease.
your right some of the tiles have circles in them...
its the most peaceful place in the house. and with the most light
even the animals i think are aware of this as they spend thier time there. Including circle dog

i am glad it works for you ((muffy))))

many times we only need to open ourselves to something larger than ourselves, more powerful than ourselves...

the pic below is a mandala of lights..

Mandala of lights

From the stellar ocean, among waves of
memories a Mandala of fire appears:
unconscious esoteric signs, messages,
that sow illumination
on the ploughed fields
of the mental Universe

it is a representative photo of what is outside, but also inside... a part of the healing nature of universal symbolism...

you can imagine the energy as being outside yourself, but it is also within yourself... we are made up of space particles, carbon.. the energy there, is the energy here, within you... a mandala is a representation of inner strength and beauty brought into the physical world by the power of mind and focus

with meditation and breathing exercise we imagine the energy being a part of us.. the same energy which powers the sun, also powers us... the universe is a beautiful and wonderful place, unexplored, undiscovered.. beautiful and in some areas dangerous... with our meditation we can draw on the beauty of all and take that power into ourselves, to share and enjoy... it sure beats some other feelings we have had doesnt it?
