And I feel very in the minority. I don't like the sensation of my skin seperating when cut *shudder*

I bite and use blunt trauma...punching inanimate objects, head and wrist banging.

Just wanted to see if I was the only one? It seems cutting is the most common SI...

It may not matter...it's all SI ??

cutting and burning are most noticable too, might be why. bruises you can get from bumping into a table, even though i do punch things when you need that right then immediate relief. i bite myself when there's nothing to punch or i dont want to act out in front of someone. and instead of that i'll dig my nails into my skin too.

i dont know. maybe its not as big a deal? depends on the extent, but yeah. not much talked about.

All those little things most people might not even consider - fingernails, biting, just plain not being careful - I wonder if most self-injurers do them but don't usually mention it. I do too, and always have as long as I can remember. That stuff can seem like it's no big deal, but I think it would be a lot harder to quit than cutting. It's more pervasive, and ongoing. It's like a representation of generally feeling self-destructive, and it's so easy to do the little stuff - the only way to stop would be to actually change the attitude and want to treat yourself nicely, and that's scary to me anyway.

Well, as hard as I bite (which is my most common) it leaves more than bruises. It leaves blisters (from the pressure), and marks that last for weeks. The last time I bit, 3 weeks ago yesterday, the marks from that are just starting to fade. They actually look like burns.

I've been trying not to bite, very hard lately to not bite. Personal/family things going on lately. But, I didn't bite...which I am kind of proud of. It seems cutting is the most common SI...

I think a lot of it has to do with most people don't think about the other more common things. Im on 52 days now and one of the really hard things now is trying to resist all of the little things. Things that I would normally do to cause pain but what most of us consider the more creative things. It is hard keeping it in the back of the mind that they are self injurous and I can't do them and say I quit.

Thank you {{{{{{Jax}}}}}}

Just to be honest, I guess...I didn't bite yesterday--I burned. I feel like I need to admit to that/say that. Not sure why, maybe because I was previously adamant about mostly biting? *shrugs*

i bite also, rather than cut, i do both, cut and bite but i prefer to bite, it seems to personalise the pain that i want to feel.

i didnt know those were forms of SI.

i used to punch my punching bag my parents got me until my knuckles bled. i liked it, i thought it meant i was accomplishing something. now, when i get really frustrated, i bite my finger really hard and punch my leg. i just thought those were quick things, not neccesarily SI, but now it makes sense.

I have noticed recently if i haven't been able to cut like i usually do, i'll bite my fingers/nails, nip myself or whatever. I never really noticed it before.
