Last night I was laying on the couch and I cut again. I ended up going to the ER where they steristripped it together and gave me an antibiotic because one of my other cuts is infected. How do I explain to my dad I need yet another medication. It seems about once a week I have to go pick something up at the pharmacy. Luckily I have medicaid which makes it really cheap but still I hate having to take pills and I wonder what would happen if I didn't pick up the meds. I guess I'm just in a funky state of mind right now and am not really sure of anything.

Please take your antibiotics. It's a lot easier now than if you let the infection go and it progresses and goes systemic, and then you have to be in the hospital with i.v. antibiotics.

About your other meds, if you feel that you are taking too many, you might want to have a talk with your doctor about it and see if there is a way to reduce some of it. It is possible that you may be overmedicated - lots of people are these days, sometimes just because they go to more than one doctor and the doctors aren't aware of everything prescribed by other doctors, or possibly the doctor doesn't remember all the things you are still taking, or just hasn't thought about all of it. Anyway, there might be a way to consolidate your regular meds and/or eliminate things that aren't helping you.

I have a really silly personal question. What do the hospital staff do or say when you go in with and si? Are they mean and rotten or are they helpful? Do they try to get psche to see you? Only my own doc and T know and it took years and lies before I told doc.

Its not a silly question ww. I didn't even tell them they just asked how it happened I told them a razor blade and that was that. I think this doc is more hip to psych problems as I always have good service when he is there. In the past I have gotten some advice from nurses etc but there is no psych unit for them to call a psych for me. I live in backwardsville arkansas.

I am glad you are treated with the kindness and respect you deserve. I hope you can find other ways of releasing the feelings. I know, easier said then done. I am sad when I see my scars and know that pain I was in emotionally. When I read your post about the cuts I was sad. it's a visual of emotional pain and suffering. I have somehow managed to go since May with out cutting and I think I have also not done any head banging as well in that long. Good luck. thanks for being so open and honest.

Thanks for you support. Yesterday I did something really hard I threw away my razors. They popped back out of the bag and I threw them back in. The only reason I threw them away was my mom was coming over and I didn't want her to find them and ask me a ton of questions so I decided just to throw them away. I am already thinking about going and getting more but am trying to resist.

Janniebug, good job thrownig them away. It has helped me to not have my (favorite) tools handy. makes the impulsiveness less a danger. Good luck Jannie. I am thinking about you.

Jannie:

As a fellow Arkansans, I have to say I know how you feel regarding no psyche. Luckily I'm in the northeast corner of the state where we have two psych facilities. The western side isn't as lucky, unfortunately.

GREAT JOB for throwing away the razors. It truly is the first step and these things take lots of time and lots of tiny baby steps.

Take care of yourself

****big hugs****
Kimberly

P.s. Take your antibiotics or my big feet will trampel across the state and kick some butt! LOL.
