This is an excercise ya'll can participate in, either here or at home on your own. It would be a good idea to get yourself a notebook to write down the excercises and make the entries it's going to ask you for. Or you can print out each excercise. Suit yourselves. The Self-Esteem Passport

Try to find a pic of a passpart and put it on that notebook. I tried here, but the graphic wouldn't show up. The Self-Esteem Passport

This is your Self-esteem Passport. It validates your allegiance to yourself. It will help protect you against feelings of inferiority and inadequacy.

Found inside the pages of this document, you will discover your strengths and have the power to transform the quality of your life. You will direct your mind to set your success pattern.

Your Self-esteem Passport is valid for life. It can be modified by entering, and then internalizing, your new self-esteem achievements.

However, you will be in violation of the rules governing your Self-esteem Passport if you persist with the following negative attitudes which undermine your newly gained self-esteem: An unwillingness to let go of living in the past, habitual self-condemnation and feelings of worthlessness, and professing allegiance to self-pity, pessimism, resentment and dishonesty.

Be Proud of Your Looks

Get a favaorite photograph of yourself and list the reasons why you selected it. Concentrate on physical self-acceptance. Determine, for yourself, whas is attractive about you. Admiring all of your features bolsters your self-esteem because it is the highest form of self-acceptance.

My hands and hair

(PS - I'll be posting a new excercise every day)

Your turn!

LOL Then don't worry about it! How can you violate something you haven't gotten yet? Just keep them in mind for when you make your passport, ok?

AWWWWW! I'm sorry! I wondered the same thing, too, when I did it. Forget the pic. I don't like pics of me taken, either. You can add it later on as your self-esteem grows.

When I first did this, the only thing I could come up with were my hands. I just added my hair this morning. The Self-Esteem Passport

PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES - Visa Section

A realistic self-image will bolster your self-esteem. Accepting your body, whether overweight, underweight, or out of shape, reinforces your self-worth because acceptance stops self-hate and self-condemnation. Once you've acquired acceptance, you can then gently change any part of yourself, without self-putdown, and further strengthen your self-worth.

In this section, list the many physical parts of yourself which you proudly accept. Include your dimensions, physique, sexy points, strengths, stamina and contours. If you're modest, ask a frined to help you complete this section.

What I like about me:
A friendly smile

What I accept:
I'm overweight but I purposely did it to myself for emotional protection so I accept it. For health reasons, I'm working on changing that.

I accept that I don't have anything that stands out that I could call "pretty" on my face.

SELF-CONFIDENCE

In this section, fill in your personal accomplishments.

1. love affair with words - good writer

4. musical talent
5. handwork talents; sew, crochet, embroider, etc

ACCEPTANCE OF FAULTS

Visa Section

It's human to have faults but inhumane to condemn yourself for having them. Some faults you can change. Others will remain. Accept your faults and bolster your self-esteem. In this section, list your faults and how they may be offset by your virtues.

(Example: I may be stubborn, but I am presistent and dependable.)

1. Hey! That's me! LOL
2. I'm analytical - but I avoid unnecessary problems and often get to the point quicker than others.
3. I love too easily and quickly - but even though I can get hurt easily, I've had a moment in time when life was beautiful and shared deeply in someone else's life
4. I'm fat - but my grandkids love cuddling with me. They call me "comfy" and "fluffy"

Ohh I'm glad I found this...like i said I need a lot of help in this area.

I have to start from the begining though..sry.

The picture thing is hard for me though not only because of not liking much, but because I am not sure what I'm looking at (if that makes any sense), but I guess I'll go with my eyes...they are bright blue...i'm totally sure about that at least...lol.

Now...I like my toes when I get a pedicure. My fingers are cute too when they are manicured...they are little.
I'm a very good baker.
I'm creative.

Now the last part.

I can be overly sensitive, but I am sensitive to others. (i hope thats right)
Um..thats all i have for now

OK I'll give it a try.
1. I like my long brown hair
And I can decorate cakes that look really pretty.

OK I'm better at the negative things about myselves.
I put myself down for making any kind of mistake.
I'm out of shape, I've gained a lot of weight and I don't care about it.
Ok so there is my start. Did I do this right? No don't tell me cause if I think I made a mistake I won't try it again.

SENSE OF HUMOR

Visa Section

Humor is a vital part of life. It offsets solemn or troubled times. It keeps us from taking ourselves too seriously. If we can laugh at our past disappointments and use the laughter to help provide new insights, we have given ourselves self-compassion, the cornerstone of all self-esteem. In this section, list some of the past hardships you've endured, but can now put into perspective with a touch of laughter.

(Example: (LOL) I'm better off without my repossessed car. Now the finance company is stuck with a lemon that leaks in the rain, conks out in direct sunlight and occasionally chases dogs.) hehehe

One of my biggest regrets is having sold my dream home in the city and moving out to the country where we lived like true settlers. We lived in a tent for four months, had to get permits for everything we needed to put in, like water, electricty, phone; in short all the "necessities" of life. Those eight years were rough, to say the very least, but the experience and love that went with it was priceless.

We had goats, rabbits, chickens, geeze, 18 cats The Self-Esteem Passport and a huge vegetable garden. I'll always hold dear the love and devotion my "ladies" (goats) gave to me. Why it was necessary for me to learn to dress out rabbits, I'll never figure it out, but I can say I can do it. Why I had to learn to put my arm up a goats reproductive parts and help birth baby goats, is beyond me, but I'll always remember the "grin" that my favorite goat gave me when she dumped the only baby doe she had right in my lap... right along with all the amniotic fluid. I'll never forget how she chased my ex back down the hill. LMAO I'll never forget when my youngest, at eight years old, learned the "facts of life" from the rabbits as he took a picture of the buck mounting a female. And the look on his face!! The Self-Esteem Passport Talk about priceless!

The precious as well as painfull memories can go on and on, but most of the time, I can remember and laugh.

YOUR turn!

The Self-Esteem Passport You've read enough of my posts to know that I have a wicked sense of humor. What do you think has gotten me this far? We need to learn to laugh at ourselves, besides just the fact that "humor is the best medicine." If we don't laugh at ourselves occasionally... or more often, we'll sink in the mire of our despair, depression, etc.

I AM here to tell you! You need a sense of humor! You have one! The Self-Esteem Passport

Okay here goes, this was very embarassing to me when I was younger, but I was able to get over it and laugh it off.
When I was a teenager we were very poor and since my grandma recieved only SS from my grandpa, we had little money for clothes, I had to wear my grandma's bras, had to take in a few tucks here and there , but I lived through it, and at the same time I felt proud cuz I was a big girl now. I look back on that now and LMAO

I remember the pride of wearing my first bra, though. The Self-Esteem Passport

PERSONAL COURAGE

Visa Section

Everyone has moments of personal courage in life but those important events are often forgotten in the passage of time, or because modesty and memories of previous setbacks get in the way. Remembering your personal courage milestones, whether they were helping a poor swimmer to safety or giving your first speech in front of a large audience, fortifies your self-esteem. Recalling those times of bravery will remind you that you are self-reliant and capable of heroic action. You know you can tackle tough situations because you've done it before.

In this section, list incidents of personal courage you have experinced from childhood to the present.

My most courageous act was to face my own dysfunction and deal with it. It took years, but I'm so proud and grateful to have come this far!
