This is more of a rant... And an education. Lol. If any of you are addicted to opiates then PLEASE just go through that withdrawal instead of a doc putting you on suboxone. Docs usually prescribe 2-3 sub strips a day (that's 8-16mgs). Ok, I was taking 2mg every other day. A tiny amount! But if I went four days without, I'd get withdrawal which, with subs, is like the worlds worse flu. You're crapping and puking, endless showers (I'd take up to three a day) just to wash away that cold sweat. And by the way, sub WD can last for over a month!
Now here I am... Four years later... Full blown addiction and no I was NEVER prescribed this drug. I admit I started using it recreationally. I would get a nice buzz but now? I don't feel ****! But I HAVE to take it to get away from that withdrawal. Meeting friends in shady places, you name it. This is the worst hell I've ever been through. I kicked alcohol once with the help of a local hospital for a steady stream of benzos through an IV. Well I'm sick of being a slave to this quite boring drug. Wtf?! I have tears in my eyes right now and I want to scream!!! So what do I do?! Suboxone is a fairly new drug and from what i DO know, there's nothing they can give for WD. So wtf do I do?! Should I go cold turkey? Just cry and sweat and **** it out?! I do have a script for seroquel and Xanax so if anything, I want a wait till I'm stocked up on those. But the WD is so bad I wake up every 15 min to wipe the sweat off me and get in a comfortable position. It's pure hell my friends! So what SHOULD I do?! And before anyone mentions the herb "kratom", yes I've done my research and It does seem to help a lot. However I want the capsules and from the amount it takes, I don't really have that money to blow. Like, I'd need two bottles every week! But it's still a maybe. And also, my step kids are usually here Sunday through Tuesday. I don't want to be a puking, shitting mess in front of them. Honestly, I'm a baby. I don't know if I have it in me to do It cold turkey. But what should I do?! And for those of you that quit with the help of subs, good for you since subs are made to be OD proof. Good for you. But I'm telling you now, unless you plan on having your script for the entire remainder of your whole life, you're in for a world of **** in the long run! This isn't a post stating that I AM quitting...but I have an insanely desire to. I'm just scared as hell. I've been through the sickness before and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone! I'm just looking for your ideas of what I should do and if you don't know, then I'll take the support! Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It sounds like you really want off it, but that you're just going to have to deal with the withdrawals. If you check into a detox, they may be able to give you some meds, to alleviate some of the symptoms, but unfortunately the only way to get through it, is to get through it.
Once you're off I'd talk to your Dr. about getting a script for Naltrexone (Revia). It's an opiate antagonist, and if you take it, it will block the effect of any opiate so that you don't get high. If you take an opiate - you just immediately go into withdrawal, so there's no point in taking the opiate. I used it for a couple of years to help beat an opiate addiction. splitimage |

Thank you. I've been on naltrexone once in injection form for drinking and again in pill form. It did help me. I had to detox fro drinking in a hospital because I was so bad. I slept through that with a steady IV of ativan. Maybe they can do something like that for me, not sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I know nobody is reading this but it feels like I'll stick to it better if I put it in writing...
I bought 5 subs today. I'm keeping one and giving rest to my bf to hide (trust me he's a good hider lol). First im starting out with a quarter every other day. Then the next sub, a quarter every two days. Next sub, an 8th every two days. Next sub, an 8th every three days. The final sub, go as many days I can without and when I get full on sick, sweats, shakes, the shits ![]() Wish me luck guys!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I am all about natural supplements since I stopped using and kratom is excellent for pain relief. Because it stimulates the mu-opiod receptors in your brain, it will definitely help withdrawal. Good luck in your quest to stop using suboxone. It was hell for me to come off of also. The docs never tell you how hard it is to stop once you are on it. I was on 24 mg. A day for 2 years, so when I quit cold turkey I thought I would never feel better again, but I did. It just takes time. |

You quit cold turkey off 24mg?! Holy ****. How did you go through it and how long where you actually in bed? I'm on a dose day and staring at my bf to wake up to cut me a piece! I'm tweeking my plan as I go along. Today is 4mg, skip nother day, then 2mg. They don't recommend cutting down in 50% dosages so fast but I don't have a script so this is my only choice. I have four subs left total (not buying anymore!) and my bf has them locked away because I will tear up the house lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Let's just say it was NOT easy to do it cold turkey. Not to mention the fact that I also came off of my Klonopin and Paxil at the same time. I knew that personally, I did NOT have the ability to ween myself off of it because I would abuse it. It probably wasn't a smart decision from a medical standpoint, but I did it. It took me about 4-6 weeks to start to feel half assed normal again. Luckily, my mother helped me with my daughter in the first month. I stayed in the bed most of the day for a few weeks. My baby was 6 months old then, so she still slept a lot & wasn't incredibly hard to deal with, lol. I had PAWS for 4 months after that. I am glad that I did it now. I think that going through the hell of withdrawals like that made me not want to relapse.
I did not use Kratom during that time period, for I did not even know it existed. I came across Kratom in my search for natural pain relief for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I ordered some in January and I was surprised at how effective it was for something that is legal. It has a similar effect of taking a Vicodin or something. It's not much, but it would probably be a Godsend for someone going through opiate withdrawal. I have used it on and off for the past 6 months with no obvious dependence. Everyone's recovery is different. It took me ten years of trial and error. I probably spent 5 years of that rationalizing and downplaying the severity of my addiction. You are definitely on the right track if you are realizing that you have a problem and taking the steps to get better. ![]() |

RxQueen, keep posting...I am reading and thinking of you, Hun. xo
@Refuse2Sink...you are a strong lady, kudos to you! I'm on Percocet for chronic pain and I am being very strict about taking them only as directed. My doctor has already warned me about the fact that I WILL become dependent on them, but I am doing my best not to get addicted. Darn opiate train is hell, I have heard. Hang in there, RxQueen! xo |

Omg 4-6 weeks?! That is insane!!! I've been skipping days while tapering too and I think it's helping. I actually PMed you a few days ago but you just answered all my questions! If you could pm me your website or source for Kratom and how you take it then I'd be greatly appreciative! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thank you for the support! So I didn't take a dose yesterday and it's 1:15pm. I'm feeling crappy. Cold then hot. Sweaty palms. My bf is sleeping because he works third shift so I have to wait till he gets up to give me my dose. I was going to take 1/4 but I'm going to do a little better and take a little less. Then another skip day. Hopefully I level out soon and stop getting symptoms so quickly. Oh no... Now my stomach is bubbling. Please bf wake up!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yes! I definitely will PM you the kratom website that I use. They have amazing customer service. If you buy in bulk, 100 or more grams, the price drops significantly and they send you free samples with your order. I PMed you back the other day. Let me check and make sure that it went through correctly. It was quite lengthy, I hope I don't bore you with my message. ![]() ![]() I appreciate you saying that I am strong. I think what it came down to was that I was exhausted from trying every other way known to man to stop using. I knew that I just had to face it and do the damn thing. If I didn't, it was going to be a never ending cycle. My daughters Dad had gotten arrested the month before and I realized that I was all she had, so I HAD to get my **** together. And yes, it was a long, hard few months in the beginning. I probably cried every day for several months. I mourned the loss of my pills harder than I mourned the loss of my past relationships. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't like to be the bearer of bad news here but in my research on Kratom, I found the following information at this site: Drug Abuse | Kratom Effects
Here are some of the basic issues with Kratom: Quote:

Oh, I know your pain! I had cold sweats constantly coming off of subs. People think that they aren't as hard to come off of as pain pills. They are! It's just not as intense as coming off heroin or oxy. Because they have such a strong half life, the symptom aren't as "in your face" as PP's but they last twice as long! You can effectively stop feeling terrible off of oxy or heroin after a week. Subs take a month or so! The diarrhea, vomiting, lack of appetite, body aches, and cold sweats are almost as bad as a true opioid. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My daughter went into rehab several times for opiates and went on suboxone. That is a nasty drug. Eventually, she went cold turkey and went through withdrawal. That part of her life is now in the past.
I was with her the entire time. I hope that no one reading this will go through withdrawal without someone having a watchful eye. The purpose of my post is that I see many people who have struggled with addition use Google and self medicate. Wasn't that part of the original problem taking medication other than prescribed? I understand that healthcare is expensive but I think that part of the healing is learning to take medication and supplements only as directed. Just my two cents. |

Thanks for all the support everyone! I'm down to about 1.5 mg a day but when I skip a day I can feel it. Restless leg, anxiety, rigid muscles. Right now I'm trying to skip at least two days and really reduce my dose. It's not recommend to cut down so fast but I have little choice as I'm running out. I plan on making a dr appointment (who also happens to be a sub writer). I'm hoping I can get something for the cold sweats and restless leg. I have to say, the cold sweats is the hardest part of this. Multiple showers a day while freezing then after 20 min out of the shower, I'm sweating so bad I need another! This sucks! But I have to do this! I'll keep you guys posted when I'm feeling up to it. ((Hugs)) the support here is really helping!
And im sorry to those who replied with their own experiences. Sorry you had to go through what I am. I wouldn't wish this on anyone but stay strong! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Very true, many people do not realize that addiction is a form of self medication. I had to do it cold turkey also. There is something about going through that hell that makes a person strong...strong enough to to get clean and stay clean. Congratulations to your daughter for overcoming addiction. It's hard but it can be done with A LOT of hard work. ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just a note about the kratom: I should have been a little more clear about it on here;
I don't think that Kratom should be in any way a permanent replacement for opiates. The point of getting clean is to substance free. With that being said; based on RxQueens messages to me and posts on here about the hellacious withdraws she has been experiencing and the problem of being in control of her subs, I thought that kratom may help her through the withdrawal process. In a PM, I explained that she could use it in the beginning to stave off withdrawal and taper off it quickly. This is only from my personal experience when I say that I had no problem taking or coming off of the kratom. It's only my opinion, it may not be a good idea for some. I should have explained that better. A doctor would never suggest someone using kratom, for one things it's not used in the US for withdrawal. Many addicts in other countries have used it to come off of opiates, I did a lot of research on it before I used it. There are many reports of bad experiences and many reports of great experiences. Like any other substance, we don't always know how another person will respond. Please, everyone be safe with whatever you use to withdrawal, wether it be methadone, suboxone, or kratom. Just an update. I'm not doing good mentally. Not only from the lack of sub in me but I also had to change my med cocktail due to bad side effects. Also, to cope with lack of subs I've been drinking daily again. I'm out of control. So I'm dealing with all this at once. Today all I've done is sleep and cry. I have a pdoc appt tomorrow and I'll probably end up breaking down. I'm hoping for a med increase. I told my bf if he brings home another beer then I'm done. If there's a God up there please friggin help me!
