I take Klonopin. It's the only med that calms me enough to walk out my door.

I take Lorazapam, sometimes it seems to take a while to help though

To those of you on Klonopin, did your psychs give you a hard time about taking it or were they resistant because of the addictive properties? I feel like it's the only thing that helps me, but I have only ever been given one rx (a couple months ago) and I was only supposed to take them while waiting for a new med I now take to come in the mail. I've had some bad attacks lately and thank God I still had them. They kept me from going to ER. But, my psych was pretty serious about saying he was only going to give me one rx because of its addictive properties...I don't have an addictive personally, so I could understand restricting/being hesitant with someone that does, but I don't.

I don't want to be thought as a "drug seeker," but God... Would I rather be dependent or feel like crap?

I take lamotrigine (Lamictal), bupropion (Wellbutrin), and Geodon. Not particularly stoked with things presently, but they allow me to get out of bed. I am going to my psych this week to ask about a possible new/corrected diagnosis, though, so this might change very soon.

I take Xanax (alprazolam).

That was actually the first drug my pdoc started me on, but I didn't get the effects I was looking for, so we tried a few other drugs before deciding xanax worked best for me. We talked about the addictive properties of benzos, but my pdoc felt that I was at a very low risk for developing addiction, and that as long as we both monitor my use and talk about it, we're good.

Considering the great results I've had with a very low dose of a benzo, I'm thrilled that my pdoc isn't one of those that refuses to prescribe the drugs. I know some people have had horrible experiences on them, but I've been on Xanax since November of last year, and have seen no negative effects (no addiction, no building of tolerance, etc).

Lorazepam but I only use it for emergencies, which would be that anxiety is keeping me from going to work or I'm experiencing chest pain and can't calm myself down no matter what I do.

I also take Seroquel to keep moods stable between anxiety & depression.
Thanks for this!

I'm currently trying out prozac. I am almost a month in at 20mg and I haven't felt anything kick in yet, but I fear this might be because of once weekly drinking (heard it washes the prozac out of your system.) I have been on Lamotrigine for over a year.

I take Xanax (alprazolam) and it works great for me. Calms me down quickly but doesn't knock me out. I can actually work and think after taking a Xanax (.5mg).
Right now I am testing a "natural" treatment called lavela. It is lavender extract in a pill. It's supposed to help with low level anxiety not the panic attacks. I'm not sure if it is helping yet. I need to give it more time.
Seroquel makes me loopy. I don't like it.

xanax as well l like the way it is fast acting. CAN BE SLIGHTLY HABIT FORMING IF you have dealt with addiction problems before though.

I currently started Xanax. Pdoc says it's temporary, and will discuss things going on in my life, at my next appointment. For right now, all things considered in my life, it's nice to not have that knot in my stomach over things.

I just started on lithium today. I've tried it before but in a higher dose, which didn't work out for me; I got "every" side effect in the book. Hopefully this lighter dose does something without making me shake like an alarm clock or feel like I've drank 10 gallons of water. I won't even be taking enough to warrant check-up blood tests.

I'm also taking it for a nos mood disorder too, so I'm not sure if it's really common if just treating generalized/social anxieties etc., but it helps with both.

I take 80mg/prozac (fluoxetine) for OCD (anxiety disorder).
I'm thinking of asking my doctor for the klonopin (clonazepam) back but for PRN (perscribed as needed) because I built up a tolerance to it pretty quickly.

I still have a few left and take them for as needed but 2 days ago i took one and i was still feeling anxious without tolerance which was weird.

I take Cipralex 5 mg for OCD and GAD. Abilify, my other medication seems to help too, even though it wasn't prescribed for that reason.

I take 8 mg of xanax a day. My doc says the addictive properties aren't important since it's the only thing that helps me. Alot of people are addicted by prescription. People with chronic pain aren't normally denied meds because of the risk of addiction, nor should those who suffer from panic be. Of course, I'm filing for disability & pretty much can't function in normal society, so I could be wrong. I also take paxil & nortriptelyne for sleep. Good luck to you.

I've been burning through the last of my anxiety medication since I was last prescribed some 10 months ago. Went through all of my Xanax, and now I'm running very low on my Klonopin reserve. Kind of sucks since I've been finding that taking either of those anxioxilytics with Prozac seems to work pretty well for me.

You aren't getting a regular prescription refill? Wouldn't your dr make sure, you have enough, during your routine check ups?

I am just unfamiliar with what you mean. I see my pdoc, every 6 weeks to make sure I am doing OK, while on the meds he prescribes.

.25mg Alprazolam and 10mg Zolpidem

Valium for when I feel an anxiety or panic attack coming on, so its as needed for quick relief, I tried klonopin in the past and that didn't go well and so far valium seems superior anyways. I'm also taking Olanzapine(zyprexa), that one is for the depression to though. I guess its supposed to just kind of stabalize my mood and so far I like it since it makes me feel more calm over all and seems to have given me back my appetite.

Even though those help I am worried about not being able to find proper therapy, I'm still easily overwhelmed with stress. I try to take things slow but life has a way of throwing various things at me that I am in no way prepared for. So yeah the meds aren't a cure and don't make all my problems go away life is still hard and I still can't function well enough for a job, but they at least alleviate some of the unpleasantness.

Seems like most folks are taking what I call chill pills, 'cuz they work pretty quickly, and not SSRI's. I've been taking Lexapro for many years, but the past few years I've needed Alprazolam to help me out. Are SSRI's becoming passe'?
Thanks for this!
