Okay, so... All the times I attempt this, it does not go well. I need to lose weight. I am about 45 pounds over weight. I am not comfortable with my body and I would like to be healthier. Anytime I try, I abandon it after a few days.
Not this time. I am going to stick with it and I WILL reach my goal weight as soon as is healthy. And as my incentive, I will tell myself I can finally get my belly button pierced like I always wanted. But it is really hard for me to make a decision like this. I don't know how to stay with it, especially when I get really depressed sometimes... But I'm going to try!

That sounds like a fantastic goal! I wish you luck on your journey, the thing you can do is just do the best you can do and that's it someways you may have to force yourself into it but it'll make you feel Better I bet.

You can do it. Drink lots of water and/or green tea. This fills you up so you dont eat food to fill the void. Eat healthier foods. Eat smaller portions more frequently instead of a few big meals.
I've lost 30 lbs since October. You can do it!

Good luck, i am struggling with my weight too, and its motivating to see someone so motivated to do something about it! Are you going to use a specific diet?

No specific diet. My mom is just helping me to eat healthier. I eat a lot of junk food and spend all my money on like, sub sandwiches and burgers from the nearby bar. So, I'm going to stop all that and start eating healthy instead.

i started dieting in July... and in November i was at my ideal weight... most difficult part was when your friend is ordering something tasty, controlling yourself and ordering what is healthy for you... actually i achieved my weight loss by starving myself... i know its not healthy way.... i ate only my favorite dishes, but in small quantities.... and i was eating only twice a day.... nothing in between... didn't stop junk food.... filled my stomach with it so i wont eat much at lunchtime and wont gain weight....

Darth, I maintained my weight for years in a similar way. I wasn't starving myself, but I did eat mostly junk food, but in really small quantities. I know that it's not healthy, but it's so hard to choose a salad over pizza!
Good luck, Hydro. I need to lose some weight now myself, because I've gained 26 lbs on zyprexa. I've been trying something called the "5-2" diet; 5 days a week, you can eat however much you want, but 2 days a week you restrict yourself to 500 calories. I don't have a scale so I don't know how effective it is, but after a week and a half on it, the gap between my thighs did look a bit wider. ![]() For me, I think the 5-2 diet is relatively easy to follow, mostly because most of the time, you don't have to deprive yourself. So maybe you could try it? Just please, don't attempt it if you have a history of eating disorders; I read that this diet is dangerous for people who struggle with EDs because they start restricting too severely on too many days.

I'm in on the healthy lifestyle! Lets all set a date and then post our progress as we do this together! I would start wearing the patch to stop smoking and start running again, while eating less crap and more good stuff.
When should we all start? |

I would definitely be interested in joining. Maybe I need some accountability.
What about myfitnesspal.com? I joined already, we could add each other as friends and its like Facebook, you post statuses and updates and you log your food and can view each others food logs. |

I started a low carb diet four weeks ago and I have already lost 12 pounds. I weight myself a few days ago and I wouldn't be surprised if I lost another thus far. I have 30 pounds to lose.
I have had very minor busts in the diet, one night eating a slice of cheesecake driven by unbearable anxiety, another night with wine that had much more carbs than I thought. I have also gone at the peanuts perhaps more than I should and one night ate Salisbury Steak because I was at my BF's Parent's house and that is what his mother served. I have also drank a lot of alcohol in small quantities on a lot of the days that I have been on the diet. Alcohol pauses the fat burning process, so I imagine it's holding me back slightly, but I have been successful so far! ![]()

Wow, I didn't expect to spark so many others to want to do this too! I'm glad others are interested! I started today. I'm doing my yoga twice a week, if not more and might find more exercise to do. And I started eating healthier today. At my school, they had mashed potatoes and gravy, which is my ultimate weakness (I could live off it) but I ignored my craving and bought a salad instead. I also didn't use all the dressing either, and for dinner I ate a wheat english muffin with a fried egg and some cheese with apples and a small amount of peanut butter. Breakfast was just applesauce, since I was running late...
But hopefully this will work out for myself and everyone! I don't know how to set a goal, though, or how to be realistic about it... I just want to lose about 40 to 45 pounds or be close to that, by this summer.

Wow. It is.... Really hard to give up soda like I am. I knew I couldn't cut back partially, I had to do it all at once... And I miss it already. Dx I really want some.

Personally, I have never drank so much soda since being in a low carb diet. lol I think it's the artificial sweetening.

Odee,
Look into the safety of artificial sweetners .. They are horrible and actually worse than just having a regular soda.

I have read about this before but for the sake of weight I would much rather be drinking artificial sweeteners than sugar.

I used unsweetened iced tea and unsweetened flavored bubbly waters like calistoga to replace soda pops. That helped me a lot. Before you know it, your tastes could change and no longer desire the super sweet stuff.

I am trying to lose weight and get healthier also. I have started running/walking and I am up to 40 minutes most days of the week. It is really good for my depression. I wish I could bottle up those endorphins and take them as pills later on for when the runners high wears off lol. I struggle with a sugar addiction which is difficult to break. I am cutting down but still go after my sugar high when I need it. I live on the beach and hope to wear a bathing suit this summer. I hid in baggie shorts and a tank top last year. Good luck to everyone trying to get healthy!

Soda is still really bad for you, even the Diet soda. Diet is probably worse for you, due to all the chemicals in it. I have read they can really mess your body up. D: So I'm not saying everyone should stop it, I just decided I wanted to cleanse my body and make sure I would be healthier with no soda.
