It is 96 days till my best friends wedding and I haven't made any strides in my physical appearance. I need to lose 65 lbs to look decent. I hope. I need to do it. Last wedding I was so hurt about my appearance, loneliness, and situation. I need to get going. But I don't want to be in the same place I was the last wedding I attended. I also missed a wedding cause of how I look. I know looks aren't everything but I avoid pictures windows and mirrors cause I hate how I look. I still see myself muscular and fit. I don't want to cry about this. I need to hit the gym hard and some some diet food. Their is no way I'm returning to the amount of pain I had 2 years ago or even my sui attempt. I'm not returning to that. I'm gonna show them how great I can be.

I am very hard on myself when heavy too. I understand. I avoid pictures and mirrors and it's just really hard. (((Hugs)))

I don't want to avoid them this time but I want to look good. Needless to say I'm going late to my tux fitting just to be skinnier.

We have a diet thread on here that you can join in on. Helps to not have to do it alone.

You are not going to lose that amount of weight, so it is best not to eat diet foods because you can spur a weight gain with them. You can become more muscular, though, and that would help you look much better at the same weight. Overtraining after a sedentary period is a risk (I just hurt my foot from walking too much in Vibrams), so "hitting the gym" is dangerous, but doing things slowly and especially going for safer exercise, such as swimming, will make you more muscular and will improve your posture. Posture is very important to looking good. Set reasonable, attainable goals and pat yourself on the back all the way. Using the approaching wedding to stimulate yourself is fine as long as you realize that you are in for a long journey; using the wedding to punish yourself with unrealistic goals is not OK and you are doing the latter.

This ^^^ is is doable.

Muscle weighs more than fat so even if you don't lose all you want pound wise you will be replacing for big increase in muscle tone.

I have struggled with anorexia for decades. My biggest trigger is the numbers on a scale so I flat refuse to look or no, I go by how I feel in my body.

You can meet your goal of being much happier with your appearance.

Be kind to yourself ❤️

Going to disagree with you. 5 lbs per week maybe a lot but totally obtainable. Need to limit my meals to around 2k calories per day. And work out hour and half. I usually do that plus an hr or two training mma. So the burn is definetly there. I just need to prepare well. That's what kills me when I don't have food ready.
Just got back from gym and from cardio did 800 calories on elliptical, lifted for 35 minutes and then did ten minutes of sprints 20 on 40 off.
Other note research vibrams I know their was a class action suit about them couple years ago because they faked advertise the support.

Thanks . And I still got muscles. Was still able to bench 225 although not as many times as I'd like but also part of my goals is to bench 300 lbs by wedding (doable or not just have to work hard and if I don't I can still feel good as long as I put the effort in).

Scale is a big trigger for me too but did with myself today to have a base to start.

No Kung fu today but definetly tomorrow with some run training. Only thing that sucks about running on track no idea how much you burn. And I'm not doing the chest heart rate strap. Although I'm eyeing the Apple Watch 2. So those that didn't see my previous tread best deal I've seen on Apple Watch 2 is at khols. 369 (most places that price) and 105 dollar khols cash. Black Friday deal.

Just do your best, and don't look at the number.

A number is a number. Dieting and exercise will make you happier, and that will show in your self-confidence.
Thanks for this!

I also agree that 5 lbs a week is a lot of weight to lose.

The place to start is to cut out ALL sugar--lattes, soda, beer, wine, candy and the like along with ALL bread including pasta, crackers, processed cereal, etc., etc. That will lead to rapid weight loss. Eat like it's 1940 and cook your own food. Eat whole grains including brown rice and lots of veggies.

Are you a fitness nut? I ask this because it's so common to see people decide to lose weight, hit the gym like they were training for a 100 mile bike race only to end up so exhausted they quit. You're wiser to work out consistently 5 days a week at a level that doesn't kill you than what it sounds like you're doing. Look at how many people resolve to lose weight for their New Year's resolution, join a gym and go 3 times before giving up. Slow and steady wins the race.

One other thing. Have you ever watched the weight loss shows, especially Extreme Weight Loss? They're very impressive, and of course the person loses the weight in the end and is at their goal by the target date. They lose huge amounts of weight in short periods of time. I would bet money this is all fake, and your first post to begin this thread reminds me of that show with losing 65 pounds in 96 days. All I'm saying is that if this is part of your proof that it can easily be done, please realize that reality TV is FAKE.

Boogiesmash is an very active member of PC and has always put thought and research into things.

I have personally seen people lose weight by diet and exercise this way . Fat turns to muscle so even if OP doesn't lose X pounds, the results will be how clothes are going to feel different and self esteem increases.

Typically the first 10-15 lbs is water weight.

Boogie, I think you goals are reachable.

❤️

I have read that it is better to do elliptical after the weights - maximizes fat burn that way. I have not tried yet - just reporting what has been published.

I will research Vibrams - thanks.

My weight has always been an issue. I'm the emotional eater type, so I feel like I'm constantly eating to suppress my mood. Hang in there and good luck

I'm on the elliptical with my eyes closed. I'm hurting inside. I hate what I've become. And worried about New Years/birthday I don't want to be alone. Last time I was I tried to od. Made a promise never to be alone for nye. I don't know about this year.

My understanding is that it is OK as long as you are doing aerobic training such as the elliptical. It is strength training that requires rest days.
