I know I am late to the party, but hoping to join in.
I have 60 pounds to lose and plan to lose 5 lbs. per month.
I am currently on Optifast and am struggling not to cheat too much.
I should be doing yoga twice a week and walking three times a week.
I need to exercise for strength and cardio.
For me, my weight is directly related to what I put in my mouth.
Did lose 2 lbs. this morning after a good food day yesterday. Is prob water weight but I don't care.

Thanks for listening.

I have done all kinds of complicated diets over the years.
I have just lost 40 pounds using this method:

Do a quick internet search for a basal metabolic rate calculator.
Enter your info: height, age, gender
For the weight, enter your target weight.
The calculator will calculate the BMR for your target weight, in number of calories per day. Do not go over the number of calories given for your ideal weight every 24 hours.

I have to track calories, which I find easier than doing all sorts of crazy complicated recipes, etc. I can eat a "normal" diet along with my family.

I do keep my diet low carb, as I feel better doing so.

Any exercise you can do raises your body's metabolic rate and is a bonus for additional weight loss if you stay within the BMR range.

I don't know as this approach interests you; it's the easiest lifestyle change I've ever made for losing/controlling weight. It's an approach that can easily become a lifestyle. I've needed a lifestyle change.

Good luck to you whatever approach you use!
Oh... and WELCOME!

Things I've changed is eating off a smaller plate. About 6". Now I don't notice it, but I think it's help.
I try to walk fast when I'm shopping. It helps.
I park farther away from where I'm going.
I do squats before my first cup of coffee. Just 10.
I add little things. Nothing huge, bec big changes in my diet become a hurdle.
What little changes have you done?

Did a few shakes today and a couple of cookies. Had a bad day though and did not get off the couch much. Need to weigh tomorrow.

Since I lost my job on April 21 I've been in a tailspin diet wise. I've gained back 13 of the 18 pounds I had lost. I finally got back on track on Sunday. I tried Saturday but I got drunk and got the drunk munchies and ate half a bag of chips. So since Sunday I've been under 30 carbs a day. I committed myself to seven days of low carb. Then I can take a break and have a cheat meal. I'm craving French fries as always, and also domino's cinnamon sticks. I have vastly reduced my eating out this week so far. At least, I have cheapened my options. I spent $6 on a salad, and then $6 on Burger King (I ate just the patties). Plus $5 on snack bars. So still spending money but not buying whole meals and spending $25+ at a restaurant. I'm trying to reduce my eating out since I won't have a job and only have enough savings for the summer. Plus it's healthier.

I started on cabergoline for the prolactin issue. I also stopped the invega. I'm hoping between the two my prolactin will go down and I will have an easier time losing weight. I'm still hoping to get down to 175 someday.

Finally, success! Been following my way of eating for 12 days. I don't weigh myself, so I'm unsure of the pounds lost, but my pants are fitting better. I down loaded the myfitnesspal app and I have been consistent in the gym. I started with cutting out all wheat and starchy veggies the first week. Week 2, all cane sugar and sweeteners. On day 10 I noticed a sweet taste in my mouth, so I tested for ketones. Confirmation that I am indeed in ketosis, yay!

Depending on what you mean by night shift. When I worked 1500-2300 I would go before work. When I got off I would pack my lunch/dinner and snacks and lay out my workout clothes so I would just throw them on and go straight to the gym or for or run or whatever you do. When I worked 3rds 2300-0600 I would drink some NO explode or bullet proof coffee 30 min before the end of shift and go directly after work.

Getting strep throat derailed me. I was starving last night but too sick to go out and I'm out of groceries, so I ordered pizza. I lost a total of three pounds which isn't as dramatic as I would have liked but still good. Today I did a bit better but gave into a McDonald's milk shake to soothe my painful throat. Other than that it's been atkins shakes all day because my throat is too sore for solid food. I'm not that hungry anyway. I'm hoping I'll feel well enough to go grocery shopping tomorrow. The PA said I should feel a lot better after taking the antibiotics. Plus I won't be contagious anymore. I didn't want to spread strep throat all over the grocery store.

Day 16 of the ketogenic way of eating. Doing super good, getting mental clarity, shedding some pounds, I can feel it. Even my performance on the bike is improving! I hope I become fat adapted soon, that is when changes really start happening.

I know how you feel. I can't give up the beer either even though I know it will be better for my mental and physical health. It is my only crutch and I am not quite ready to let go of it yet.
