My sleep hours depend on my mood state. When I'm stable I sleep 6 to 9 hours per night. When depressed, 8 to up to 14, depending on the severity and characteristics. When hypomanic, my averages are 4 to 5. When full blown manic, maybe 2 or 3, or even none, again depending. So, I only have sleep issues when in episodes. Insomnia and hypersomnia are not issues for me when stable. I'll admit that if I didn't take my Seroquel XR I wouldn't be able to sleep much, but that would initially be more med related until of course a mood episode started. Sometimes weather affects my sleep amounts slightly.

What was the most valuable advice you ever received from your psychiatrist or therapist?

There's always a choice. Maybe the best choice still sucks, but it's still a choice.

Do you have a favorite song for calming down? (Do share)

No songs. When I'm agitated music makes it worse.

Do you know other people (IRL) besides family with mental illness?

Why did the chicken crossed the street?.

I am always watching the tv series benidorm.

I have the box set series 1-7, and then the final few series stand alone DVDS.

I always watch it from the start. I love Love Love it. such a funny show

when I was little I had a nursery ryme video which I watched constantly too

I also rewatch the wizard of oz and the lion king countless times.

question:

are their any foods/ food groups that you won't eat?

(example I will only really eat meat)

Yes always have done I have no nails at all. They are so tiny I can't get false nails as they have nothing to sit on. It's a form of self soothing for me. But apparently it's classed as self harming too???

Are any of carers for a parent? If so how do you cope?

My mom helps me more than I help her. But I am an OT so I've been around a lot of families in caregiver situations and if you ever need anything please feel free to PM me.

Why did you decide to join PC?

I decided to join because I wanted other people to talk to regarding my illness. I'm glad I did as you all have helped me immensely when I've needed it.

What does your screen name mean?

I'm a Californian and I call those drinks soda. My parents, who were from Brooklyn, called it "Coke", no matter what the flavor. Except my dad loved to drink what I call "soda water" - he called it "seltzer". (Haha, you asked...there's my paragraph answer, lol.)

Which hour of the day or night is your favorite hour?

Why it rains from the sky and not from the ground.

If it rained from the ground it might pick up small animals and drop them elsewhere? I have no idea.

Do you like thunderstorms?
