How Did You Sleep Last Night?

Sleep is one of our most important self care things, I think. How we sleep can and will affect our whole day, so getting enough sleep is really important to our health and well being, both mentally and physically.

What you did to get to sleep and stay asleep might be good to mention also, so we all can get a better idea of the kinds of things that have helped others to get a good night's sleep. Conversely, what you did that did not help you get a good night's sleep is also valuable, as it helps us all to see what we should avoid doing if we went to get a good night's sleep.

Please share here often. We sleep sometime during each 24 hour period, hopefully!

I didn't.

as well as the imsomnia, for some reason I kept thinking about bob (a guy I used to know from years ago)

I'm not sure if it's a sign that I should try and get in contact, but even if I did- I don't know his number.. we moved on ages ago.

I fell asleep around 11:40 with the help of trazadone, melatonin, and valerian root. I woke up at 8:40 but stayed in bed until 9:30 due to anxiety. So I guess I slept well. Had weird dreams though.

I'm anticipating not sleeping Monday night, the night before my first day of work.

I've been battling insomnia the past few days. I'm taking extra medication to try and combat it. I only got 4 hours sleep last night which is not enough for me.....I'm going to try to avoid taking a nap so I can hopefully get to sleep early tonight and reset my sleep routine to a more normative schedule.

I didn't sleep well at all, woke up several times because of my neck hurting. If I didn't take trazadone, I wouldn't sleep at all. I've taken some kind of sleep aid for about 10 years.

I actually slept well, which was a relief, because I overslept yesterday. I do this positive psychology thing before going to bed every night, which is to say to myself aloud, "I'm sleeping soundly, I'm sleeping well, I'm sleeping peacefully, I'm sleeping restfully...." over and over again a few times. This helps me get to sleep, and if I wake in the middle of the night, if I remember to, I do it again.

I also take Clonazepam and some other meds to control Bipolar manics, so that helps too, of course.

I usually don't dream, but I had a fascinating dream in which myself and a group were planning a hiking trip and it was my job to carry the salt. I had to carry it in a back pack. It was light. I was relieved by the fact that it was not heavy!

Terrible. Was awakened at midnight out of dream. Very disorienting and left me feeling fearful and mind racing. Gave up and took a half immovane.

Horrible I was up and down all night. To add insult to injury I also woke up with a sore neck.

Usually I sleep very well but I was so upset last night I slept in the recliner in the den with my cat and dog. Both decided they deserved more room then I did and shouldn't sleep for more then 2 hours at a time.

I got about 7 hours, I think, and since I am in a manic, this is pretty good. I don't recall any dreams, but that is normal for me. I think I did get up in the middle of the night and ate though, which since I am trying to watch my weight, is not such a good idea. I tried to eat as little for breakfast as I could, to make up for it.

It took awhile to fall asleep but I'm thinking that might be because I've been sleeping in till 8:30ish every day. I hope when I go back to work my schedule will adjust because I'll be up at 6:15 every day. It will take a few days to get back on schedule. So I'll be tired for the first week of school. But that happens every year. I did get about 7 hours of sleep.

Doing a lot of coughing and it's worse at night. Slept on the couch so I could be propped up a little. Slept off and on. Think I need to go to convenient care again

My sleep has been very interrupted lately.
Lots of stress and in an autoimmune flare. (pain)
Temazepam has helped a bit.

At least I am not having crazy, vivd dreams since discontinuing the Latuda.
That was wild!

Sweet dreams to all!

Oh no! I'm sorry you are coughing again.
I hope it clears up quickly.

I didn't sleep enough but it was my fault, I was writing and talking to a friend.

I find that the best way to cope with my trouble starting to sleep is to force myself to be up early the next day so I'd be physically exhausted ending up sleeping early. Sometimes it takes days for it to work but then if I try to get into a routine and avoid too much light, put filters in phones and tablets I sleep better. Sometimes I lose my progress but then I do it all over again.

But yep, there are days I don't sleep at all. Or spend a whole night awake and when it's about 11 am I fall asleep or better saying faint. But lately things are better.

Nine hours, a bit broken, but good sleep none-the-less. Since I have been taking Temazepam I have been sleeping well. Too well perhaps. I would rather sleep less, good quality, sleep. I am going to talk to my pdoc about this on Monday and see if we can halve my dose.

I slept about 6 or 7 hours last night. I've been trying to follow a set routine before bed, and a set schedule. About an hour before going to bed I do deep breathing using a little device called a stress eraser. Also take restoril, melatonin and benadryl. I try to look at nature shows on TV which relax me. Usually I'm up about about 5 or 6 times a night checking doors and windows around the house. This beats manic episodes where I'll stay awake 6 out of 7 nights, with visual, olfactory and auditory hallucinations.

Bipolar I, mixed, with psychotic features

Maybe 4.5 hours.....only because of Seroquel and the other meds. During the time I slept, I had a terrible recurring dream (well, half sleep state is more like it) of my toe being amputated, which came from some place in reality, because I have an infection that I just can't quite kick (which I had a procedure on a few weeks ago). I know I'm not going to need an amputation, but I was feeling this intense pain in the dream that's even worse than currently in reality. These weird sensations keep happening when half-sleeping. Sometimes it's hard to tell if some of it is psychosomatic, since it's a lot more intense while at night in that dreamlike state. I can't reach that deep sleep state at all lately, and it's bothering me.
