Self Care thread Self care thread
please contribute, it can be something as simple as a shower.

This is a place to post something that we accomplished to

take care better of our selves. (self-care)


1. had lunch with a friend and laughed, socialized and good for my soul.
2. remembered to take my antibiotics.

I went to therapy and talked about my housing goals, which are to have a house bought and closed by January, make some renovations to it, and move in by March.

I have literally $30,070 in the bank that I've been saving up for a long time. This should hopefully be enough to cover the downpayment, any renovations, moving, and terminating my lease agreement early. (FYI, $30k here is pennies. We get paid more in this area than most of the U.S. because of the extremely high cost of living. Houses here are around $250-500k on average, with many of them being around $700k+. It's b.s. because a house from the 1930s with no A/C should NOT cost $250k for 900 sq ft. It's probably so old that there is heat leakage.)

Took a bath even though I full of anxiety. Almost broke down crying in it, it was so hard.

Put on makeup. Put my hair up.

Went and got something to eat with my son.

Today I had almost zero time to myself, and I desperately need alone time to recharge (yay introverts). Before bed, I took a shower and watched Downton Abby for 20 minutes. It wasn’t a lot but it helped.

I feel like I look just terrible. I have neglected self-care a lot lately. My sweet husband never really says anything, even at my worst. I sort of wish he would in a very nice way. My "looking just terrible" goes beyond just not showering or hardly brushing my hair, my face has a distressed look, I'm as pale as a ghost, I look older even without having hardly any wrinkles.

Doing the minimum seems like a lot lately.

Sorry this is not a post about an accomplishment. I'm assuming this particular thread does welcome posts about struggles, too. If not, I wish there was one.

I really struggled today; yet, did take a shower and washed my hair.
I also brushed my teeth, flossed, used my Water Pic.

Someone from pdoc's office called to check on me again. I keep forgetting to tell them that im afraid every day all the time that people will break into my apartment. I did say I often feel i'll faint/pass out. So at least I talked with them.

Last night I took a shower (without washing my hair or other in shower care), but only because I was so profusely sweating after making dinner. Sweat was just running down my face.

My hair looks awful! Finally washing it would help, but I've neglected getting my hair cut and colored because I want the last cut to grow out. My usual stylist gave me a bad cut last time. Also, I am in need of a REAL conditioning treatment. My old stylist was at a fancy salon that gave intense conditioning treatments. The newer salon considers a conditioning treatment just putting regular conditioner in my hair for 30 seconds. There is clearly a difference.

I'm thinking about returning to my old stylist, but she is so expensive. That's why I quit her for my newer hair stylist, but my newer one's prices have gone up suddenly. I'm thinking it's no longer a good deal.

If I go back to my old stylist I feel I need to explain my absence for so long. I think I'll just say I was away from the area and leave it at that. She never talked much with me anyway, unlike my newer stylist. I hope my newer one doesn't text me.

I'm getting my eyebrows cleaned up today at the old salon. I've neglected that severely for a long time. I'm hoping with that and a "spa" treatment for my hair, I'll feel better about my appearance and that in itself will encourage healthier behaviors.
