I legit wish I could share some of the sleep I am getting. I have never been dealing with this amount of sedation in my life.. 14-16+ hours of sleep a day... my exhaustion is exhausing

Hoping you all find some sleep tonight

I woke at 9:30 with my stomach feeling off again. I’ve been up since: I’m not sure what’s up with this waking up at 9 and then not getting back to sleep until 3 thing. It’s been happening most nights. I think someone mentioned Geodon causing insomnia and I did have mine increased just about as long ago as this has been going on. I take a 5 milligram melatonin here and there but they don’t seem to do much. I just have to wait until I suddenly crash at 3. At least I’ve been sleeping until 9 now.

I'm trying to carry on but it's hard. Although I was prescribed Klonopin, I won't take it because of its highly addictive nature. I'm still taking Melatonin here and there. I want to start taking some lemon balm, but I don't know.

The Depakote prescribed for mania won't be getting attention from me either. After researching it, I'd rather not try it. My previous pdoc is an asshole for prescribing items I cannot use for the good long-run. I'm glad I'm leaving him for another doctor.

Hope is still there, but fading a bit.

The combination of melatonin and valerian root can be quite helpful.

Geodon gave me really bad insomnia.

Can I take it with Trileptal? I'm not sure.

Last night I slept every hour, waking up here and there. I took 6 mg of Melatonin combined with Trileptal and Sleepy time tea.

Bought some magnesium chewables. They calm me.

I know I need to add to my med cocktail. It's just a matter of finding what works. I want to use Lamictal. But, how do I deal with the mania aspect without using antipsychotics?

I would, but of course I can't advise you to. Definitely something to check out online or ask your pdoc. Oh - I will say that mine was in favor of the melatonin/valerian combo, regardless of which psych meds are involved.

Well, many people with BD take only Lamictal. I know several who do really well with that, or Lamictal with an occasional prn anti-anxiety med.

Lamictal caps mania well; it's apparently so-so for treating depression. Personally, I can't do the game of life without an AP. Or 2.

I was up until 3 a.m. last night/this morning but I finally fell asleep. I was going to get up at 6 to walk but yeah right! I ended up waking up at 10 feeling bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

Great! Also, they do become acclimated to your schedule. It just takes a bit of time. Then they get upset if the schedule changes

This is a cool thread....being an esteemed member of the bipolar club (i say that with love, cuz i love my tribe) I too struggle with sleep. Honestly, daily exercise really helps. Especially if it is intense exercise for at least 30 min per day. Now, I know not everyone wants to hear that, but even walking helps.
Now that said...i also take ambien. Yes, it is addicting and is certainly NOT for everyone. But managing my bipolar, mood fluctuations and ensuring my sleep each nite so I could work the next day & function is more important in my lifestyle when weighing the addiction piece of ambien. AGAIN, not for everybody I know and should be discussed with your medical doctor.

I’ve also had sleep studies done...they are fascinating and can tell you a lot about your sleeping habits, REM states and identify any sleep apnea disorders.

Last night was troubled sleep. I don’t recall the first disturbing dream that woke me. I drifted off again and was in an out patient office where they took off my big toes and a second one on my left foot with a horse hoof trimmer. Then they swaddled my feet in huge white bandages put me in an old wheelchair and wheeled me to a nursing home. The nursing home looked more like a combination boarding school, old bar and bowling alley. Then a foot and a half of water came flooding in and washed me half way down an alley where people were using beach balls to bowl.

Once again I woke wide awake up at 9:30. I’ve been dealing with this severe blurry vision since I woke up. I can barely ****ing see or type. If I hold the phone 5 inches from my face I can’t see a thing. I get blurry vision often when I wake up but it goes away a few seconds after I wake up. It doesn’t last hours like it is now. I don’t feel as sick as I did yesterday although I do still feel sick and my throat and head hurts pretty badly. Maybe I’ll go make some tea.

Slept four hours. Two of them back to back. I watch t.v. until I doze back off every hour on the hour after taking Trileptal and one Melatonin. I'm a lot calmer than usual thanks to the magnesium I'm taking. I guess there's a silver lining in it all.

I HATE blurry vision!!! I have it every day for hours. It's a med side effect, I am sure.
