I'm completely behind here. Hugs to all! Today I will try to get some reading in. I want to force myself to take it a little easier.
Yesterday was intensely busy! I had five separate buyers of vintage items come. I had had about four buyers of stuff in days before. Making moolah is nice and direly needed! We also gave stuff away for free. The advantage to having people come is that you can often get them to go home with more than they intended. Also, a few hoisted what they came for from our basement or second floor, sparing us some back breaking work. We still have a couple of antiques we want to sell. Other less valuable stuff may end up at the end of our driveway for bulk pickup day, which is conveniently on October 14th. The day before yesterday was conveniently electronics recycling day and paper shredding day at locations in my county. I've already made two trips in the past 30 days to a medication drop off at the police station. Two big bags worth! We also donated foodstuffs to a food pantry. I scheduled a Vietnam Vets donation pick up in November. You know, they are basically the only ones picking up during the pandemic. Also, last week I managed to consign 17 clothes items. That was only about half that I brought. You'd be surprised some of the stuff people get ultra excited about to buy. When I posted my vintage colored Pyrex mixing bowls on Craigslist, I got three eager inquiries so quickly that I had to take the listing down after only 15 minutes. The people who did not get it asked that I contact them if the first inquirer falls through. Even a vintage Hitachi Chime-O-Matic rice cooker elicited excitement. It helped that I offered these particular items for free. My husband has a giant real 14 point elk antler rack from his father who was a hunter. Luckily it's been hidden in the basement stairway all of these years! But Hubby looked it up and they fetch over $1,000. Can you believe that!?!? I hope we can sell that quickly. We're not bringing it with us back to Czech Republic! Anyone interested? ![]() Hubby has been working on the stuff I can't do (i.e. home lease stuff in Czech language and other). Some of the other stuff he's done/doing I have had to either take over, or light a fire under his butt about. Between his current anxiety and depression and his ADD, it is necessary. It's a miracle that I am doing so well. I also worked in our front and back gardens, the day before yesterday, and spruced up the deck. A photographer is coming tomorrow (Tuesday) to photograph the house exterior areas. The interior, at this moment, is crazy chaos with boxes and stuff all over the place. There is still so much to do. Yes, I've been to yard sales in which they're selling vintage glassware...stuff I grew up using that my mom had owned years before I was born. Never thought of it as "vintage", it was just old! Now it's fetching crazy-high prices. Wish my sisters and I would have kept some of that stuff. I think I'll pass on the antlers, but $1000 - not bad ![]()

Beautiful fall days lately, and the leaves are beginning to change. I love being able to have the sliders open all day.
A good friend came over yesterday. We hung out, ate lunch, lots of sweets, chatted on the porch and just all around had a good time. I almost never go out anymore, so it's so nice to have this occasional socializing. I talked to my mom last night and she's not doing well. Her MS has suddenly taken a turn for the worse and her legs aren't working. She's very very depressed. She has 24/7 care because of the MS and, more recently, a fall that led to an ankle fracture, and she said she can't take it anymore, all of the different people coming in and out and some of them she really doesn't like. Her moods have been intense and really up and down, but I'm not sure I've ever heard so depressed as she was last night. I'm very concerned.

Big burst of energy this morning and got all the chores done in record time. But now I have no motivation to do anything else and it's frustrating and depressing. Maybe today I'll take that shower that is LONG overdue.
Take care. Be safe.

Today is a slightly sad day for me. My car will be picked up by its upcoming new owner. Though not my first car, it was my first brand new car, and it has served me well since 1997. I remember that I bought it in autumn. My then fiance (my hubby) took a picture of me lying on the hood. It was in a parking area of a nice local park with autumn leaves in their full splender. I guess I was 25 years old back then.
This morning, Hubby and I had to empty all of our kitchen cabinets. The handyman is painting the rest of the cabinets and putting on the already painted doors and drawer fronts. We did pack some special dishes in bubble wrap already. The stuff we don't regularly use. When I put things back, I'll do a sorting out yet again. Tomorrow he'll do the bathrooms. My house is a catastrophe area! |

Yeah, I went for a walk/run. It helped a bit while I was out and especially talking to one of my neighbors who is really nice but then I realized she's moving and now I'm back in the pits. I wish I could move with her.

It's horrible when nice neighbours move away. That sort of thing affects me deeply too.

Great. Now I've got to take my wife's car in because the check engine light has come on.
On the positive side, we've got the voucher for a week at a hotel already. So we'll be moving out of my in-laws' today, I think. My moods are all over the place, but it's all natural response to the situation.

I'm listening to Barenaked Ladies- Another Postcard. Actually, listening to that whole album.
I just did my first load of laundry here. I finally figured out how to use the credit card machine for them. You can also put in quarters but who has those anymore? Sat out on my balcony for a bit. It's chilly today so I came in after a while. It's sunny out at least. I got spaghetti sauce on my white sweatshirt! Just a few splatter dots, but still, it's not pure anymore. At least, I didn't do something horrible like dump the entire lasagna on the carpet! (It's carpet under my dining room table! My aunt said I should get something to go under it.) I hope I can go to sleep early tonight and get up early like I did this morning.

I'm doing my laundry right now. Quarters. Now none of the stores will give out change because of a shortage of change due to covid (??). So the bank is the only option. The first time I saw card laundromats was when I was in Paris & I thought they were ingenious! Sooo much easier than quarters.

My car is gone. Gotta admit that I did, indeed, shed a few tears. It's really a bit like an end to a major era in my life. One that represented the most independent brief period of my life.
Of course many things in my home (and my home, itself) are mine as well as my husband's, and I contributed plenty towards it all not just financially, but in love and care. However, there aren't too many things that were/are 100% mine and mine alone. Things I bought for me, vs. received as a gift. My husband told me to just look out of the window and wave goodbye. I did. I then looked again after those tears, and it was gone. Of course the money will go towards improvements to our house, which we're selling. We definitely hope to make a good amount when selling it. That will finance our future lives. Our retirements. |

Ooo windy out. While I was taking a shower the wind really came whipping and tipped over the smallest flowers.
Yes it’s afternoon and I’m just now getting my shower. Whenever my hair is due for a washing I postpone the shower. I’m very tempted to just cut it all off it’s half way down my back now and thick. Something my sister tells me I shouldn’t complain about. Mostly I don’t except when it’s washing time. I wash it once a week on Sunday. Yup this is Monday I pt it off an extra day. I don’t mind the in and out showers but hair washing and conditioning is such a chore. Still have to vacuum, that’s a Sunday chores too, but another one I didn’t do. Really apathetic since the days have gotten so short. I hate winter, not so much for the cold and snow as for the short short days. I’ve fantasizes about living where there’s almost 24 hour days but that probably wouldn’t be good for me either.

My visit with my sister went well yesterday. She said my apartment looked good and also very clean. That was such a relief to hear because I'm constantly worried it's not clean enough. Anyway, we talked over coffee and cookies. She brought me the knife set, meat thermometer, and recipe book. She forgot the hair dryer but will drop that off this weekend probably.
I didn't shower today. I'm so lazy in the mornings that I just don't feel like it so I'm gonna start taking them at night and see if that helps. Need to do my grocery shopping tomorrow cause lately I've been living off just pop tarts and coffee lol Not sure if I'm gonna stay up all night or not. Might, since I slept so late today. (Till 11:30 am) Anyway, I see my psych NP on Wednesday. Gonna see about getting off the wellbutrin because it might be making my anxiety worse. I slept too late to take my morning meds today. Will get back on track

I worked on a household project that was long overdue. Only stopped to make dinner for the family. I feel accomplished today!
It’s been sunny with cloudless skies for a week now and will continue for the foreseeable future. I’m soaking up that sun each day and producing good ole serotonin in preparation for shorter days. I hope everyone is having a peaceful day! ![]() |

Dealt with nausea in the car to and from work today. Maybe the movement of the car? I forgot to take the sinus med in the morning. Now my head feels heavy so I took one. I also got some ginger candy to see if it helps when I get nauseated.
My student wasn’t there again. I heard the district may be considering either hybrid or full virtual for him. Yay for me! I honestly think that’s part of the problem. I don’t think he’s as out of control as he puts on. He’s definitely ill, no doubt about that, but I think he’s playing it up too to get out of school. If he goes full virtual I will still be with him, just on the computer. Good news, putting up with him has earned me service excellence employee for October! Four years at my other school and I never got recognized for squat. I’m happy they see how hard I work to help him. I’m still very anxious. I have a pdoc appt tomorrow so I’ll talk to her about it. Hopefully I can get something for my panic/anxiety attacks.
