Do you have any "childish" coping skills, like cuddling teddy bears?
Unless you count self-medicating with sweets, I guess not. I've actually never been overly into childish things, even as a child. Or the things I really loved (dancing and my bike) are generally not strictly considered child only activities. I do like my pillow and alpaca blanket for comfort. Otherwise I cuddle with my husband.

Question: Please also answer Sapien's question above.

I don't know if this is really a childish thing I do. I'd run my fingers on my eyebrow (just one). I don't rub it, but just lightly stroke it when I want to calm myself or put myself to sleep. I've been doing it since I was a child.

Can you relax when you are sleeping away from home?

Usually. I sometimes sleep better at my sister's than I do at home. Her home is very quiet.

Do you do any crafts or projects?

Not in the usual sense, unless you count gardening or occasional flower arranging. Or if gourmet cooking is included, I do that most days of the week. Cooking and baking are my main passions. Also, recently I started a weight loss/healthful eating plan. I've been putting a good deal of effort into that. It also involves the cooking/baking, as well as balancing carbs, fat, protein, and vitamin and minerals consumption. When I'm driven to do this, I'm very driven. Hubby benefits, too, unless he does a lot of secret snacking.

What is your ideal outside temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius?

Vulcan of the original Star Trek series. I’d actually love to visit many worlds of Star Trek. In the new aa Abrams Star Trek Vulcan is destroyed. But I’m torn if I want to visit it in Kirk’s time or. Picard’s time. Heck why not both? 😃

Oh right, you want a question! Let’s see, ….are you Star Trek or Star Wars? Why?

I honestly don't know the difference. Not my thing although my brother loved it.

What would your name be if you could choose anything?

I don't dislike my given name, but it is a spelling pain in the butt, especially with my married surname. My maiden surname was easy to spell, especially in the US, and even Czechs know that surname. As I am now (married), I think I'm the only person in the world with my combo of names. In any case, I never had kids, but for girls I always liked the names Emily and Nora. In Czech Republic, the Czech version of my surname is easy to spell, unlike in the US. My Americanized version (in my passport) is confusing for Czechs as it lacks the Czech diacritical marks and is otherwise the male version, while I am female. Without knowing me, Czechs would assume I am male if they didn't see me. In the US, alliteration of my names was also an issue, as well as my legal given name being the usual shortened version of a longer given name. And a differently spelled version, at that. And the icing on the cake is that some documents show my middle name as my full childhood one, while others show my maiden surname initial. These discrepancies were not my doing. In Czech Republic, middle names are uncommon in the first place, unlike in the US and many other countries. Sorry for the venting. Raw subject lately.

What male names do you like best? Or female, if you'd like to answer that?

Noah and Logan for male. Samantha for female

What's your favorite thing to have for a snack?

Yes, I do know someone with BD. I feel very comfortable with her, as if we're from the same planet.

Would you enjoy a magic show?

Yes. I have a few family members who have the disorder. Also, I met some people through a local DBSA (Depression & Bipolar Support Alliance) meeting I used to go to. Also met a few during inpatient/IOP and AA meetings that I kept in touch with, to a degree. I don't know anyone with the disorder in the new country I'm living in.

What has been one of the harder aspects of living with bipolar disorder?

The hardest thing for me was being unable to engage with my children during depressive episodes. They’re grown now, and I live with so much guilt and regret.

What coping skill helps you the most?

I would love to see a magic show and perhaps be asked to pick in a card during the card trick.. they always facinate me. I see them done on tv and I'm like wow
magicians are great. I don't know if you've ever heard of dynamo, but he's awesome at what he does- and he goes round doing magic for celebreties and members of the pubblic.

listening to music, I think. I am just so invested in keeping my music current, discovering new artists, and even listening to stuff from around the world. music goes where ever I go...

question: how do you feel about being hugged/ touched, by the people that know you?. do you find it an invasion of your privacy and something you can't handle, or do you find it comforting and a much needed support?

I like physical affection. I suppose mostly from my husband. I always loved hugging and kissing my mother, too. [Best hug in the world!] And my pets. As for other family members, I don't mind it, but the rest of my family aren't'/weren't very huggy kissy types. I'm otherwise not, either. Not because I don't like it, but more how I was raised (customs). In my husband's country, it's more common to give the stereotypical central European kisses on both cheeks. Again, I don't really mind it, but generally don't initiate.

Was there ever a point in your life (or bipolar experience) when you felt your behavior was very strange or peculiar?

I was in a very bad mixed episode, looking for anything that might help me calm down and stumbled on this board. It helped a lot to have people in my life who understood why I was acting the way I was.

What is an unusual fact that you know?

Hmm... humans have the most painful birth process of any natural animal? This is because our heads are too damn big especially compared the relative narrowness of the birth canal.

Ever have a strange pet? Even if it was just like a worm you found for a day.

It was just about a day, only, but I thought I'd keep a blowfish as a pet. They're cute! I even put a makeshift diaper on it because...you know. Obviously it died being out of water. We caught it in the Barnegat Bay. I think I was only 4 or 5 years old.

What was your very first pet? And how old were you?

Got Disney plus have watched a few things but tbh I can't be bothered with sitting down watching films/documentaries etc. Attention span not great these days.

Have you been watching Euro 2020? If so what's your thoughts on it.... if not have you started watching Wimbledon if so what's your thoughts? If neither appeal to you will you be watching the Olympics in Tokyo?
