Hello all! Checking in. I spoke too soon about my miraculous recovery. For the most part I’ve been in a state of delirium (talking gibberish as mom put it) with high fever, a terrible cough, chest pain and not oriented to time or place. I’ve slept 20 of the 24 hour periods for the past few days. I was finally able to get to an urgent care today and I tested positive for the flu. Fortunately mom has not, at this point, caught it. Boy, was I surprised! I’ve had the flu vaccine and I’m so very careful. How bizarre.

I hope I’m back on my feet soon. There are projects to finish around the house and a women’s empowerment party Sunday night that I’d really like to attend. I have several social engagements next week as well.

I hope everyone has a peaceful weekend. Much love

I hope your flu passes soon, @Sunflower123! Plenty of rest and water, which I know you know.

Sounds like a pretty bad case of the flu! Hope you feel better soon

I'm glad you're still going to aqua fitness, I really think that's what's best for you right now. Part of taking care of yourself like we all need to do especially after a major loss. And like someone said your SS Card will probably show up as soon as you get a new one

Today, Sunday, is hair washing day. It's such a chore for me because I have to wash, blow dry and straighten it otherwise its completely unruly. I really hate doing it but I feel so much better afterwards.

Then I'll go to my partner's folks place for lunch. His mother is SUCH a good cook she always makes the most amazing food!

Have you ever tried a blow dryer brush, @Crazy Hitch? My stylist recommended it and I bought one from Amazon (about $30). I love it! So much easier on my arms, works much faster than a regular blow dryer.

I don’t have the coordination to blow dry my hair. I never inherited my sisters chromosomes for things like that. I was such a tomboy I never practiced makeup or hair stuff. Then when puberty hit I went with the natural long haired hippy bohemian look. I could braid but that’s about it. Now my hair is short since I started aqua fitness and it really needs taming. It curls any which way. So I’m going to the hair dressers the day before the funeral. They can blow dry it right.

Sir is such a character. I had yogurt for breakfast, he loves to lick the bowl. I finished and yelled his name and he came running. The minute he finished he went back to his spot in the window. Watching for birds, squirrels and bunnies! 😂

Yeah I’ve got one - it’s a round brush like a barrel. I used to use it when my hair was a bit longer.

Next weekend is worse. I have to dye my hair myself because I no longer go to the hairdresser because of time and money. Have to hide the grey , somehow

Sitting here scarfing down Taco Bell food. I'm ashamed of myself, I've always been such a healthy eater, but during covid I got lax and developed some bad eating habits that are hard to break.

Tomorrow will be a lovely 70 degrees, but then the week to come will be cold, oddly so, for the end of February. And some weather reports are threatening another "atmospheric river"," that weird cyclone thing that forms over the ocean, moves inland, and causes torrential rainstorms. The environment needs the rain, but this time if we get that kind of rain & wind, I'm going to get a free bag of sand to put on my bedroom window ledge so my floor doesn't flood again

I'm still not feeling good. I really don't know whats up. My bug I had on Wednesday seemed to be a 24 hour thing but the fatigue is still there. My eyes look weird and yellowish and I'm just nauseated and very tired. Everything I eat causes me to urgently need to use the bathroom. I did take a shower finally today. I ate ok today. I'm into these microwable pancake protein cups call Kodiak flapjacks. They also make muffins and oatmeal and other stuff. Its a good mix of carbs and protein. I emailed my therapist and cancelled my therapy session for Monday. I'm so tired of hearing that food and eating more is the answer to every little issue I have. I want to hear from my primary doctor before I see her again.

My sister and brother in law are going out tommrow and are dropping off all 3 of the kids for my mom to babysit. I am so not looking forward to it with how I've been feeling. They will pick up the baby but the boys will probably spend the night.

I get my sister and bil need a break and a date night. But they do ask my mom to watch the kids a lot. And go to their games and stuff, and they don't really give much back to her.

But **** do I not feel good right now.

I'm sorry you're still feeling lousy @Mountaindewed. I understand how it can get annoying when a t is glued to one subject to the exclusion of all else. Can you talk with her about how you're feeling about the food stuff?

@wildflwoerchild25;, if you're out there, please check in. I feel very concerned about you.

I hate having to wash and dry my hair. Luckily (though sometimes I say otherwise), my hair grew very curly after 40. Now, there's no way on earth I could ever blow dry my hair straight. Before I left the US, my hair stylist there even gave up. I did have a stylist in Czech Republic who managed a couple times, but then she went home afterwards, tired.

Nammu, I never really learned how to put make up on, either, other than just a bit of lipstick and blush. No woman in my family used much more than that. No one in my life ever pressured me to use more. I don't even wear that much jewelry, even though my husband has given me tons over the year. I try to wear some on days just so he knows I like it.

I always wore nicely-done make-up when I was younger. I've become so allergic to eye make-up. I hate it, because I like to wear eyeliner and mascara. I just wear some powder. I've never been fond of lip stick. A little lip gloss is okay. I love playing with my hair. Always wanted to be a tomboy, but never could be, haha.

If I get delinquent about caring for my hair, it gets pretty darned frizzy. I use an extremely good frizz control curl enhancer that helps keep it more tame. Luckily they also sell it in CZ, but I have used it for years now. You can see it at Curl Defining Cream for Curly Hair | Hair Styling | Moroccanoil | Moroccanoil It's not cheap, but it lasts a long time since a little goes a long way, even on my huge amount of head hair. After washing/conditioning, I put in a little of this product and then scrunch my hair. If I didn't "scrunch" my hair, it would not have as nice and defined curls. That method would likely better define waves, as well.

So mad, the people that stayed with us just texted they don't have room for us to stay with them for a couple of weeks for their wedding and my sister's wedding. They have more space than we did. They asked why we couldn't just fly down twice in a month just for a weekend and get a hotel. Um...poor.

I hurt my back yesterday. At least today I'm not getting shocks of pain, like I did after just injuring it. My back hadn't been 100% even before that, but I attributed that to the lousy bed we sleep in. Yesterday's injury likely happened when I was scrubbing the shower stall. I'm trying to do little, but I can't do nothing. I needed to do laundry and finish the cleaning. I did do more, but we'll skip the mopping for now. We at least vacuumed up dust bunnies and debris. My inactivity is hurting me physically. If I was more limber I'd be better off.

I need to study my Czech. Even Hubby is pushing me to do more. I'm proud that I haven't missed a single class.

I've barely cooked for weeks because of all of our errands/appointments. Also, I hate the kitchen where we're staying. It's demotivating.
