Regrets that my ex is far away and that she left me, that is.

I still talk to her from time to time. Mostly about the kids and sometimes just to be friendly but this morning was a reminder so vivid as to why I do not regret her being gone.

Back when we were trying to fix things and saw a counselor (he was a fckwit so we only went once) he was analyzing us and pointed to me and said something about me. He said "he does not play well with others" and we both laughed about it later. It has always remaind something we joke about from time to time.

Well this morning on fb I shared another's post that said "if you were to have a warning label, what would it say?" I posted as a joke to my ex "warning: does not play well with others" I thought it was funny. But even funnier was her reply.

She posted what she thought her warning should be and she simply said "warning: hot!" LMFAO. I replied with "gratuitous self promotion much?"

In any case, this is part of the reason I know now what I do not want if I ever get back into the "game". why is it that some women think it's ok to be loud and proud about how hot they think they are? i don't get it.

Perhaps that's the very seed of how she sees herself and relates to the rest of the universe.

I don't know.

It's the social media generation I think, coupled with the "me" generation. Everyone thinks that they're "all that and a bag of chips". My warning "needs to refrain from unnecessary talking". Or maybe I need a warning around me that say's "splash zone" for those moments when the emos get really out of control.

I hate that, it's so unattractive whether from a male or female! Being up one's own bottom is not only unattractive but shows just how much that person is consumed by themselves and probably leaves little room for anyone else up there. Saying that, it is fine to know you are good looking or whatever but to splash it around or grandly announce it is cheap. You are born the way you are born and look the way you do down to no fault or greatness from yourself. I think people with little else rely on their looks (not saying this goes for your ex). I am neither beautiful or ugly, just average but in no way do I account any of my good points to eyes or hair blah blah blah. It's pot luck. Get over yourself I say, one day all you will have is saggy skin and wrinkles....what then?

I think that is pretty funny label. I'm sure many of us on here can relate to that. I do not know what makes some people promote themselves as being "hot". That term is relative to the veiwer only. But I always just figure they have the problems just like I have mine and try to let it go. It's good you are learning from your relationship or getting out of it. Best wishes to you.

The "me-ism" of today's generation gets to me more often than not. It's crazy. We're not all that and not one of us is all that brilliant, great or even close to perfect. The me world tends to say if it's important to you, if you think it, if you feel it, it must be ok and everything is share worthy. I call bullsht on that one. Thing is there's far too much that isn't share worthy! I am so sick of the over-sharers of the world.

I mean *warning rant* do you really think I, along with millions of others in the world are really interested in the fact that you had a morning walk today and saw [insert random insignificant find]?

It is for this reason that I attempt to keep my fb as little as I use it to random and impersonal things. 99% of the time you won't find me posting on the status of my day.. or much sharing with my personal thoughts or life. Game stats, and entertaining things only.

Ok TMI I know.. sorry ::: puts rant monster back in the kennel::::

when I hear someone go "I'm hot" whether girl or guy I throw up a little in my mouth. it's sickening. How did I spend as many years as I did with her? o.O Boggles the mind.

And by the way stating you're hot does not make you confident. It makes you conceited or very much in denial depending on the person.

I like to fall back on the idea that praise is best left to the other person. In other words, praise for yourself tends to be gratuitous self plugging. Praise from another person about you is not only more credit-worthy, it just plain feels better if your own opinion of yourself is kept in check and every once in awhile someone else might think you're great and say so.

Now to only make the rest of the world understand this o.O

Yeah it does!

My mother-in-law was just over (as you already know) and she would comment a lot about how good looking or not a person was on tv...this really annoyed me to bits. You can't mock someone for not looking beautiful or whatever. People don't get a say in what you look like...it just is! Too much emphasises is placed on looks.

I believe no-one gives a shyte. FB is based on social structures most prevalent to groups of chimps.

It is about appearing to be important and having a circle of admirers who will validate and justify you.

I find it quite fascinating from a scientific point of view. Otherwise... it is BS on an astronomical scale.

Just my tuppence...

We all need the validation but it's the fishing for it that gets sickening sometimes.

Sorta like the difference between asking if someone likes the burger you just grilled and asking if it isn't the best burger they ever had.

I have no right or close understanding to say anything about it but the "God quote" just makes me shudder.

I would click a like on your response, perfect & clever!

Her responses... weird... sounds like she thinks she's in a room with a glass of wine surrounded by admirers who laugh at any dumb joke she says because she's so "hot"... (I feel Carly Simon's song You're So Vane coming on!)

Agree, total wtf statement... there is no honorable response I can think of to that. It's not even worthy of any response...

I have it a bit different on FB I guess. I don't have anyone on my friend's list that posts shite that makes me cringe.
No old school friends that I never really liked.
Not my kids dad. Not my kids dad's family. I have an ex or two whom I parted ways with totally amicably and have no unresolved or lingering issues with.
My FB contacts consist only of people that I wouldn't mind having over for dinner.
I had way more at one point but their status updates made me want to stab myself in the eye with a spoon.
I did a huge clean up And admittedly, when I or someone I know posts about a walk we/they went on, and how we saw the first signs of autumn or, share something we find meaningful, it is done in a genuine 'wanting to share with friends' and not just building a fake Visual of Who I Think I AM -- like so many do.
As for her comments and her response... yep it was like she was standin on her I'm SO Awesome pedestal.

lol My fb is pretty clean too no family. Actually she's on there but I've unsubscribed so I dont' get her posts unless she messages me or something lol. I have a lot of people but they are indirectly connected to me for the most part. Artists, friend gamers and such. I got rid of my sisters, cousins and all the family that just bug the crap out of me if I see there dumb posts.
