Hi all,
I am at a place in my depression that I do not enjoy or look forward to ANYTHING. I was told to do one thing I enjoyed or gave some satisfaction each day. I can’t come up with a thing. I am trying some exercise, but that just feels like work....no satisfaction from that. I am on my iPad all day when not working, but I am so bored. I have no motivation or energy to do much of anything and can’t think of anything that I feel like doing. Anybody else feel this way?

Yes! I can completely relate to that. When I am not doing stuff for my kids all I do is watch tv or come on pc. The thought of doing the stuff I used to enjoy has no appeal whatsoever. My T tells me to do things for me, and I come up blank. You are not alone in this. Feel better

This is me, too! Anhedonia. Sometimes, in my mind, I imagine myself doing things, but when it comes down to it, I. just. don't.

Yes...I looked up anhedonia and that’s exactly it. Didn’t read too much of what to do about it. ☹️ Has anyone gotten through this?

I also go through spells of that. Absolutely nothing I can think of to do sounds appealing. And it’s stuff I used to enjoy. For instance, gardening. I used to love it, but the thought of going out and getting my garden ready for spring sounds like more of a chore. Speaking of chores, anhedonia also makes it more difficult for me to take care of things that HAVE to be taken care of (bill paying, house cleaning, going to the grocery store). I find it helps if I make a list of those things and scratch them off as I get them done). I don’t know where my enthusiasm went, but I wish it would come back!

Personally I don’t play video games like I used to, but I uncovered the reason. It’s not depression, but a lack of belonging
Hobbies when done alone are boring overtime

Sorry to hear that. At least work gets me out of the house for the day and eats up the time. Are there things you are able to do during the day to keep you busy at least some of the time?

I know the feeling, nothing excites me anymore. I only manage to drag myself out of bed for work out of a sense of obligation.

I wish that my depression and anxiety would go away and I would feel more happiness and look forward to living every day. I have been struggling a lot for over 4yrs now and its getting too much. I feel tired, frustrated and hopeless. There is improvement but its too too slow. I want to get a lot better very soon.

I have made a daily plan which I try to follow but invariably fail. i m also thinking of working part time from home so that it keeps me busy and I can earn something too.

A friend in psychcentral used to counsel me a lot when i was worse....he has left psychcentral now. He told me to go out as much as possible, do a little cleaning and gardening everyday and exercise regularly. I would be much better if I could have followed his advice but I m not able to. My depression and panic attacks wear me down.

Good luck with that. I hope it works out for you.
I have been exercising every day for the last month because I’m told it can be such a help. Unfortunately for me all it seems to do is sap my energy.

Same with me. But I m not being able to exercise regularly. It feels like a drag but I still try to exercise at least half an hr every day though my target is one hr but I can never manage it.

What kind of exercises do you do? I walk and do stretching exercises incl crunches. I was trying out strength training like squats and climbing stairs but I m simply not fit enough to do them.

Good for you to even attempt an hour a day! I am doing 30 minutes a day. When I started it was only 10. I have been working on an exercise bike. I like to walk, but the weather has not been good...still have snow on the ground.

I try to do small things, like light a candle or take out the trash. Either some small effortless thing I enjoy or something to help me feel productive. It's hard though. I know exactly what you're saying. My former hobbies hold no meaning for me now.
