I feel the exact same way. I am too young for dementia, but I am a bit concerned about getting Type II diabetes.

I’m afraid of dementia and other medical conditions. Thank you for all you share here and for being so supportive. I also have been hurt by professionals.

I do feel angry when people play mind games with me .. I’m human.

Anger is a normal emotion in some situations. And I don’t play games mind reading people ... what a waste of time.

Me too.

Little Turtle, has some medical professional specifically told you on the basis of your biomarkers that you are at risk for dementia, or is your fear based on your knowledge of your own lifestyle, family history and general statistics? (As always, feel free to ignore my nosy questions. )

rohag----I have heard that sugar may be one of the problems
that may lead to dementia....I am trying to pay attention to this...
I am very close to pre-diabetes....my fbg is 90...and I have gained
3 pounds of fat...but I am having fun....I am getting closer to death
so I am trying to do a balancing act....but I don't want DEMENTIA...
I like to enjoy eating and drinking without too much trouble...

A search through PubMed yields plenty of articles referencing Alzheimer's Disease as "Type 3 Diabetes." The intricacies of the relationships among everything involved in diabetes and dementia are well beyond my capacities and, being beyond me, create shadows where all sorts of fears may thrive.

Looking back at the results of some of my own recent-ish tests, a fasting blood glucose level of 90 is still firmly in the "normal" range -- understanding the ranges are not set in stone. On the other hand, some make an excellent case that anyone eating a modern diet is "very close to pre-diabetes" or at least more susceptible to developing insulin resistance than standard clinical practice recognizes.

rohag I was pre-diabetic and was able to reverse that condition...
but now I have a certain amount of insulin resistance...
so 90 fbg may be good for others but it is too high for me...
and I also had a fasting insulin level taken----it was a little high...
so sugar is my downfall...

Thank you, Little Turtle. The context of your own history justifies your concern no matter how envious others may be of that 90 FBG.

In my case, restricting sugar by itself did not have the desired effect. I have only been able to "improve my metabolic markers" by extending the restrictions to almost everything that rapidly breaks down into glucose and so elicits a strong insulin response. I'm not having fun. (For the moment I ignore the issue of whether or not I can experience fun.)

Congratulations on having once reversed pre-diabetes! Bravo!

I woke up this morning feeling awful...mostly scared...
I thought it was a return of AWFUL depression...
maybe my withdrawal from celexa was not going good..
maybe it was a valium day....but it could be that today
was the day that too much thanksgiving food and wine
was hitting me.....maybe....so a cup of coffee and my
first walk helped some...and i talked over the news with
my wife which helped....it would be much worse all alone...
right now my working theory is I ate and drank too much
good stuff and it is coming back to bite me....I hope that is it..
thank you for reading all this crap

My paws are crossed for you
I have Valium but no celexa or the equivalent
(I do have some agomelatine but it does nothing )

I have been taking some 5htp for a few days before supper.. I think it might possibly be helping a bit. Slightly less anxiety ..

when I started on anti-depressants in 1973 with Elavil...
it was like a crutch to get me through hell...
I was wounded and I needed a crutch so to speak...
it helped with my anxiety/nervous/scared stuff

this afternoon I had a very good day.... it surprises me
