I think I also have a good bs detector. I do not like lies and cheats and miracle workers I do not like dishonesty ...

My ''parents'' were extremely ''talented'' at dishonesty, and DENIAL. They did not like the TRUTH, at all.

I wonder if your bs detector was partly developed due to early events in your life? I think mine was, but I'm not sure.

much love to all on the bus

I have found a new therapist who is not like all the others.

Early days but I have learnt that my inner cub has the exact same feelings that I have.
I need to help her now, help her to grow, be an adult.

The therapy is called Internal family systems therapy and I will have some EMDR with it to release trapped emotion.

Has anyone on the bus heard of Internal family systems therapy before?

Not external family but our own internal family.

I think I may have read references to Internal Family Systems Therapy, but I am unfamiliar with the approach. Some information about it is available on PsychCentral and PsychCentralPro. One example.

I have not heard of it but I wish you all the best in pursuing it. Sounds as if it may involve working with parts of yourself?

I have heard of this. I was talking to someone else about it only the other day. Had you heard of this therapy before dear Thirty shades?

I find this idea rather confusing. I think it's probably me. I also wonder what they would say about our inner snake and ...

ETA sorry if this post isn't helpful, I've been discussing it a bit with Papa bear (my husband) today (no reply needed)

hugs and respect to you dear Thirty shades and to all on the bus

I still have a lot to learn. I am being guided by the therapist. I believe it can help with a sense of self and is tailored to an persons needs. I have a long journey and will always have scars. No guarantee it will work but a small benefit will be welcomed. EMDR is also used to release trapped emotion.
