Most of the music I still find at least partially uplifting is music I enjoyed before depression overwhelmed my life. It's a mixed bag.

I don't know. I speculate multiple, overlapping issues are behind my depression+anxiety.
  • early socialization
  • possible family predisposition
  • work-related circadian stresses
  • a long-undiagnosed autoimmune condition with possible neurological effects

That's my speculation in a nutshell. I've had many medical folks treat me, and, basically, they haven't been -- or couldn't be -- interested in causes. They're all about alleviating symptoms.

Good post. I've found similar, medical folks have not been - or couldn't be - interested in causes.

little turtle is one of the exceptions, it must be very hard to ''survive'' as a medic in that field for decades... if sensitive and compassionate.. so much suffering

Like you Rohag, when I was very young, I was ''impressed'' by those who are/were ''very intelligent''..... like the PU (Paternal Unit)..... shame he was NOT Emotionally Intelligent

Now I value kindness more than someone who claims they are a VIP like he did ( a very important person and way too Superior to have a ''bear cub'' like me.....

actually I did ONCE read a very sad letter he had penned. Occasionally, very occasionally, he would be ''kind''... in WRITING but not spoken words...

the words said

''you and your beautiful baby are too good for me''

he was at the time of my birth having one of his MANY affairs.....

He did not stop having affairs...

the Maternal Unit was ''disappointed'' in me when I was born

She stopped ''pushing'' me out of the womb

She put me on tranquilisers (prescribed by a doctor) at age NINE MONTHS

''because I ''kept'' crying''

when she was trying to wean me...

I was taken OUT OF NAPPIES

at age ONE

''because I had a fat tummy''

I was such a ''disappointment'' to the covert Narcissist the Maternal Unit and the grandiose N the Paternal Unit

Do not even get me started on the Step Maternal Unit

It could possibly be... that the ''nice'' member of the family becomes the scapegoat, I don't think I was the ''terrible'' person that all that ''family'' including a poisonous aunt or two thought I was...

Why oh why did I post all that...

Much love to all those who have ears and listen without too many mean and inaccurate judgments (as my PUS - parental units did over decades)

Does anyone else on the bus have a favourite care bear? It's allowed to buy a care bear for our inner cub, Fuzzybear says so. Grumpy is one of my favourites, I like them all though

It's wonderful you were able to find a Care Bear for your Inner Cub.
May all who need or could profit from such a gift find one.
