the possibility that 1 day things will actually feel normal and to a point where we can cope

they say every day is diffrent, and for us that's not really worked out- every day we just get worse, and worse, and worse.

but 1 day..

in your experience, how would you say outsiders react to someone with a dissociative disorder

They'd probably look at us like lunatics. But you know what? That's ok.
That's kind of what we are we suppose. (←We're referring to us specifically on this statement so we'll speak for ourselves on this.)
That being said, we haven't met anyone in real life with DID in person yet but we're kind of looking forward to the said experience c:

Well, I like that I live in a first world country and have access to high quality infrastructure, education and health care, and I like that I live in a country where the government generally does its best to protect the human rights of its citizens.
I am exceptionally grateful that I was not born into a country that is torn by war, famine, corruption or any other number of ills that can afflict humanity.

On a more personal level I am grateful that I am able to work and have enough money to cover my essential needs.

Same question for the next person.

where are you actually from, luce. i just assumed you were american

um i like that i have the basics- roof over my head, food, warmth, that kind of thing- i'm not out on the street begging on the corner like so many people

i like that i live in a country with cooler weather and rain (i couldn't live in say, florida because of all the heat)

i am greatful i can do my shopping from home, really helps an agoraphobic out

i'm greatful i have this site

question:

before you were diagnosed with any menttal illness, did you have a plan for your life?. how much of that is still the same, and how much is diffrent?

Hmm, tricky question.
One of us planned to be a vet, one planned to be a prostitute, one planned to be dead, one planned never to grow up, one planned to stay with our abusers, one planned to be free, one planned....
I think you get the picture!
Some of it is still the same, some of it is different. (Progress is never as fast as we want it to be).

I like your questions too much. Same question for the next person.

My diagnosis didn't change anything about how I saw myself because I already knew. Nobody really told us anything we didn't know...putting a name to our reality didn't change our reality.

Our plan for our lives has changed a few years ago because I became seriously physically disabled, but not necessarily changed in a bad way. We have recently written our second book - hard to come up with the appropriate pronouns on this sentence because I wrote the first one, but my little helped tremendously on the second; in fact, I couldn't have written it without her help and so it is dedicated to her. With my ability for physical activity seriously diminished now, we have changed our plan to writing more as we are able - and turning the second book into a series.

Are you close to anyone on the inside?

I would go see my ex t. She lives far away from me.

If you had unlimited financial resources what would be two things you would want to do?

One thing I would do would be to throw money at research and professional development about dissociative disorders.

not really as such.

as charleen said in her 1982 song, " i've never been to me"

growing up it was always you're going to do this, you're going to do that, if you don't, then you may as well give up on life entirely.

i've never really sat down and thought about life and my future, which i suppose in the long run is a good thing.. having my life turned upside down so early would have made it fail anyway

i did think about maybe going to university, possibly becoming a computer technitian, earning a lot of money and going off to vegas (i'm not actually sure how honest the vegas part is,) but none of it's the same

i've gone from someone who hoped to become a technitian and fly to vegas, to a person with no life experience- and too much wrong with them

question:

if you awoke tomorrow to find yourself free of mental illness, what would be the first thing you would do with yourself

To have had such as strong feeling of hope is an incredible power. If that were us, we'd kind of look forward to reaching in and drawing out those intense pieces of inner strength thats deep inside.

since last poster didn't provide a question, i will answer the prior one as well.

i would probably realise just how quiet and strangely lonely it felt in my head and would want all my insiders back...chatter, arguments, never ending questions & thoughts, contradictions, and all.

do you find it shameful or embarrassing to have the stigma of being a multiple or being DID?

Uhh, we don't think so. We've kind of always been an introverted odd fellow with spontaneous emotions growing up and we're kind of glad we figured out why. We've thought about telling a few folks here and there for "closure" but then we've kind of come to realize that we don't really need someone else's understanding for our own sake when we kind of understand each other on our own? (Which we're fortunate enough to say.)

Our question for you guys:
Do you think that your human receptacle possesses one single soul or do you believe that your alts happen to have their own souls as well?

I don't believe in a 'soul.' What is a 'soul'? We possess a body and a brain, and a consciousness -self-awareness- that is divided. I do not have a 'soul'.

Do you lose time on a daily basis?

i'll answer this one myself... the only friends we currently have are on here so understand, and family are no longer in the picture- want nothing at all to do with us

question:

how is your support network away from the forum

I have ex t whom I email with. I saw an old t briefly recently but she referred me to a new t whom I haven't met yet.
I am very very lucky to have the support of ex t.
I don't have anyone whom I would call a friend. I have some non-abusive family members who live about five minutes away from me and I see them a couple times a year.
I tend to isolate and I don't expect support from anyone, but I trust ex t.

Same question for next person, because I am over thinking up questions.

I know i got people i can talk to but i dont wanna talk to them. I dont got a t either but thats ok cuz i dont trust ts. My support is the other ones in my system. They the ones who said it was safe and ok to come here.

Do you have other ones in your system who can do cool things and you all how they do that? If yes what do they do thats so cool.

System argues the most about how to deal with mean people. And how much to tell people. I have a little spiel that I do when asked why I have a service dog (dissociation is normal, like forgetting why you went to your room to grab something, but I do it for longer and more frequent). So I tell complete (nosy) strangers that I dissociate. But I don't want people to really know the why. Or that I am mentally ill. For some reason my spiel does not make people think I am mentally ill. Except for the occasional person who already knows about dissociation.

Do you like dogs, cats, both or neither?

We respect how open you folks are about mentioning it to people.
And we're dog folk for sure
