i can't ever seem to find a post on here about how to gain weight..... i do have an eating disorder, not a typical one though and am in desparate need of gaining weight. i have osteoperosis now even. i'm going to my doctor tomorrow (been to a lot in the last few days) and no one will tell me what's in between "eating more" and "putting a tube into my intestines"
does anyone know what the in between is? because eating more isnt' working for me. the weight doesn't stick and i do NOT want a tube sticking out of my belly!!!

help!

I dont know where you could get them..but i know there are shakes out there that are full of carbs and and stuff to make you gain weight...they use them alot of times on old people because they cant eat alot and lose lots of weight...try asking your doctor about them....i dont know
eat small meals all day long...and like wake up in the middle of the night for a mid night snack...i know i am not encouraging healthy eating habits...but i guess id rather you eat at night then have an ED...or a tube sticking down your stomach...Eating at midnight lays in your stomach and you dont burn the food...thats why they tell alot of dieting people to stop eating after 6
eat alot of chips...and snacky items they dont fill you up so fast...and are big in carbs...
i am really sorry...all the ways i can think of to gain weight are not exactly the most healthy....but i just wanted to help...good luck ....pm me anytime (((((((((((hugs if they are ok with you)))))))))))

Any drugstore or grocery has Ensure or other drinks or I'd learn to make milkshakes and smoothies, etc.

You lose weight by eating less and moving more so you have to gain (unless you have a medical problem) if you eat even a tiny bit more than your normal and move less. Take up reading in your favorite armchair? If you're exercising more than about a half hour a day, you can cut that out; half an hour maintains good health/fitness.

I've got no tips on how to gain weight I'm afraid... but if you go to your dr and say you're finding it difficult to gain weight then I'm sure they would take more notice than if you said nothing ( they'd assume you weren't trying and weren't eating enough). They might be able to give you an eating plan for you.

this has always been a tough question, most folks tell you to EAT!! I would prefer a fat pill myself. But.. what has gotten me past that feeling that everything I bite into is "just not what I want". I start with bread, bisquits go down easy with butter and jelly. I will make a can and try to eat two at a time every morning. Stay away from caffienne during you struggle back to having an appietite. Caffiene is a dieretic and that is not something we need. I am also the type that will eat the same thing for lunch everyday until I burn out on it. When that happens, I eat candy until I find the new lunch item. I can gain up to 5lbs in three days just by eating bread items. Taco's, peanut butter and jelly, tuna fish sandwhiches. Its a slow climb and a fast fall, and it is so much easier for me to do the eating alone. Not binge, nibble on it if it takes me two hours to eat it, who cares. Tell me what do you think holds you back from gaining? Taking the time to eat maybe? I think I have to many things to do, or I don't believe humans need to consume that much food in a day.

part of my complication is that i have gastroparesis....which is a disorder that makes the stomach very very slow. so if i eat too much fat or protein (which makes all those supplement shakes OUT) it sits and makes me feel nauseated.
my problem is that i can't eat too much at a time. yes, i try to eat small meals, but it just never seems to be enough.

i was hoping someone on here had been through a treatment plan that worked and would have some advice on what they do or give you to make the weight stick.

thanks for all the responses so far though.

I see... you don't seem to have a problem eating but more of how it makes you feel after you eat it. I have been in the hospital only twice for being underweight, but I do remember the doctor telling me about how the body reacts to the lack of food. He explained that we have hormones that work together, like two make the body react in a defensive way and two in a more emotional way. When the body defends against sickness the other two hormones can backdown or even shut off. In my case I was starving myself so my body stopped producing dopimiene and saratonenine.i dont make enough anymore. I am on Efflexor. I have tried others but this has been the best. I was also to stay away from protien or things that make me gassy, vegtables etc until i put atleast 5 lbs. i was in the hospital a week before i could even gain 3 lbs. it is the hardest thing to overcome, i am 45 and still struggle.
