Last year I had a kind of extreme dieting thing and though I didn't actually get thin, my weight got down to just below 'normal' on the BMI scale. Since then I've been binging, and my weight has increased by over 28lb and now my BMI is in the 'overweight' category. I realized a few months ago that I am scared to lose weight but yet I hate the weight I am but I find it hard to stop binging. I live at home with my dad (i'm 22) and the other day when he decided to nosey through my cupboards he found all the wrappers etc. And now tonight he says I need to lose at least 14lb. Probably I do but I feel so scared when I think of losing weight, even though I feel envious of thin people and wish I was like them. I suppose my weight gain is so dramatic because the weight I was last summer was the lowest weight I've been in years. So I don't know what to do, I don't want to tell him about my problems with eating because it just feels too personal, but I am scared if I start trying to lose weight I will end up going too far Pressure to lose weight.

wow... is what I thought when I read your post... soooooo confusing.. this weight thing.. that we all have going..
you.. can decided your own weight.. your Dad.. maybe has his thoughts.. but those are his... and it is your body.. not his...

Don't you think that it isn't the number on the scale but where you are eating healthy.. For me... since I binge.. that really is not good for my body... puts it under stress.. and duress...
How about seeing a T... or going to a weight watchers type group... that stresses healthy eating..

The worst time I had was at your age and I moved back home and it was not with my mom but with my dad. I had irritation with DAD, and to get over it I ate too much.
It too seemed like a spell I was going through. He seemed to be old and I was an adult and the happy DAD Daughter thing being over caused me to greive. (he greaved also but never admitted it)
Living with your parent after they are older is a pain in the you know what.
I will say, looking back, that was a reason I went from 130 pounds to 185.

I know it is hard to believe but this is what I think was true.

I hope you start to feel better. I hope you admire yourself. I had admiration for "ME," until sometime during the day OLD Dad said something stupid to me. (mild stupidity is even enough) Why do my folks earitate me so much. I love them and hate them all at the same time. Just living around him had me gaining when I was 20, even if I ate hardly nothing.

Hello Silver. Can you join a Gym in your area? Exercise is very important to someone your age along with making sure there are no medical problems causing the weight problem such as thyroid. Going to the gym may make it possible for you to eat more nutritiously and not gain weight as often. There are numerous diet plans on the American Diabetes Association website that can help you count calories and consume the foods and calories needed for your age so that you will be eating nutritious meals for your age. Take care. Silver. Soidhonia

Thanks everyone for answering Pressure to lose weight

Freewill: I know my body is my own but since I hate being this weight anyway my dad's criticism makes it worse. Extra weight doesn't suit me: I am only 5ft tall and I am an apple shape. He is quite right that I need to lose weight, and I know I need to, but I am scared of starting to lose weight. I've been binging too, and I am scared of the effects it will be causing on my body, and since I put my body under so much strain last year to get down to my lowest weight, I don't want to try losing again, because I find it so hard to stick to any sensible regime: I soon get obsessed with and scared of calories and soon cut down to the very minimum. So basically I feel quite stuck.

Razeljenny: I don't really understand your post but I don't really eat because of my dad, I eat more to comfort myself I think, usually at night before I go to sleep, when I am in bed reading or working...

Soidhonia: I know how to lose weight and eat a healthy diet, I just find it hard to control it because I can all too easily start restricting instead Pressure to lose weight I also know the calories of all the foods I eat and how much I should be eating, the main problem is I either eat below it or way above it Pressure to lose weight I have visited that website before though and it has some good recipes, so thank you Pressure to lose weight My weight isn't caused by thyroid, it's definitely from binging...
