It sucks that you're feeling this but it's an internal thing if that helps. By that I mean you are a failure in your eyes rather than being considered a failure by others. I understand first hand how that may not help much. There is a quote attributed to Einstein that states everybody is a genius but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. I don't know if he really said that but there is something to it. It may be all about finding your talent... the niche where your gifts fit. It may not match up to your interests.

Great point, George H.!

Plant my thoughts? I think I first need to go out and find some seeds and then maybe some thoughts will sprout!

I sure saw some sad-looking people in my psychiatrist's office today. I wish I had some magic wand I could have waved over them (and me, sometimes).

((((Mr V)))),

You are not a failure just because you took time out to "learn" things and didn't happen to end up being "the best" at it.

The human brain doesn't really work like that either. What typically happens is we "learn" things as we go along, and we don't have to be the "best" at these things, we just take pride in "learning" and as we continue to learn "skills" and "gain knowledge" along the way we gradually build in our brains and often what ususally happens for many people is they eventually utilize these learning experiences into something unique or they develope into being a success at something from the accumulation of what they learned.

If you really think about the greats, well, they were not "great" right away, what really happened is after they spent time learning different things they put it all together into whatever they produced that was great and unique about each of them.

Einstein didn't immediately come up with the saying he had about a fish climbing a tree, he grew to eventually learn that and came out with that statement. There are lots of things Einstein would have failed at, he wasn't a world class athlete, he didn't sing and become the American Idol of his day etc. It took him time to become the success we all know him for.

I personally would have never guessed what I ended up doing for my own business when I was your age. But now that I think of it, what I did was an accumulation of different skills I developed over several years of learning different things.

I know you hate to be told that you are young yet V, but honestly, alot of people don't get to be great at something right away or at your age, it takes time for most people and is typically a result of different things they learned along the way.

I think it is great that you "taught yourself how to play and understand the game of chess", that is a hard game to learn, so you were not the best at it, but there is still something there in your brain that you gained from taking your time to learn that and that might become part of something you eventually do down the road that clicks well for you. Even your experience with your insects and photography, that too can be a part of something else down the road that you haven't even thought of yet. That is how the brain works for us. We each have something we can eventually "do well" but it takes time for most of us to try different things, accumulate them in our brains before we find that thing that really "clicks" with each of us.

Just saying......nothing you learn is a "failure" it is an add to your brain that can be there for something you can't even imagine becoming someday.

I am tired of being broke all the time!
I work 6 days a week and have nothing to show for it.
I lost big in the real estate crash, and what I didnt lose the divorce is eating up.
I just can't get back what I lost.
I am so depressed about that. Now I rent, can't afford a car payment...wah wah wah!

I don't get sick days, ok --- and also I have a woman as a supervisor that believes "we should know before we are sick. that we will be sick"-- seriously, 6 years of arguments with her on this, of I don't know i am going to be sick till I am.....

Well, I am hard with this all-- I feel like **** right now, i came in to deffer the fight..... now I felt horrible for coming in, but then i found out- well the whole support team is passing around this bug! ---- i am sick because of work...

I want to ask for the night off this Tuesday but have awful remembering that one time that I mention people were sick and I got told to take off 3 days by supervisor while everyone else that was sick got to come in.

I think I will send my note-- what happens will happen right.

I don't feel good and i am a bit worried that the guest on my shift are older gents... and my chest hurts to breath- so even if this crud was a cold for most, i think for me it is settling in my chest.

Great, lose a day of work, pay for a doc! what a world!
sorry my venting time

I thought once I got the perfect job that everything would be great. It's not. It just seems to be one thing after another. Where's my happy ending?

Ever think that changing your appearance might give you a fresh start at something?

I think I want a haircut.

Those two statements are not related.

Does it stir things up for you sometimes when other peoples experiences sound similar to your own life? Don't know what to say to help, never was able to stop it from ruining my own life.

Not here. Still have a minimum of three months of snow left. Well...it'll still be spring, but spring isn't exactly what you're thinking.

I am very tired lately I try to look for some light and I can't seem to see it. Everywhere I turn right now is something depressing. My mother with her Alzheimers, my aging father and his challenges and then seeing my attorney who is 80 now and he looks awful, he either doesn't get it or he doesn't remember. Even my husband gets depressed when he goes to see him with me.

I keep finding moldy hay bails when I go out to feed and I am getting low and can't afford to buy more right now. And I managed to shovel enough to get them all out yesterday and now we have yet another storm approaching. More snow?

I am going back to bed, my arms are tired, everything is tired tbh.
