I wondering if you like to paint or stretch. A stretch book could help. Painting brushes and colors add to expressions. And calligraphy is an art by itself. These could help develop a hobby.

Hi cusack,

When I was a teenager, I looked through one of those community arts education packets and found a few classes that I wanted to take! I ended up in a Chinese cooking class. It was fun, gave me something to do, and it was cheap! People of all ages can go to the classes in those community ed pamphlets. I think that I was 14 years old when I went.

If you're feeling that your home is very unsafe for you, then maybe you should start off at your county's social services department. There, you would be interviewed, they would look into your claims (with your best interest in mind) and then make whatever decisions they deem necessary.

Hope that answers your Q's on what should be done. Take care of yourself, and do what's right.

hi,guys,i have talked to a person of the psych help center in the societal service department.with concerns that they would release my activity there to my family.but the situation is getting tougher and tougher,i have to do that.

as i expected, the woman consultant gave me some tough responses, which are kind of doubting your words' logic, testing your sanity......i would rather not tell about it.

she said there is a therapy activity there,i said ok,i am in it.she told me to wait for it.

Good going in talking to someone! The first steps are always the hardest. I am sorry to say I don't fully understand the system you refer to but if there is some activity that you might be able to participate in to get you to your goals of starting a new hobby, I wish you all the best and say, GO FOR IT! I know how hard it can be, Congratulations on taking the first steps, very courageous!

I'm glad to hear that you might have something to do. Was she talking to you as if you were a crazy person? Some people just don't understand. And if you are an adult, why do they have to tell your family? I don't understand that. But, at the end of the day, you'll be doing something for yourself. And if your mom doesn't like it, too bad. But if she tries to keep you from leaving to go there or something like that, that's a problem. I wouldn't know what to do then.

Are you on any Chinese social networking sites? You might be able to find people in the same situation as you, that would know where to go and what to do. It's definitely a very different situation to countries in the West, and somewhat to where I am: I understand about family, that's something really hard to deal with, but I don't know anything about services offered in China. I'm assuming lots of people think you should hide your problems and never talk about them, never draw attention, act perfectly and never bring dishonour to your family? It's tough.
And it's amazing how someone could see getting help possibly as dishonourable and a sign of weakness. Is that the case for you? I think doing things for yourself is good when it's not taken to extremes, and trying despite everyone putting you down and doing it on your own makes you a strong person. And working on feeling better and having things to do that are useful, that I think is honourable.
Thanks for this!

So you discuss your plans for free, then have to pay for them? I would think they would have free or cheap activities, therapy, and so on, since you'll be getting no familial support. Might help to write down any questions you want to ask or things you'd like to do.

holy!holy!holy!i went to the center for a talk in person,to have an interview,so they can see i am not a bad person.howsoever,i have said what i should say to them and they seemed ok with it.it was made.afterwards,i got a larger half day to spend and didn't know where to go.then i remembered what miserable me had told me,that there are chances people talking to each other at movies,so i went to a movie theater.guess, guess what,i met a guy familiar to my family,he is a migrant worker and used to be my only friend, but he was too close to my family,so i cut off with him.he works as an electrician there,he was just at the gate when i got there.though i talked to him several times that he should keep my presence there a secret to my family if he still wants to be my friend, because of my family's bad intervention on me,i am still worried that he will blurt it out to them.jesus christ, god, can you give me a break???

I'm glad it worked out with the centre, but that's bad luck seeing that friend there. I hope he doesn't tell them. I wish you could enjoy something without having to worry about your family.

hi cusack! thanks for the link to your thread.
i think the others gave you some great suggestions and ideas. i think you were so brave to talk to people at the center! that's great! i really hope you can join in a group there.
i also wanted to suggest, that if you found an activity or group outside of there that you wanted to join, you don't have to tell them you have mental health challenges unless you want to. that way you don't have to worry about being rejected by them based on that fact alone.
i know your family is very unsupportive to you. that makes me sad. but i think you should carry on regardless. be your own support, as well as making new ones.

I can't see the website on my phone, but it sounds pretty poor if you ask me. What kind of city doesn't have those services?

it sucks you have to wait cusack. sometimes in areas where there are very few services, there's a waiting list to get into things. that might be what's happening. i wouldn't like waiting either, but the time will pass one way or the other. hopefully they will get to you soon.
Thanks for this!

I have read your thread cusack. I too am waiting on a list to do something. I have waited for months and still waiting.

Some parents can be very mean. Loosing face is a big deal where you live. But you are a special person. Do you like plants? If you do then maybe you could find a garden someplace and see if you could help out there for free?
Maybe you might know some-one who likes to bonsai plants. Try to find some-one who does it. It might bring you peace. Gardens are very peaceful and may help to settle your mind.

Keeping fish might also be nice.

Your friend may not want others to know where he is either so he may not wish to talk to others about it either. If he is a friend could you ask him not to tell?

Also my name refers to a furry animal that lives in trees. (some countries think it means something else)

That is crazy.

For people that want a (bad) translation of the link:
Psychological Counselling Network (the other link posted doesn't translate, for some reason)

It sounds good so far. The system in China is different from the West, so we can only give suggestions; they can tell you exactly where to go.

As for your other post: do you think talking to another consultant would be helpful? Maybe not one as mean as this one sounds, one that won't doubt you all the time? If not, you probably have to look elsewhere. I hope the people on the other board can give you suggestions for that.
