In 2000, they tried it on me, 3 days I was off, it made me more depressed, sluggish, increased and renewed suicidal idealities, zombified, so while in the hospital my pdoc took me off asap.
Like the old saying goes, we respond differently to meds, what works for one may not for the other.
All I can tell anyone, if pdoc wants to try something new, give it a go, you never know, if it will help till one tries.
Lots of luck with this,
DE

If possible, try to get in touch with the prescribing physician, it may not be a med for you. To think of it, the several days I was given it, I too, had very scarey, bizzare, nightmares . . . call the doc.
Please take care now,
DE

I'm on it. I've been on it for about a month. I started at 7.5mg. It helped me sleep - but gave me weird dreams - however, the side effects weren't enough to discourage me. My doc increased it 7.5mg every week and now I'm at 30mg. No more weird dreams and it's working very well. Becareful not to dismiss a med just because you have side effects when you start it. More times than not the side effects will dissipate. I hear a lot from people who've tried many antidepressants and say that none of them helped - but when they go into greater detail most of the time they'd only been on each antidepressant for a week or so before scrapping it and moving on to another. You gotta give it time. Give your body time to adjust.

Just my 2 cents. But Remeron is an effective and unique antidepressant in that it enhances the effects of serotonin and norepinephrine. It works really well in conjunction with an SSRI like Lexapro. Actually - it has reversed the sexual dysfunction caused by the Lexapro!!

Good luck!
Jerry :-)

As far as your weight is concerned - Remeron's #1 side effect (besides sedation) is weight gain/appetite increase. So it can be helpful if you are underweight. If the side effects you're experiencing are too much, you may want to contact your doctor and ask to scale back to 7.5mg for a while. I know the dreaming can be a pain - but it you stick with the med the dreaming will decrease over time. Plus, at higher dosages - 45mg-60mg it begins to really enhance norepinephrine which can be very stimulating/activating. I know some people who, once they reached higher dosages, began to get a stimulant effect from Remeron and had to start taking it in the morning instead of at night.

At any rate - keep posting - I hope things work out for you!

Jerry :-)
