Poet, then you must be a genius I guess, or lying about your age? Luce just told me how respectful I am but I am getting very tired--it's late for me and am not sure I am going to be that way now. Sorry Luce. I just want you to leave me alone, Poet. I asked a mod to close this thread.

FYI, I read about EMDR and the studies. I know it's not totally accepted, and what it's used for. My T knows it too. She's not stupid, you know. And YOU don't know everything no matter how brilliant you are!!!

So please practice your psychology on someone else and not ME. You are NOT helping me. Don't you see that? You're just making me defensive. You may think you have all the answers but you don't. You are giving me the facts correctly, but I'm a real person, not a statistic!!! Please treat me that way. Thank you. I hope you find peace and happiness in your life. I really do.

I am not lying about my age. And I am not a genius. People have different circumstances in life that lead to different outcomes.

No need to close your thread, I asked Doc John to delete my account.
Thanks for this!

Why why whyy the personal attacks on The Poet? I don't understand!!!!!

Nobody attacked Luce or Tayquincy for expressing a different opinion.
Was it just because they did not post links to articles liike The Poet did?

Why should The Poet be asked to disclose personal information?
THIS IS RAINBOW'S THREAD - she put it out there publicly and asked for opinions and feedback.

If you don't like someone's opinion, why do you have to argue and malign?
Just IGNORE IT AND MOVE ON.

There is no need to antagonize and argue and try to prove your opinion or approach is the correct one.

Now everyone's like, 'it's between Rainbow and her T to decide what is best.'

No one is doubting that, but Rainbow put this out there. And she was asking for WAY more than just someone to listen and support and give hugs. The question in the original post is:
Quote:
Do you think I'm being unrealistic, in denial, or does my "argument" make sense?Do you think I'm being unrealistic, in denial, or does my "argument" make sense?
That is a pretty pointed question asking for judgement and opinions in a public forum.
Maybe people should start qualifying questions with, Only responses from those who are over a certain age, who are willing to self-disclose, who agree with me, and who do not mention BPD or other treatment modalities, etc.

It shocks and saddens me to see the way some people are treated around here.

Is certainty ours? It certainly () seems that way, for some people...

I don't think there were personal attacks on The Poet......but the tone of his posts did seem argumentative, judgmental, combative, whereas some of the others who posted similar dissenting comments about rainbow's behavior patterns seemed much more measured, thoughtful, respectful. People were merely pointing that out to him!
My personal thought is that there is need to be careful about judging people's behavior patterns or their therapy/their T's, or making diagnoses based on what they share in their posts. Sure, some things are revealed in what is posted, but that's such a small sliver of the whole picture......which the T who is working with someone is more likely to see and more qualified to make judgments about. It's OK to express thoughts/opinions, yes, and rainbow was certainly willing to consider both positive/negative viewpoints and I think she has also done a lot of soul-searching (and much more public than I am brave enough to do!) to see what is in her behavior patterns. It's just that I think some of the comments (yes, particularly by Poet) did get too pointed, too cutting, more than was necessary for a public forum.......and it did seem as though he was really speaking beyond his experience and in a more critical, rather than compassionate manner. No feelings against him or anyone, this is just how I felt in following this thread.
These are matters in which to be more careful and compassionate......not just use intelligence/knowledge to try to force someone into a different viewpoint or awareness....
Thanks for this!

The OP has requested this thread to be closed. I am in complete agreement with her as it has gone way off topic.

In the future, please stay on topic and if you have an issue with what someone is posting, please take it privately with that member so as not to hijack someone's thread.

Thanks for understanding.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
